Fresh pics

Tried to get some pics of the crack in the pass side taillight, it's actually in the red section and honestly took me a minute to find it and several tries to get it to show up in the pic.

While I wouldn't mind shipping international, it's probably more cost effective for you to get them local. I just got a quick "rough guess" estimate from fedex at $598 usd, and through usps at $298!

If it's a cali-spec car, and you decide to part out, I'm very interested in the wiring harness...

Sold my 6gc (again) and no longer need these parts.

I have a set of JDM taillights in good shape, one has a very, very minor crack in the clear section that happened when they were shipped to me. It's noticeable if you're looking for it but from a few feet away you can't see it. Asking $225 shipped.

I also have a set of low beam projectors. One has been taken apart to paint the housing black, I personally preferred the OEM chrome so I bought an extra pair of inserts to put it back to chrome. You'll get both so you have your choice of black or chrome. The one that has been opened up is still apart so it will need re-sealed. The same one also has one broken tab but the tab as well as a piece of metal with the same bend will be included so that it can be repaired. Asking $275 shipped.

I have to work, but I have a strong feeling I might be sick that day...

There's a very slim chance the celica would be running by then though but I might attend in my aw11.

This thread is in need of an update. The white celica was sold to a friend/coworker of mine, so I still get to see it several times a week though sitting in the passenger seat never feels quite right tongue.gif The red celica was running strong with the fresh head for about 3k miles before it decided to start dumping oil from somewhere. I checked under the hood and was amazed to see it was coming out of the intake filter! There is a serious amount of blow-by gas getting into the intake, like I lost a quart in a day kind of serious! I did a compression test and found numbers of 180 185 180 and 90... I'm assuming it has a cracked piston ring allowing combustion pressure to get into the crankcase but I still need to do a leakdown test to confirm this. Either way the motor needs to come apart/be replaced and I've really been toying with the idea of a 3rd gen 3sgte or maybe a 3rd gen 3sge. I may have found a great deal on a grey top beams 3sge that I could get for even cheaper than another 5s so I might go for that biggrin.gif

In the meantime I got a mk1 mr2 as a daily. Can't complain with an incredibly fun car to drive that only costs $25 to fill the tank laugh.gif

Well, assuming my celica is all fixed by summer I'd be willing to drive as far as so-cal, I have friends that live down there so it'd be a great excuse to visit. biggrin.gif

what's the condition of the remaining driver side chrome shroud? Hard to see in the pic but it looks like it is speckled with overspray or something?

Nice thread read all of it and everything then got to the end to here that it didn't survive.. It's the most heart breaking thing I've ever read haha. Keep up the good diy work thumbsup.gif

*sigh* I just can't bring myself to get rid of it yet, so I bought a new engine last night... I'm still debating on what my plan is, but I'm thinking most likely going to be building it with forged internals and use a megasquirt and bigger injectors and sit around 220-250 whp when I'm done, but I'll just be a bigger turbo and bigger injectors away from 400+ at that point....... wink.gif

Careful with that boost, I blew up my 5sfte at around 12-13 PSI, granted I was only "tuned" with an SAFC. I also just shot a rod through the side of the block in my miata when it started getting boost creep to 15 psi. biggrin.gif

Engines don't blow based on how much boost they're fed, a rod shot through the block happened either by oil starvation or heavy knocking/pinging...

