Hey people. I've searched for an answer to this and can't find anything. Has anyone replaced the seals on an ST202 3SGE (1998cc) ? If so, is it easy and do you have any tips? |

UPDATE: It was the wheel bearing, plus a loose axle nut, plus a bad drive flange in the hub. Either, the loose nut messed up the bearing or the loose bearing loosened the nut. I've decided this is the time to start upgrading everything though. I've done the ball joints, tie rod ends, drop links, bushings, struts and mounts. Just gotta do the back now! |

UPDATE: It's actually only happening when turning RIGHT (even slightly) and goes away turning left, so I'm guessing it's the left-side CV. It goes away completely with clutch pressed in. The sound defintely appear to be coming from the centre-left. Not sure if it's an outer CV joint or a CV axle issue though. Maybe I should just replace both? |

Hey folks. I have a UK 1996 GT 3G-SE Manual. Today I started feeling a single front-end clunk when taking my foot off the clutch after a gear change. Then, going downhill at about 40mph, foot off the gas the front end started juddering like one of the wheels was loose. All of this goes away if I hold the clutch in. Basically, the only time there are NO symptoms are when I'm either accelerating, coasting in neutral, or driving gently in 5th. Any ideas? Engine mount? Clutch bearing? Extra info... There's no over-revving in 5th, so I don't think it's a slipping problem. Thanks. Lee. |

The squealing is probably from your power steering belt, lower down and towards the back of the block. It’s pretty simple to adjust, loosen a locking bolt, adjust tension on the belt by moving the pump put, tighten the locking bolt again. Is that the one where I have to jack the car up, and remove the wheel and wheel arch liner to get to it? |

Hey folks. I've got some squeal coming from my belt when I turn the steering wheel. I'm trying to add tension, but I need some advice on what I'm doing here. Aside from the obvious adjuster bolt on the front, is there another bolt I need to be undoing too? My setup looks different from all the others I've searched. Mine is a UK 2.0 GT ST202 3SGE. Here are some pics: ![]() ![]() Thanks!! |

Howdy. Anyone got a PDF of the Chilton Workshop Manual for our Celica? Mines a 3SGE, but I guess it covers them all. I went for a gander on eBay etc and people are holding them hostage for 50+ bucks. Cheers! |

They simply push back in, no rotation necessary. Sounds like you may have a seized caliper if it isn’t pushing back in. Thanks. Yeah, plus the bleeder valves won't budge either. Both sides. My own fault for not bleeding the brakes sooner. I had the caliper off, pushed the brake pedal in and you could see the brake line moving, but the piston was going nowhere. Ordered two replacement calipers and a rebuild kit. Might see if I can plast the seized pistons to the moon with a foot pump or grease gun once I have the old calipers out. |

Howdy. Just a quick question about resetting the brake piston on the rears. I have a 1996 ST202 3SGE. Do our pistons rotate as they retract, or do they just move straight back? Also, if they do rotate, which direction? Just need to figure out my best course of action if the piston happens to be seized. Cheers! |

Hey people. Got a 1996 3SGE ST202 - ST202R-BLMGFW. When I bought it it didn't have a keyless remote BUT I kept the keyless remotes from my last 1996 (both UK, same year) Celica (7AFE AT200). Can anyone tell me how to program the remote to work with my Celica? The remote is one of these (08191-00860): ![]() Cheers! |

Howdy. Fitted my new exhaust, but the centre peiece for the downpipe support bracket (OEM 17573-74150) has come loose from the outer-casing. It looks like this -- ![]() The centre piece is made of rubber and has the bracket (which takes two M8 bolts) coming out of it. It looks as though it was originally glued in place - I can't see any other way for it to attach. Anyone got any advice on how to get this back in place? I'm guessing some kind of high-temperature glue? Thanks! |

Hey dudes. Currently replacing the exhaust on my 1996 3SGE ST202R-BLMGFW. Anybody know the OEM part number for the two little 12mm headed bolts that fix the downpipe side-bracket to the chassis? They go here: https://cdn1.imggmi.com/uploads/2019/5/13/b...9655c0-full.gif The diagram doesn't mention them. Also what size spanner do I need to remove the O2 sensor? Thanks!! |

Hey people. Got a '96 Celica 2.0 GT 3S-GE. Yesterday the fuel door release lever came loose because over the years of pulling it, the cable has lost some of its tension. I was just wondering if there's any way to adjust / increase the amount of tension on the cable? Does it have a tension adjuster on it?? By the way, for anyone in the same situation as me. If your fuel door won't open, this is what I did... 1. Remove the front seat by undoing the four 14mm bolts that attach it to the floor. 2. Yank up the plastic door trim that holds the carpet down (nothing to undo, just jank it upwards and it opos out ---- it'll pop back in too. 3. Pull the carpet away from the floor. 4. You have to pull the carpet back enough so that the trunk / fuel levers are completely revealed - fiddly, but pull the carpet away from those too. 5. You'll notice that the whole lever unit is housed under part of the metal - it is held in place by one 10mm bolt right next to it. Undo that. 6. Pull the whole unit backwards to remove it from underneath the metal frame, so it's free. 7. There should be two springs on each side of the levers (one of mine fell off, so I had to put it back on). 8. If these two levers feel loose, then you need to push them together until you hear a 'snap' as it all snaps together - there is no screw or bolt to hold these together, it's just a snap-in kinda mechanism. 9. At this point, if the fuel door doesn't open, get a friend to pull the fuel lever upward while you pry the fuel door open - then remove the locking bracket on the fuel door until you can fix the problem. |
