You can buy a clean and recharge kit from most auto parts stores that have the cleaning solvent that you spray on and the spray on "oil" to "recharge" the filter. Super easy to do and depending on the weather it could take a couple of hours to dry. Just remember to wash from the inside-out so the water will push stuff out of the filter. |

I used this chart when i was learning to single clutch rev match. This is exactly what i needed. thanks much. |

Sup folks? Just had a quick question. It's kind of an old topic that has been talked about before, but i can't seem to find that post so I'll just ask here. Long story short; got a 5sfe celica that i need to readjust the speedo needle on. I tried setting it by RPM, as close to as i could remember, but whenever i blow by one of those police speedometer thingies on the side of the road, they clock me as being off by as much as 10mph. I suppose thats not a bad thing considering i have a lead foot anyway, and i know it will never be spot on, but what rpm are you guys running at at 65mph and so on? its a manual tranny. i noticed the discrepency after switching to ngk platinum plugs. currently it shows 3.5k at something like 80-85mph which i know is way off. only mod is short ram if that helps. thanks. |

Thats what it is, a piece of the pcv gromet that got all hard and cracked. You should be able to get it out very carefully with needle nose pliers. Chances are it'll break in half when you try to remove it so be ready for that. |

Hey guys, been a while. I have a quick question. Tried search but I didn't have time to sift thru everything cuz I'm trying to get some work done b4 it starts raining again. Can anyone give me the screw info for the 2 screws that hold the rotor on the distributor in a 99 5sfe?(thread size etc) Got one here that is missing both and I have no idea what type of replacements to get. Thx in advance. |

Well, in your case, since you're not sure when the last time the t-belt was changed and you'd have to take most of it apart to check anyway, just go ahead and change it. It's probably the tensioner that's all worn out. Will lead to failure eventually. As far as engine damage and the like at highway speed, no need to worry since the 5sfe is non interference. Just the annoyance and hassle of being broke down on the side of the highway really. |

i've got a similar sound and if i'm not mistaken, it's the timing belt being a lil loose and its just slapping the timing belt cover. been broke so haven't had the time to take it apart and change it to verify, but that was the case for my old 89 camry 5sfe. |

thx for the help guys. finally got it completed. i ended up removing the the center crossmember completely thru some xtreme wiggling action. then it just became a trial and error game of raising and lowering the motor just enough to slide the crossmember back in with the mount already in place at a wierd angle. all in all completely worth the agony as the mount i removed was completely busted. it has so much more kick and pep now....well, for an ST anyway. thx to you all again for the help and kudos to tiga for the great pics to help me figure out how i was gonna tackle this. cheers! |

ty much for the fast response. yea, i just tried again and i'm def gonna need an xtra pair of hands. moved the car into the light so i can see now....i know this will be worth it when all is said and done, but this rear mount has to be the most retarded design from toyota since the crappy cup holder placement. |

sup ppl. just a quick question. i'm having this exact problem on my girls ST. is it possible to do this w/o unbolting the one side of the sub frame? i tried the left (timing belt side) mount thing but that didn't seem to work. also, is it possible to do this alone? i've been struggling with it for an hour and a half now and it seems nigh impossible to do one man style. if i do have to go sub frame route can anyone direct me to which bolts need to be removed? my lighting is limited and i can't see too well down there. btw i'm trying to remove this one, got the new shiny sitting there waiting to be installed. |

actually changing hers was the first time i've ever done it myself. so it took me a while cuz of the learning curve. not too hard at all, just time consuming. definately recommend having an xtra set of hands to help you if possible. as far as where to get em and price, there's a place down here thats a sub division of carquest and i got em there for 100bucks. (both sides). I ordered some for my GT from www.raxles.com. 160 shipped is what it cost me i think. |

Sounds to me like it may be your cv joints. just replaced the ones on my girls ST cuz of the disgusting clicking/pop whenever she turned the wheel. |

Sup ppls? I've been on a maintenance kick for both mine and my girls celi's. so is it really necessary to remove the fuel rail to replace the injectors? i'm rollin on the good ol' 5sfe and my girl has the 7afe. I'm again venturing into areas that i haven't done before, atleast no on celi's, and haynes says remove the whole rail. looks like alotta work the to swap some crummy injectors. thoughts? comments? suggestions? |

Cool. Appreciate the info guys. Just waitin on the axles to arrive and then it begins. And yes, I'll take a ATF bath over gear oil anyday. I hate even the thought of flushing the tranny on my GT cuz gear oil sux. In that respect alone, I'll work on my girl's auto tranny all day. |

Ah, good look. That probably would have drove me nuts(driver's side). Btw have an estimated time frame on how long it takes?(when you know what you're doin, so i can adjust my time accordingly) |

Well, like the title says, how would you guys rate the difficulty of replacing the axles on a 94 st? I just bought this car for my girl a while ago and I've been workin on it bit by bit to get it into a nice safe operating condition for her. I was thinkin about doin this myself cuz I don't wanna get raped by a shop, but I've never done it before. I'm reasonably good with mechanics its just that I don't have alot of time(or a place for that matter) to get it done, unless its a quick easy fix, I'll probably have to bite the bullet. Haynes manual makes it seem easy enuff, but I wanna know for sure before I start rippin stuff apart. (Btw replacing em cuz cv joints are shot, horrible, disgusting clicking in turns) Also as a side note, I've been reading that places like autozone and the like sells axles that are too short. Any recommendations as to the best place to get 'em? (Besides the Dealer) |
