$2000 for the car and motor, or $2000 for each the car and motor?

Also, what's holding you back from dropping the engine in and getting it running? What more needs to be done?

Nice exterior work, by the way...looks really nice.

dear god dont put a bra on it. those things are eyesores
lol.

dude why would you press the brake with your left foot?

that for real sucks though...

I was using my right foot. The way my shoe was half-on I pressed down on what I thought was the brake and hit either the clutch or put my foot in the space between them. My sensation was totally off. I should've just used the hand-brake but in my head I was like "I can't believe I'm not hitting the brake!" and by then I had to swerve.

And as for the bra...I'd rather spend $90 to hide the damage than the probably $1500+ to repair it. This car is probably only worth around $2.5k-3k anyways, and I'm going to get a new car in a couple of years.

But I don't even know if I can fit the bra on. Looking at the bumper in daylight, it seems it was sheared vertically right at its insertion point by the fender. If the bra can attach to the fender, I guess it wouldn't be a problem.

So I got into my car with my shoes not completely on, and was heading out of my apartment complex. Still in the complex, and still shuffling with my shoes, I made a right turn and was coming up to a speed bump with a car in front of me. The car stops all of a sudden right before the speed bump, and so I went to hit the brakes but couldnt feel **** with my half-falling off shoes and hit the clutch instead. I wasn't stopping, and to avoid rear-ending the person, i swerved, jumped a curb, and then hit this fence surrounding the apartment's pool.

Needless to say I feel like quite the ****ing retard.

Now my bumper is basically bent in the middle and the end of my hood has a small crumple. I was going pretty slow, probably 2-3 mph. The bumper/fender/hood are completely flush on the right, but not on the left. The hood opens/closes fine. Doesn't look like anything's leaking, and nothing looks displaced on the inside.

It seems to be driving fine, aside from some intermittent noise of what I suspect is something rubbing against my front left tire. I drove it for around 10 minutes, with a minute on the highway reaching 60mph.

Anyways, that is my story. Unfortunately, I can't take it to a shop or mechanic to look at it for a whole week. Is there anything I can check out to see if there might be any serious problems? This Friday I'll be driving home (200 miles)...and then back again Sunday. Not even sure I could find a place to look at it let alone fix it on Saturday.

If it is mechanically fine I'm probably not even going to fix the damage (unless it's < $500) and just put a bra on it or something.

Yeah, that's what I figured. If that's the case, I wonder if I should just hit up my toyota dealer and get the 15" wheels that go on the 7th gen celicas.

How would my ride be like if I got 15" wheels without changing anything else? or 16" ?

Hey all.

I need to get new tires soon. I was wondering if 15" (or larger) tires would work better than the standard stock 14" tires on my ST, since my suspension is stock. And if I could get larger tires, would I then need new rims as well?

well, I guess i have to go to talk to them to see what they want to do and what we can do. i think the standard protocol is to just replace the exact same parts and return the car to what it was like before.

well, they sent an agent to do an estimate. he came around and apparently thought the repairs could be more than the car is worth. just checked the private value on kelley blue book, and it's only $5500! damn. he said the front assembly needs to be replaced, left fender needs to be replaced, and hood needs to be repaired, and that my air conditioner reservoir (or some other component of it) was busted. i hope to hell that it's not going to be more than 4-5k for all this. if it is, i don't know wtf I'll do...only thing i'd be able to do is try to get them to give me the $ to get it repaired...or buy another car frown.gif

edit: turns out to be $3k so they'll pay for the repairs. i asked if they could find out if they could find a TRD bumper, and let us know how much more it'll cost...if they're even able to find one and get it within 2 weeks i might consider getting that, if it's not going to be that much more expensive.

...and i hit a goddamn concrete divider while going onto an onramp. the snow and rain that was going to 'clear up this afternoon!' kept going all day and froze b/c the temperature went below 30 instead of 40 like was predicted. Of course there was no salt laid down, and I hit a patch of ice and nailed my front bumper at 20-25mph. My ****ty tires and the poorly surfaced/under-construction ramp didn't help.