But it feels pretty good at 10PSI still tongue.gif

15PSI caused the car to run lean, which caused the head gasket to blow, causing the cylinders to fill with water and the engine to overheat. Replaced head gasket, engine had a slight tick that I figured was lifters as it's common on a miata for the lifters to tick for a little while after you have the head off. I took the car to the track and within a few runs the tick turned into a loud rod knock. I tried to limp the car the 60 miles home, as the knock got louder, and louder, then after about 45 miles it blew up on the freeway. But if the car had just stayed around the 8-10 PSI which I had enough fuel for, this would not have happened.

well... I "fixed" the frame and got body panels to align fairly well:

Here's a pic that shows what I did to fix it:

It makes me sad to say this, but this car has officially been retired. The chassis is at a point where it's usable, but only barely. So when the engine blew I decided I'm just going to start fresh with a new car. I picked up an 87 rx7 non-turbo to be the new drift car, and I think I'm going to end up selling my 6gc in the near future to get another miata as a daily. I will, however, be keeping the welded diff I have for the miata on hand so if ever the rx7 is too broken to make it to a drift I can just swap diffs in the miata real quick and have a back-up race car tongue.gif

Bump. $4100 obo. Also interested in trades + cash. Mostly interested in an aw11 or a miata, but I'd entertain other offers.

to run straight distilled water with a bottle of Redline Water Wetter to see how it goes.

Water has a boiling temperature of 212 degrees, with a pressurized cooling system that might be up around 220-225, but that's still not leaving much head room if it starts to overheat even a little. I would probably add at least some coolant, if even only to achieve an 80/20 mix, that'll still bring your boiling point to at least 235-240, much safer IMO. Not to mention that water freezes at 32 degrees and winter is just around the corner... Coolant is also added to prevent corrosion, which if you are having to flush the system then the corrosion process has already started.

Just my opinion, do what you will with it tongue.gif

Pennzoil synchromesh will most likely fix that 3rd gear grinding issue. I had the same exact prob with my s54 and after putting in the synchromesh. It never grinder again. Also real clean Celica!

Yeah, I was actually just wondering if synchromesh might help it yesterday, haha. Perhaps I'll give it a try

You know you want it... Pay for my gas, hotel, and flight home and I'll personally deliver it to your door smile.gif According to mapquest it's about a 28 hour drive, not as bad as the 36 hour drive I did in a single shot, stopping only for gas and food, that I drove from ohio this summer (not in this car) laugh.gif

But seriously, if somebody really wants to take me up on that offer we can probably work something out.

Basic stuff:
95 Celica GT Manual Transmission
Clean title
182K miles on chassis, 50K on engine
Registration just paid through Sept 2014
Has every option except the 8-speaker set-up (it does have the 6-speaker setup though!) and ABS

Exterior 9.9/10
This car has probably one of the cleanest bodies of any car this age period. It was garage kept it's whole life and it shows! I have found one tiny door ding in the passenger side quarter panel and that's it! There are no other dents in the car period. The previous owner had the pin-striping put on and I think it suits the car well. I just put on a fresh coat of wax so that it's all ready to survive the winter.

Interior 8/10
I docked 2 points because the front seats need to be redone. The back seats, dashboard, carpet, and everything else are still in great condition. I'm including the Kenwood head unit which has a USB input that you can plug an Ipod into and control through the stereo.

Mechanical 8/10
The previous owner had a lower mileage engine installed about 20K miles ago that had 30K on it when it was installed. I do not know why it was replaced, but this engine has never given me any issues and runs perfectly. The oil has been religiously changed every 3000 miles with Mobil 1 5w-30 and factory Toyota filters for as long as I've owned it. I also put in a fresh set of spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, and transmission fluid (Redline synthetic) all within the last 10K miles. I also just replaced a bad wheel bearing on the front left. So why the 8/10? Well, I'll be completely honest, the car does have a small oil leak that I've yet been able to track down (I replaced the distributor seal and the valve cover gasket which has at least partially fixed it, but it does still drip a little here and there). The car also grinds into 3rd gear when it's cold outside or if you try to shift too fast. If you double clutch or just shift slowly though, there's no reason this transmission won't last another 100K miles. The A/C does still blow super cold.

I'm looking for $4200 and I am located in Livermore.

*NOTE* If anyone is REALLY concerned with that grinding gear in the transmission I can replace/rebuild the transmission for you for a really good price. Contact me and we can work something out.
