Ooooorighty then.........so you had the brains to answer your own question. Never doubted the brains was just looking for alink to the electrical diagrams and diagnostic flowchart. Just ended up purchasing the subscription on AllData. Thanks for your help anyway. I will update as I resolve the issue. |

Our cars have only internal coils. there is a primary lead and secondary lead that you used to test it I have an external coil, not an internal one. Checked the resistance on it both Hot and Cold as per the troubleshooting flowchart. Max HOT primary resistance is .65ohms, I recorded .7 ohms. Max COLD primariy resistance is .55ohms, I recorded .6 ohms. For the secondary resistance I recorded 12.5K ohms which is within sepcifications. The primary resistance numbers could have been right within specifications as it could be that my DMM is rounding the resistance up to the nearest tenth. However, being that its on the edge and my readings were just outside of it I will look for a replacement coil. Going to continue down the troubleshooting flowchart though onto the CKPS and then the distributor to make sure those components are still within their specification limits as well. |

get a multimeter and test the coil's primary and secondary spots. most likely its your distributor you actually skipped steps when diagnosing your problem. its usually cap rotor, then test connectors, then distributor, then igniter connectors to ecu, then the ecu. I'll check the external coil's resistance this evening. trying to find the flowchart for the troubleshoot from teh service manual but haven't found it online yet. Anyone have a good link to one? I haven't purchased a service manual for my celica yet and my Camry Service Manual is for the years that used internal coils so it doesn't apply. And I'd rather not waste my time using a Hayne's manual. Thanks worst-case scenario I'll use all-data instead |

I'm having a similar issue with my car. I'm thinking it may be the distributor as well as ther eis some oil on mine. I also already replaced the igniter & the fuel pump so I know its not those two things. |

Hey Guys. I've got a 1996 GT and my car will start, run for anywhere between 30-90 seconds, shut off and then you'll hear anywhere between 4-10 audible "ticks" coming form the distributor (which I'm assuming is the coil still firing). The car then does not turn on after that. No spark is present once it shuts off. I replaced the cap as it was slightly damaged and then I also replaced the igniter as I know they do go bad on Toyotas. Still having thi sissue though. Anyone able to lend a helping hand on troubleshooting this issue? My next thought is either a bad distributor, bad circuit opening relay or bad ecu, but I'm sure there are other things to look at. Thanks. |

Yuo when I pulled my motors apart they had roll pins in them. I first replaced them with roll pins and the first time I held the button a seond too long they snapped. So then I fnally replaced them eith solid pins and haven't had any issues! |

Yea once I took the accessories off the motor and pulled the sensor last week I realized it was the crank sensor so I obviously need to use it to retain all factory wiring and ECU. Motor blew at highway speeds of about 85 with close to no oil in the motor due to a bad front main seal and rear main seal, both found post-teardown. The blown motor had 145K on it so I would prefer to not swap that over on a motor that has machine work into it, new parts, and my personal labor of assembly. Also looking forward, the Celica will most likely get into some autocrossing in 2009 so a brand new pump or a performance pump would be ideal. |

I had to pull the motor out with the axle still in it because regardless of how hard we pryed on it it just wouldn't pop out. Anyone have any suggestions on removing it besides just yanking the crap out of it? |

Hey guys, I did a quick search on this but didn't find anything on it. My motor in my 96 Celi GT blew last week and I had already rebuilt a 95 5SFE motor from my Camry, but the Camry isn't running so I am swapping in that motor to my Celica. I knew I would have to switch over some accesories and the wiring and a few brackets but my concern now is that the 95 5SFE motor has the oil pump without the sensor, while the 96 has the oil pump with the sensor. Now I am faced with this issue and needed to know how serious it is. I honestly have tapped out my funds and don't have the $150 to purchase another pump, not to mention that I would have to crack open the rebuilt motor again. I know we already have an oil pressure sender in the head so I am not sure how important that oil pump sensor truely is. Ultimatley if it is direly necessary I will just have to wait till i do have the funds but I would like to avoid that as I now have to share the other Celi with my gf and I drive 43miles to work each day so its entirely difficult sharing the cars. Any information that can be provided would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I had a pretty extensive oil leak too from mid-rear of my engine, turned out to be the distributor O-ring seal. No more leak and its been 4 months now. anyone have a part number for that? Oil got into my distributor before it decided to internall break into pieces. I can't find a part number for the o-ring though |

the vert as it sits today. Rainy day as is the case this time of year in Florida [img]http://www.TeamRedlinePerformance.com/96celi_bronze1.jpg[img] [img]http://www.TeamRedlinePerformance.com/96celi_bronze2.jpg[img] [img]http://www.TeamRedlinePerformance.com/96celi_bronze3.jpg[img] what kind of wheels are those? size(and width)? offest? They are some old 15" x 7" American Racing Rims. They were on the silver Celica when we bought that one. I needed new tires so I decided to sand them down, clean them kup and give them a paint job. |

I took the motors out and the pins were the problem. Changed them out for some pins I got at autozone. Worked the first two times I put the top up and down but the third time I think I accidently held the the button for a half second too long when opening the top and the pins broke :-( I am ordering some heavy duty, Stainless Steel 3/32nd roll pins tonight and installing those next week. Hopefully that'll work better |

QUOTE(97lestyousay @ Feb 16, 2008 - 1:35 AM) About 1 inch. You will have small mammals nesting in your radiator. Hood only, with the bumper only I think you would still have to extend your stock hood latch or push the cover down every time you open the hood. ![]() yeah it definitely can't stay that way. thanks for the pic, i wonder if anyone has pics of the gtfour bumper with a stock hood. from the looks of your picture though it looks like a gtfour bumper would sit higher up than the stock hood level so something would have to be fabricated to extend the hood after it was raised. if anyone happens to have a pic of a gtfour bumper with a stock hood it'd be a great help! |

QUOTE(bccentaur3 @ Feb 13, 2008 - 11:40 PM) The gt-four bumper WILL fit regardless, BUT without the gt-four hood you will have a gap. anyone document/photograp this gap when doing a gtfour conversion. it'd be intersting to see what size of gap i'd be dealing with. |

QUOTE(ScoobyDooCruiser @ Feb 1, 2008 - 12:45 PM) Yes. It doesn't fit. Does it not fit or just leave a gap? from what I've read there will be a gap between teh stock hod and the GT4 bumper. I figure modification would have to be made to a hood, but technically the bumper would fit on the vehicle regardless correct? |
