Haha I suppose I'm at that age. for 20 pounds or so I'll probably just leave them in. I figured there was way more weight back there but I guess not. Its gonna be driven pretty often so it would be nice for it to not be any harsher than it already is lol. Once I replace the beat out struts and quiet down some of the rattling trim it should be a bit more tolerable. I think it's gonna be loud either way since I'm driving on ****ty Canadian roads with low profiles. The trunk and hood seem to be heavy as hell too but I'm not willing to spend 2+ grand on carbon haha. I'll just spend that money to do some suspension upgrades and possibly up the power a bit. Thanks for the input! |

Fair enough. This may end up just being a weekend car as its already uncomfortable as all hell and loud when it comes to road noise so I'm not too worried about driver comfort haha. And I can't see myself ever putting much in the back since I have a station wagon as a grocerie getter. I totally get what your saying tho, the back seats seem like they'd be heavy but they're probably way lighter than they look. And as far as the fuel cell goes, I'd probably switch to an aluminum one that's less than half the size of the original. I'm likely going to upgrade the fuel system anyways so I'm alright with getting a new pump and whatnot. Gutting a Honda seems to make a world of a difference but maybe the rear seats and whatnot are alot heavier in those lol. Thanks for the info! I may just keep the interior after all. |

I'm new to this forum so hopefully im posting this in the right place. I'm looking to shed a few pounds in my 3sgte swapped 94 Celica st and I'm kinda wondering where to start. I don't want to completely gut the interior since this is gonna be a summer daily. I figure since the back seats are practically useless in these, taking them out would probably cut down on weight drastically (anyone know how much they weigh?). I've got a leaking gas tank too so ill probably switch to a fuel cell to cut down on weight as well. I may chuck the spare tire too but this is a daily so I'm kinda iffy on that. Anyone have some more suggestions? Thanks! |

So I'm gonna be doing some work to my st205 swapped Celica over the winter and I'm wondering how much I'd be spending to make 300hp reliably (I'm running a fwd setup). Can this be done on the stock turbo? I've heard they're unstable over 18psi. And would 300fwhp be attainable with the stock fuel system? I'm likely gonna upgrade to a fuel cell since my gas tank is leaking so I'll probably have to run a different fuel pump anyways. I'm also considering a mild cam to help up the power as well. I'm thinking about going with an aftermarket ecu as well but I imagine that would set me back quite a bit money wise. Any input would be much appreciated, I'd like to see what all you 3sgte guys are running on your builds! Thanks |

That is very impressive! I would of never expected them to hold that power. I've been told it's running an exedy stage 3 pressure plate mated to the 3sgte and a stage 2 5 puck disk meant for the Camry transmission. If I do get another Camry trans as a spare, what years of Camry should I be looking for? That wiki Link is very helpful but I'm just not sure what model years those transmission designations login up to. Thanks! |

So I just purchased a 94 celica st that was swapped with the 3sgte from an st205 gt4. At the moment it's running a manual trans from a 98 4cyl Camry. I know these don't hold up to power very well but I'm blown away by the fact that they hold up at all. I guess this transmission has been holding up for 4 years which I think is crazy. So I'm just wondering what other options I have for inexpensive tranny setups that don't require too much modification. Also, if I were to get another Camry transmission, what model years should I look for? (As I said the current tranny is from a 98). The current one is finally starting to let go (it appears to be having issues with the 4th to 5th synchro as it grinds going into 5th sometimes and pops out of 5th as well. Any info would be much appreciated. This is my first post on here and I must say this page looks very well put together! Thanks in advance ![]() |
