On what tests did it fail, and how close to failing were the others? In short, what were the numbers? My JDM SS-II is actually a 1996 model - and it failed on carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle 2350-2650rpm ...C0 should be <0.30% vol, but mine was 0.57% vol, 2523rpm Is that too excessive? |

UK rules - 92 if the car is listed in the EG database. If it is a JDM import it has different emissions equipment to the UK car and although the majority of MOT stations will MOT it as a UK GT you are perfectly within your rights to ask them to MOT it as a JDM SS-II up to August 95 - the SS-II won't be listed and so they only have to do a pre cat test which any celica not passing is in serious trouble My JDM SS-II is actually a 1996 model - and it failed today on emissions - so do you think i can get away with letting them know it is not a UK GT? If not how much is a new replacement usually? |

Haha I bought the game yesterday and I as well bought the GT-four as soon as I could. I decided to buy the Xbox 360, just for Forza, and I also bought the GT4 asap. I was dissapointed at how loud the Xbox fan sounds - too noisy!! - I should've waited another year for GT5 to come out on PS3. |

I've been playing with the ss-11 in the PSP GranTourismo version. Anyone know if the GT5 will have celicas in the game? |

Love it! Especially the 'turbine' wheels. I say in 8 years, it will look classic. Then most of us might consider buying it when the price drops a lot, like our 6gens have. I like it in green (I photochopped it) |

I average combined about 27-35mpg, trying to go slow on highways (55-65mph), and try to have a feather light foot in city. A bit of a waste for a SS-ii 3sGE beast. But feels good to boost now and again - Shell V-power is great but expensive 98 octane petrol. If in the UK - use this calculator - its brilliant http://www.grantgibson.co.uk/misc/fuel-economy-calculator/ |

![]() how did you get the grill behind the pillars? do you have to remove those black plastic pieces below the bumper? i couldt figure it out so i just put it on the front of them. but i dont have any pics cause it got all mangled when i hit a snow bank lol Just undo the bolts of the 'under engine covers' - they are attached to the bumper. Then slide in the mesh behind the pillars in the slight gap created by loosening off the bolts of the 'under cover'. |

Best thing to do is to buy from breakers in UK - you can find many on Ebay - just email them for the complete ariel and motor unit - mine cost me £25. Then swap out the broken original (the internal plastic strip that runs inside the mast broke). |

One question for you san0 what exactly does this mean. The covers don't go on properly when there's zip ties behind - need to shave and sand off bits of the pillar cover to do achieve a good fit. What this was referring to is that some Celicas have the option for having some plastic mouldings to cover up the pillars in the pre-facelift bumpers. ![]() Basically if you did grip tie to the bare pillar, and tried to cover the pillar up with the trim piece, well you can't as the ties will be in the way. |

I'm just about to add on the chrome sprayed front plastic trim pieces that go onto the black pillars, pics coming soon. I've now added the front plastic trim pieces. These were sprayed chrome with Plasticote, I did try to coat in the lacquer but this dulled the finish so resprayed again. At certain angles it is bright silver, but other times it looks black, the reflection on the fron lip make it look like 'extended fangs'. A good tip when fitting these pieces is to with both hands open and push in from the rigt of the pillar, then rotate it clockwise so it clicks into place. - You'll know what I mean when you try it. I grip tied only the top of the mesh to the pillars as when you stand, they won't be visible. ![]() ![]() |

Safest macho colour is black. When it's really polished up, all the curves of the body work look great against the light. There's more visual contrast in the reflections. |

So will the average clutch workshops order and use original Toyota parts or will they use similar compatible standard replacement clutches? Will they perform just as well do you think? |

When I first saw it -in the late 90's, I couldn't stop thinking about the Celi, the sweeping curves and those distinct 4 headlights. I bought a Civic saloon as my first car, but that was actually unreliable during 6 years. I eventually traded in for my dream Celica at last, will keep it as long as I can, even though it's mpg is bad. To this day, I appreciate its beauty, and superb handling, as well as the torque in 2nd and 3rd. |

As we are an international bunch of people who love our Celicas, I was wondering how you write 'Celica' in a different language. To start off I found this link: http://csymbol.com/female/celica.html ![]() |

I just bought from a breakers at 'fleebay' a rear bumper, as mine had dents and scratches all over, not to mention a bad respray. Question now is even though the licence plate surround area is different on my JDM ss-ii (pre facelift), will it use the same bumpers as the Euro bumpers from all models and ages. Let me know as he hasn't shipped yet so I could cancel my order. |

I had the choice to go with UK spec GT or JDM SS2 - I went for the JDM as it was very well kept - hardly any rust, really clean engine bay. I insured with Direct Line and they said there was no difference in price with UK or import Celicas. I also prefer the fabric pattern of the JDM seats, the UK ones have a weird pattern. I use Shell v-power and can feel the difference compared to normal unleaded. But it hurts the wallet. Good luck with the buy. |
