I was standing in the garage today, wishing that I could take the celica out for a drive. The weather was great, and I have been itching to get it out for the last two weeks. But I have to wait another month so I decided to do the next best thing and hit up 6gc! I couldn't believe it has been like 8 months since I have been on here. I remember when I couldn't go one day without logging on. Just thought I'd check in and see how everyone is doing. Glad to see it is still going strong. Haven't done a whole lot with the celi for a while, I have been spending most of my time this winter on my new project, a 95 240sx. I am in the process of removing the engine to make way for a LS motor!!!! Can't wait for spring tho, go cruising and maybe hit up some meets and races. I am tired of winter!

Hello all, it has been a while. I hate to start a new thread for this but, I think my axles are about to crap out on me. Before storing it for the winter, I noticed some groaning when turning to the right. I have digging around for the last 2 months and can't find a definite answer.

It looks like the 1/4" to 1/2" spacer is the most accepted method. My question is: Would it matter if the spacer came from 185 or mr2 axles, or would either work.

Also, for those that have used the v6 Camry axles, have they seemed to work, or do they crap out too?

Thanks, Mike.

You guys weren't kidding when you said I’d be hungry for more power. I have only been driving her for a few months and am already looking to upgrade.
I just had a few questions.

1. What is a 3s capable of safely handling with stock internals and ECU? my goal for now would be around 300.
2. Has anybody used ATS Racing products, I stumbled across their website a few days ago and they seem to have some good bolt on kits. And would their ECU be better than a stand alone?
3. What would i need to do to achieve 300-350 hp? I know turbo, fuel, ecu upgrade, probably ignition. Also I would need to upgrade the suspension, I don't want to lower it to much because I am already bottoming out in some spots, any suggestions?

I am still in the planning stage, trying to get as much info and product list together, I am hoping to start next fall. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks Mike.

Hello, I was thinking of installing a remote oil filter kit and was wondering what size hose and -AN fittings to use. I was thinking either -6 or -8 but am not sure if these are to big or to small. Thanks, Mike.

Also, I was wondering what would be the best gauges to get to monitor the engine. I have a boost gauge and was planning on getting oil pressure gauge. I have a stock 3s, and mostly drive it, but I would also like to race it from time to time. Thanks.

Yesterday I decided to go for a drive since it was such a nice day. I was out driving around for about an hour and a half and was heading back to my house. It seemed a little sluggish on the way home. About three miles from my house, I was coming off the interstate, rolling out from the stop, around 4000rpms, the engine start to shake and it sounded as if the blow off valve was open. I was unable to get more than about 3psi on my gauge. The rest of the way I kept it around 2000rpms and didn't build any boost. Car seemed to run normal. About a half mile from my house I heard a noise from the passeger side that almost sounded like something rubbing on the tire, it was there for about 15 seconds then went away. I pulled into my garage and the car was idling around 500rpms for about two minuets, then died. I was able to start it up again, but it stayed around 1000 for about 15 seconds then dropped to around 500 and again died.

I am hoping it is just a boost leak and will be getting parts together tomorrow to build a tester. I haven't expirenced a boost leak yet and was wondering if these are normal symtoms or if there might be something else that might have cuased the engine to shaked or the noises I heard. Are there other things I should look at on top of ckecking for boost leak?
Thanks, Mike.

Does your rear defogger work?

I am not sure, I haven't had to use it in so long, I store it in winter. there are three wires that are currently attached to the defogger on the hatch, two are white w/ black strip, one on each side(you can see the one on the pass. side and where it is grounded to the hatch), and the one I that don't know where should go.
The two white w/ black strips are connected to a clip which then runs up along the sides of the glass on a yellowish strip, you can kind of see the yellowish strip along the window, the black one goes right to the defogger on the window itself.

I need some help figuring out where this wire goes. I recently removed my headliner because the adhesive was coming apart. When I took it off there was this wire hanging down.

the other end goes into the hatch and attaches to the defogger.

I looked around and there is nothing in the radius of the wire for it to plug into. I check the BGB on celicatech.com and I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Mike.

I am in need of some cash for my motor so i need to part with a few things. Right now I am trying to sell my lambo hinges and an Erebuni Shogun Style Rear Wing (754).

The Hinges I purchased a while back from another member here. I have had them on my car only a few months, everything is working and it mounts right up. I did need to modify them a little, I had to elongate the holes so that the gap between the door and the quarter panel was a little wider. I used a high gauge welding wire to fill in extra material and then elongated the holes. I am asking 350+ shipping.

The wing I also just purchased from another member here, but did not receive it in time to mount it to my hatch. It is brand new still in the box, needs paint. I am asking 100+ shipping.

Thanks, Mike

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how close to factory are the mounts for the Erebuni TRD replica wings? I have a 96 hatch and am getting it painted thursday, but my wing has not come in yet due to some shipping issues. I was just wondering if new holes need to be drilled or if they are close to the stock location. Any pics would be greatly appretiated. Thanks, Mike.

I will try to make it.

Maybe we can plan one around the time Dr Tweak goes on his road trip?

I'm sorry, it is 51. It wouldn't start right after it died, but it did start after it sat over night.

If you haven't had a lot of experience with wiring I would definitly send it out. Dr. Tweak fixed mine after I mangled it. He had it done in under 2 weeks. I ended up frying something somewhere and have already spent a couple weeks trying to track it down.

if your looking to save time, your better off mailing out the harness. those guys will do it quicker then it will take you to figure it out on your own. its a lot of wiring that has to be done. not a simple thing.

if you really want to do it yourself, you need the wiring diagrams for the 185 and a 94 celica. then you need to rewire your fuse box, fuel pump relay and cor, 3 interior plugs and 1 ecu plug.

Which 3 interior connectors need to be rewired? I am having some trouble with my ECU and I think something might be wired wrong on the interior wires. Something is shorting inside the ECU and causing a 5 volt single on E2 wire.

I have a wiring problem that is driving me crazy.
A little history, I had a friend of mine I was helping with the swap and we started out with the wrong pin out. Once we found the right one we re-wired everything. The car still wouldn't start. We ended up sending the harness to Dr. Tweak and reinstalled it.
I was getting 11 volts on my IDL wire and 5 volts on E2 (at the TPS connector). I just got back from a deployment and got a new ECU and TPS. I tested those wires and no more voltage. I tested everything else down at the ECU and everything passed (I have been using information from BGB on celicatech). It started right up and idled perfect. I let it idle for about twenty minutes and it seemed fine. I went to take it to get gas and was able to back it out of the garage and onto the street. I shifted into 1st and it died. I tested those wires again and no voltage on IDL but there is the 5 volts on E2 again. It is only throwing code 53.
I have been chasing wires for the last few days and can't figure out what is wrong with it. I haven't been able to get a hold of Dr. Tweak since I've been back and was hoping maybe someone could share their opinion. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Mike.
