k.. little bit of an update... I ordered a caliper and a rotor for a 96 ST... matched the bolt holes to the calipers I already have, and TADA.. definatly the same ....the only thing throwing me off now is the rotor... when I matched it up to the rotor for the '03 GTS, it was the same diameter, but a little thicker... so thinking that I may have ordered the wrong rotor I started checking part numbers for 6th gens... It may jus be the way it was listed for Advance, but it seems that which rotor is which bounces between the years.. so I guess I'm gonna hafta jus measure the rotor that comes off the car when i finally get around 2 doing it 2 make sure..

k.. went and did some measuring... the piston from the 6th gen GT and the '03 GTS are the same size, or at least within a millimeter or 2 as the boot kept getting in the way...

I took a look at the rotors as well...
IPB Image

the rotor on the left is for my 97 GT and measures about 10 inches (55mm) in diameter... while the one on the right is for the '03 GTS and measures about 10 3/4 inches (74mm)

IPB Image

both look to sit the same in thickness and both share the same hub section leaving the ONLY difference the diameter... that means they fit on the hub, no dremel required... There was an error in shipment for the ST parts so still waiting for those... Ill let u guys know when they finally come in

I'm planning on using a slotted rotor, but for anybody that is interested in factory spec replacement...
Bendix number:
'97 GT : 145009
'03 GTS : 145294

yes, the bolt holes all lined up, the 97 00 and 03... as far as the piston goes I'll have 2 measure, but if i remember from eyeballing it, they were very similar... it seems the only thing ur really gaining from the swap is surface area from the larger rotor, and after-market part choice/availability..

sure thing, I'll prolly document the whole thing for people who have nothing to do but read lol.... the only trick now, getting around 2 ordering the rest of the parts, then finding the time to do it lol... I'm actually ordering an ST caliper with bracket to verify wat works so check back soon

Anybody considering doing the front brake swap from the 7th gen should read this... considering I beat the hell outta my car, and I'm starting to rack up the miles, and it's getting about time to think about doing my brakes again, I figured, hey why not replace the calipers before I need 2... so while im at it.. why not use the 7th gens parts. Seemed harmless till I acctually tried to order the parts.... according to Advance Auto parts computers, from 2000 n up the 7th gen gts use the same caliper... but theres a slight variation in the part numbers for the semi-loaded calipers (caliper with bracket) thru the years.....

IPB Image

the 1st one on the left is from the 2000 model.... the middle is for my 97 GT.... and the one on the right is from a 2003 GTS.... I'm using the one from the 2003 because it seems 2 give the most room n still line up, as I'm not sure if there will be any kind of interference...

here is a closer look at the difference in the brackets between the 2000 and 2003

IPB Image

IPB Image

The part numbers for the 2003 (the caliper on the right) are Cardone:
19-B2580A
19-B2581A

and can be bought at n e Advance, or at least interchanged at n e other self respecting part store... I think I also read somewhere on here that this only works for an ST... or that the GT brakes are the same size as the 7th gen, but this is wrong, as there were both rotors in stock n I definatly pulled out the tape measure.....
