thanks guys. I'm definitely leaning towards it. I have to call them to see if the offer the roof spoiler as an option. I haven't seen 1 like that before. I use to have the jdm plastic 1 you can see through. Then I ended up ripping it off when the screws rusted straight threw.

I do like it. I found it on www.madmotors.co.uk and they ship to the states. My only hesitation are the sides. They just don't fit right in my opinion. That is why I was thinking GT4 - they look lower t me.
Thanks for the info though. I'm going to mull it over a little more.

Hey guys I've been thinking about possibly doing a gt4 hybrid, but then I came across this. What do you think? It almost gives the celica a more modern (today) look. I think.

The only thing I don't like are the side skirts. I think I would go GT4 for that.

I had a pretty nice 95 Celica convertible with 230k miles. I just smashed into a deer with it. I found a 97 Celica ST with 150k miles for $500 with a blown engine. I am going to buy it and swap some stuff around to get a working car. My questions is, would you guys use the convertible or the ST?

The convertible needs

-Front bumper
-Fenders
-Hood
-Airbags
-Windshield

The ST needs the whole drivetrain replaced, since it has a 7afe and will be getting a 5sfe. Both are manual.

So in case I didn't make the question clear, take the parts from the st and put it in the convertible, or take the drivetrain from the convertible and put it in the st?

I think that is a matter of taste. Personally I like the coupe better, so I would say to go with the coupe. Plus it may not have hit a deer and compromised the cars structural integrity. If you like the convertible better and the car is fine after the fix then stay with it.

Check the caliper to see if they are lose. Move them side to side
I had a noise everytime i would hit a bump it would rattle. Turned out to be the slider pins.

I checked it out yesterday. I had to re-torque my new wheels. So far it looks good, everything was nice and tight. I'm now thinking that it has something to do with the should strap of the seat belt. Sounds like it's right in that area. I'm going to strip the whole back out of it this Friday. Hopefully I'll find it then.

I have the same issue, after I have replaced my rear seats...im guessing its the rear seat latch....im going to tackle this issue this weekend....

Let me know how it turns out. I can't get to it until next week. I had a mechanic check out the whole car and he has no clue either.

Jack it up and grab your rear strut. Try shaking it. Also, check your jack... The scissor jack will make all kinds of noise if it's loose.

checked it and it al looks good. This is driving me nuts. It sounds like something broke off above the rear speaker. the car is clean and everything is tight. I'm going to have to rip all the panels off and probably the rear seat too.
Thanks guys. If I figure this one out, I'll let you know what it was.

could be a lot of things.
there's a few threads on here if you look for them.

endlinks and sway bar bushings seems to be a common answer.
if not, could really be anything like loose plastics or a screw.

The bushings are only a few months old, but I'll check them out. It sounds like it's coming from inside the body. I removed all the panels and found nothing. Just thought I was looking in the wrong spot.
Thanks again. I'll check those 2 things out.

Hey guys. I just bought back my old celica and have been busy working on it. The exhaust was so loud on this beast that I couldn't hear the rattle until I just replaced my Hi-flo cat with a new quieter and deeper sounding one. Now I can here myself think.

This is the problem - I have a rattle coming from the rear passenger side. I thought it was the hatch - it is not. It is not anywhere in the trunk area. I've narrowed it down to somewhere between the b-pillar and below the rear quarter window. Any thoughts? It is driving me NUTS. I can only here it when I hit a bump. It sounds like the hatch is shaking. But it is not the hatch.

I hope 1 of you knows exactly what it is. thanks.

Thanks for the info...that's exactly what I was looking for. I think I'll re-think those cams afterall because I really don't want to go and up the fuel system and head. I'll just stick to the port/polish/header and quick tune for a/f. THANKS!!!

The other posts have touched upon the subject but haven't answered my questions sufficiently enough. Fuel management...no one has answered that questions nor has anyone answered the question about head work and springs or valves.

HKS 264 intake/ 272 exhaust (it will give you more power all throughout the power band). Might need new springs though (stiffer) and maybe better valves...oh yeah, what about fuel management and then tuning??

do a boost leak test to see where the leak is if there is one...gotta be a pretty big leak though if you have "no" boost. Other than that, maybe the turbo's gone.

spray some sea foam in there to see if it bubbles out of the suspected crack...if there is one, you'll see it. I recently cracked my exhaust mani for my talon. It had a tick, tick, tick though kinda sound.

Unless you want to stay 5s and stay NA do the rebuild. But if you have the money for a rebuild and want some power, why not consider doing a v6 swap? Better yet a 3s swap if you like boost.

I'm just doing this one for the gas mileage and safe dependability. I'm not looking for some nasty power, I got my talon for that eh heh heh...but these celicas are pretty fun to drive, I was instantly drawn to it when I first drove it.

Talon's got hks cams 264/272...forged pistons...port/polish/shaved head...big 16g turbo...rechipped ecu and dsmlink tuned...balanced/polished crank and acl rod/main bearings...shaved/bored block...full exhaust 2.5" front to back with 3" muffler...K&N intake...750cc fuel injectors...etc, etc...

I wouldn't suggest boring the cylinders. I may be wrong but the walls on a 5S are too thin to grind out otherwise you'll compromise the structural integrity and blow your motor with one good romp.

What if I have to rebuild it and they bore and hone it for the new pistons? Is that going to be ok?
