QUOTE (HectortheRican @ Mar 22, 2017 - 11:51 AM) *
Does anyone know how long it would take for the rubber to dry out or deteriorate due to storage?
I know it would largely depends on storage method and environment, but I'm just looking for a ballpark figure.

I'm about to buy an uninstalled motor mount that I believe was manufactured in 2004.

I seriously doubt you will encounter any issues related to an old but uninstalled rubber mount. These mounts get hot, cold and wet along with normal wear from movement etc.

I was wondering, before I get underneath my Celica has anyone encountered sounds that are similar to bad bushings out back? What did it end up being?
Are there better parts to instal? I plan on doing suspension mods to tighten up the feel as well as compliment handling.
Shocks and struts
New springs mild drop preferred
Polyeurathane bushing replacements
Motor mounts
Strut tower brace
Larger Calipers and rotors slotted
Any info on known upgrades will be a great help

I am reading through the stickies .

Hello friends
I just purchased a 94 Celica GT its in decent condition especially for the age. I used to have a nitrous assisted 22rec truck many years ago which ran 13.3 then i purchased a sweet 22r from LC ENGINEERING that i put a small T-61:) turbo on then finally sold it....
I initially bought this Celica to drive daily and enhance its performance via turbo HOWEVER doing research turbo and the 2.2 is not the route to go:( unfortunately...So new struts, lowering springs(1.5"max), new slotted rotors, strut brace and polyeurathane bushings will be it......
I am not entertaining a motor swap of any kind, I have far too many projects for that lol.
Great site so far

I bought my GT with the intesions in putting a small turbo on it not to race or be a dyno queen but just to have some extra power but from all i have gathered it is a huge waste to add BOOST, small bolt ons and leave it alone. I have chosen to upgrade the suspension and thats it.
I will not waste the time on a motor swap either, for me its cheaper to purchase a NON 2.2 Celica and vet busy on it.....

Check your:
Fuel pressure while driving-
Remove spark plugs and check for cracks in the porcelin and check the gap
Have your catalytic converter checked also

This may have happened for several different reasons:
Timing
Timing belt issue
Weak fuel pump
Low fuel pressure
Incorrect air/fuel ratio
Bad catalytic converter
Bad or cracked spark plug
Bad injector(s)
If it was my situation i would do all the inexpensive things first:
Check fuel pressure at speed and hi rpm
Check spark plugs for cracked porcelin and gap
How old is the timing belt