My left headlight shattered, and my left foglight popped right out (headlight works, foglight doesn't). my left fender looks ok, except for where it meets the bumper, and my hood is displaced to the left at the bottom by an inch, but otherwise looks perfect. The bumper is cracked right between the 2 left headlights, from top to bottom.

insurance will charge a $500 deductable and will pay for all repairs. they want me to go to the dealer and get an estimate, and they'll cover whatever the estimate is. I don't know what their policy is on parts, because I'm wondering if I can get the TRD bumper if they're going to replace the damn thing instead of repair it. Don't know how much more it'll cost or if the insurance will not cover that part.

Should I worry about anything the dealer will do? like, replacing the hood and fender (which look easily repairable, hood probably just needs to be repositioned) but not using the exact shade of paint and leaving it off-color (or using poor quality paint that chips easily)?

"those mods can at most give him like 40 horses extra"

40 hp? Haha, more like 4! Header/intake/exhaust do VERY little for NA engines. I doubt he gained more than 5 whp from all that nonsense.

So i'm a liar because I don't have a billion pictures of the car?

I would think that if you did the swap that you'd at least a picture or two.

And about the having the car for "2-4 weeks" with the swap... I think you would know exactly how long you drive a car that performs that different than it did before the swap, not just some vague frame of time

Nevertheless, there's no sense in arguing with a compulsive liar. These type of people lie so much that they actually BELIEVE their own lies... Not only do they delve so deeply into their artificially generated realities... they also hold true so adamantly to their fallicies that they think everyone who opposes him (or her) is crazy.

In plain English (for *cough* Jason *cough*), you believe what you want, and we'll believe want we want. But ultimately, we all know that you won't give a rats a$$ about us, and neither will everyone towards you. Let's just move on and drop this thread... No sense in wasting precious board space on people like this...

Just to make you all look completely stupid, i'm in the middle of contacting the person that currently has the Celica.  I'll grab some pictures of my Swapped Engine, the gauges, the manual transmission, the intercooler and the engine strapped inside itself.  Hell, i'll even take a picture of the license plate so you can all come marvel and kiss my ass about how wrong and utterly pathetic you really look right here.

But then again, maybe I wont.  I'm lieing, I admit it.

We've heard it all before. That you're lying is the only logical conclusion from all this, so I hardly see why that makes -us- "stupid." In fact, -you're- the one who claims to have taken pics but -stupidly- didn't put them up -anywhere-. You have to be one retarded moron to think people weren't going to be skeptical. And with all these stupidass excuses and backpeddling you've done, it's only made it dead certain that you'll never have proof about anything you've rambled about, ever.

And the only thing that's pathetic here is your self-delusion. If you seriously think people will "kiss your ass." or if you derive enjoyment from it, you should seek therapy. The fact that you even expect it shows how f*cked in the head you are.

Why does this board attract so many compulsive liars?

It's not just this board... it happens on lots of boards. This is why I took lots of pix and posted them... so that no one will accuse me of lying and talking out of my a$$...

hehe

True. Some people on forums go at extreme lengths to construct some weird fantasy life, lying about such irrelevant stuff. I really don't get it. I mean, I don't understand why they would even CARE what other people on the internet think, let alone lie to them so dementedly. And it's so obvious when someone's lying anyways. Of course they always get defensive when called on it, or concoct some other hare-brained excuse about why they don't have pics/scans/etc.

I'm only keeping this public because I'm sure that countless others would like to see the pics

ditto, at least NEVERSTOP posted "in progess ( rolleyes.gif )" pics of his car. It's July now, his supposed bodyshop work should've been done by now, considering his 'awd conversion' was finished back an entire year ago. But, I've never seen gt2gt4 (igotta5fse-turbo) actually ever post any pics at all...when someone else on a msg board posted a pic of a red hot turbo, he was like "i'd be worried if that happened" whereas everyone else was like "yeah, mine gets that hot sometimes, it's normal"
