if you use the 7age pump, how do you change up the flow and make everything fit properly. Some of the fittings don't even match up right?

How smooth was your head swap? I'm not doing the 20v, but the 16v. Did you change the wiring harness? And what water pump did you use, the 4age or the 7afe? Let me know please so I can move on without screwing up!!

Thanks,

Dan

Ok, I'm sure the 7age discussion has come up before.

Putting a 4age head on the 7afe block, blah, blah, blah...

I'm in the process of doing this and things are going smoothly and now I running into a snag. I read that you should replace the water pump of the 7afe with the 4age water pump. OK, well the pulley on the 4age doesn't hold a dual belt pulley. The 7afe does and I can't change the two out because the bolt holes don't line up. Anyone had this problem before?

Ok, I'm getting extremely frustrated trying to get the pan off of the bottom of my motor.
It has what seems to be 100 little hex screws in the hardest to reach f-ing places. I need someone who has taken apart the 7afe engine before to tell me how to take this stupid thing off.

Please someone help me before I go crazy.

Yeah, swapping out the engine wouldn't really make sense if you have a 7-afe block available to you. You get a lot more bang for you buck if you just go with a head swap and do a 7-age. More low end torque, while keeping the rev ability for high end hp. Add some other mods and you'll be in business.

I am in the process of doing the same head swap. There is a ton of info on the 7-age engine all over the place. I am getting new hks cams, new pistons, rings, 4-age ECU, valves, and new bearings. From everything I know about the 7-age it's supposed to be a very good high rev engine with better torque than the 4-age because of the bigger block. I should be done within about 8 months I hope(pending money situations). Let me know how yours turns out.

ITB's are a pain in the a-- to put in and not good for daily driving. At least that was my experience
on an integra. A CAI is much easier, actually can help with mileage, and still helps considerably with h.p.

Thanks, but no thanks on the ITB.!! I've been there. Do you have an ITB or something?

Maybe they work for some people, but I just prefer to stay away.

It sucks up here.

Should it give me about the same hp increase, as lets say injen or somebody like that?
It will probably depend on where I place my filter won't it.

I am going to build a 7age hybrid. Has anyone else done this before?

Now I need to know what type of cold air intake to get for it since the head has been swapped out.

Does anyone know what will fit the 4age manifold and fit under the hood of a celica?

If anyone has a used Large Port 16v head lying around off of a 4age engine it would be awesome!! I can't seem to find one at a junk yard without them wanting to charge me an arm and a leg for it. I just got my ride and I want to do a head swap, but if I can't, I will have to start on the interior first. It will be a bummer though because I really want to get started on the motor. Somebody help it they can, please!!

Thanks a lot guys, I will think about it. I don't know about the small port though. I think I either wanted the big port or the 20v.

Since we are on the subject of swaps, does anyone know how I can JUST GET THE HEAD for 4age ae92? Everyone seems to have the engine, but I don't need or want the whole engine. I'm going crazy looking for this stupid thing.

QUOTE(GT_silver @ Apr 24, 2006 - 6:05 PM)

I was having trouble with my clutch a few months back... every now and then it wouldnt shift properly and had to be forced. I figured the clutch needed to be replaced, it has 110k+ miles on it and just seemed to make sense. In order to avoid any trouble i figured i would take it to Toyota and pay the extra money to have it done right. They replaced my master and slave 900 and when i get it back it wont even shift... No grinding... it just wont got into different gears. Its fickle, cause sometimes if i work through the gears before i turn it on once i get going it will be ok and then later give out. I take it back they say i need a new Clutch Cable (still not sure what that is), and that i have a couple oil leaks that caused the cable to deteriorate. Ok i think i needed to fix the leak anyway so 1300 dollars later the leak is fixed and cable replaced. They said during the test drive that my clutch was slipping but when i went with the guy to take it around the block i didnt notice anything. So i take it home, only to have a new problem. After i leave first and stop again it wont come out of neutral, So at every stop sign i have to turn off the engine and start back up in first gear. Then it wont down shift of shift properly either. The shifter just moves back in forth in the neutral zone and wont go into gear. Just wanted to know if you guys think this is kinda fishy (or had any ideas as to what the problem is)... If replacing the clutch will fix this then i'll gladly lay down the 900 they're saying it will take but I'm worried that another problem will "pop up" and my car will never be fixed. frown.gif

Please Help!!!

Hey, sorry to hear about your problem man, but I don't think your clutch is the problem. I think you have more of a tranny problem. It sounds like possibly the shift fork could be bad. If you have been slamming the gears hard for that many miles, then it wears that down or possibly a sync. ring or something. You wouldn't neccesarily have to hear grinding for a tranny problem. You might want to check it out.

I just got my first '94 ST and want to get the most H.P. out of the engine possible w/out a turbo. Anybody have a full parts list for the engine so I don't have to search the entire site? I've got the weapon R intake, a fuel rail, H.P. fuel pump, and some other stuff, but I'm sure somebody has the goods on what goes and what doesn't. Someone help?
