So ever since my last post, I've been buried with school and work as well as trying to maintain a social life (almost impossible). Luckily I've had maybe a few hours every couple days where I was able to dedicate time to the car and focused on preventative maintenance before winter hits. Only major thing I have left to do is sort out the god awful suspension clunks when going over speed bumps, accelerating, and changing gears (pretty sure its the driver side fig 8).

List of crap done:

- Spark plugs
- Dizzy Cap
- Rotor Arm
- Gold Heat Reflective Tape
- Top mounts
- Charge cooler pump
- Engine Oil
- Diff Oil
- Brakes and Rotors

For entertainment I also added an entry level double din touchscreen stereo from pioneer only to find out my driver side speaker was blown rolleyes.gif
However, I managed to grab a component speaker set from rockford fosgate. 2 mid-range speakers and 2 tweeters for only $100

So after a day of driving of course I would get the infamous error 54 code. Cars currently in limp mode and after doing a coolant check and blipping the throttle, the charge cooler pump does not seem to be operating for some reason as coolant isn't being cycled. Does anyone know of any good replacements to the oem one?

I found an overhauled oem replacement from gt4-play.co.uk which I am probably going to go with after I do more tests on the circuits and test the amps of the pump itself. However if anyone knows of any alternatives that are PnP please let me know!

Before jumping into a new pump, have you tried topping off the intercooler. The level sensor is very picky. If that doesn't fix it, then unplug the sensor and bridge the connector to make sure it's not the sensor itself that is broken. Disconnect the battery to clear the code before each try.

The intercooler pump should not be circulating while stopped. The argument for this design is so that the "cooler" coolant in the exchanger will keep cooler and will start circulating when you take off..and maybe extended pump life?

If you've come across these suggestions and tried those things already, then disregard this message.

Haha I've tested the sensor and coolant level and those seem to be working fine, I actually went for it and replaced the pump and sure enough the pump itself was dead. Car now runs properly and it's kinda scary how fast these cars are considering the numbers.

I can sell you mine, still worked before I took it off when I went FMIC.

Depends, how much do you want including shipping to canada?

I've already asked once on my project thread and on the FB group but couldn't hurt to get more exposure. Does anyone know of any PnP alternatives to the oem charge cooler pump? My cars in limp mode from an error 54 and after checking the coolant level + blipping the throttle to turn on the pump it seems like I need a replacement.

I've already sourced an overhauled oem unit from gt4-play.co.uk but if theres cheaper alternatives out there please let me know! Thanks!

These cars seem to be appreciated a lot more down south than from where I am haha. I've only seen maybe 1-2 other GT4's in my city.

Small Update:

So I finally got the car back from the shop after having a new clutch installed and my god does this thing pull. Im so used to being in subies where you aren't moving anywhere until 3k+ so you know my face lit up after 2k rpm biggrin.gif

She definitely needs some TLC as there are a lot of nit-picky issues like a floppy rearview mirror, broken folding mirrors, and an uncooperative gas tank cover but so far I'm loving the car. Hopefully within the next few months I'll be able to update this thread with a lot more progress but for now, a few pictures!

after a quick car wash - hopefully I'll be able to fully decontaminate and ceramic coat the car when I have time off from school

Following in the steps of everyone with their TMIC, I'm planning to lag my cooler and plan to use gold foiled tape.

http://designengineering.com/reflect-a-gol...flective-sheet/

My main concern is if the adhesive will stay although the sheet is rated for continuous temps of 850F (454C). The adhesive is protected by a liner safe up until 325F (162C).

Does anyone have experience with this type of tape and know how much I would need to effectively cover the cooler?

I was also considering the aluminium heat blanket as well but seems like the gold tape will function just as well (at least according to the specs on the manufacturers website) at a cheaper price.

the one that sits on the dash looks a lot nicer.

This. And I think Teo (Endworks) makes them, doesn’t he? I don’t see them listed anywhere but I could’ve sworn he makes them.

If you have any pictures of the dash maybe I can get a custom one 3D printed to be somewhat similar haha

I agree it’s a lot more convienent to look at especially the way our cars are oriented but I wouldn’t know where to find them. I know endworks used to make them judging from previous threads but I wonder if he still does

Hey guys I stumbled on a triple pod cluster for the a-pillar specific to RHD celi's a few weeks back when I was window-shopping in anticipation for my car on the interwebs and sadly I forgot to save it. Now I'm trying to find the unit again and having the hardest time locating it so I'm wondering if any of you guys have any idea where I can find one! Thanks!

Its been a rough week. Found out I need to spend money to replace a slipping clutch, as well as rotors on top of what I'm already planning to do with the car. Just dropped off the clutch as well as a drl kit at my shop so hopefully it passes inspection soon!

In the mean time,

Trying to order front and rears for my 96 gt4 and cheapest I can find is 588 British pounds including shipping to Canada from Fensport. Does anyone know of other alternatives that may be cheaper?

Hey there 6gc family I just had my car inspected to get it registered and my mechanic diagnosed signs of the clutch slipping. It slips in 4th gear so I am looking to get it replaced ASAP so I can finally enjoy my car.

Now my dilemma is trying to find a oem-like replacement as I want to experience a stock car for the first little bit before I go upgrading parts.

So far my two options are:

1. A standard replacement from Fensport for 300 cad (before taxes and customs)
2. I found an exedy stage 1 organic clutch that provides an oem feel but is capable of up to 300+ ft/lbs of torque

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/toyota,...clutch+kit,1993

Is there any other aftermarket “like oem” clutches that are still available? Please let me know! Thanks.

8K Canadian doesn't seem bad at all if it's in as good of shape as it looks.

I'll probably pop by tomorrow to get a better idea of the condition but from my mechanic's pictures she doesn't look too bad for a 22 yr old car

Did anyone do a muffler delete on your gt4 and have sound clips of it? I'm toying with the idea of cutting mine off and replacing it with a straight pipe for ****s and giggles while I save up for a 3" turbo-back. So far the only clips I can find are one's that have been done on mr2's which are a good reference but vid quality is pretty weak/old.

Bit of a long shot but, Does anyone have scans or an actual copy of the owners manual in english? I have found service and repair manuals online and 6gc database has been alot of help. But it’d be nice to have all the specs and service info in one convenient place and not in a 1000 page document. Thanks!

Hey there 6GC joined fairly recently as I have a 96 GT-Four coming in this week to Canada and thought I'd share some pics out of excitement.

https://www.imgur.com/VoyAhMU

https://www.imgur.com/icZtd8a

Having never seen this paint code on a st205 before, I did some research and found out the name is Blue Slate Metallic (183).

As far as I know from auction sheets and my agents:

- Car is completely stock aside from a boost gauge, head unit, and aftermarket 16" rims
- Auction Grade 4 (160km, no major dents/scratches, no rust)
- Sunroof

First order of business is basic preventative maintenance to ensure reliability as I do plan on keeping this car for a while (at least until it becomes legal in the U.S).

Will regularly update the car as soon it comes in! Thanks for viewing!
