I run Vista Prem. x64bit with 4gb of ram. Not slow on anything.. I can have, iTunes, Photoshop, Aim, Firefox, and Limewire running without getting slow. Also, best buy was a bad choice IMO. They just went under, so I doubt you'll be able to get much help from them. To install XP; Buy XP Format the drive Install XP (pray all the drivers work) Good luck. EDIT:: As for laptops I've had a number of friends tell me vista sucks. Perhaps I'm just luck I got myself a nice desktop, and kept my old HP tablet laptop running, windows xp tablet pc edition. you wanna talk about slow? go get that crap... ahhh. |

Ha, well I joined. I got the 7 day v.i.p membership for now, however when that is up, I will be joining for good. As for what I'm trying to achieve; Some years ago, in 8th grade I weighed over 240 pounds. I went on weight watchers, and lost nearly 50 pounds. I was around 195ish. I was happy, and of course high school came and it was all good. I swore I would never gain the weight back.. WRONG. Senior year I got on a scale in November. (Just a little over a year ago) It read 225.8 . A number I will never forget. I felt that everything I worked so hard for was gone, and it was. I sat and cried, like a little baby. My girlfriend who I had been with for over a year, kept telling me I looked fine, etc, etc. I knew inside that crying about wasn't going to get anything done. On my 18th birthday I made a decision to change my life. Relying on what weight watchers taught me, I was able to lose 65 pounds. I was down to 165. Although this weight was near impossible for me to maintain. I decided it would be easier to stay around 170ish. Now for the past couple months that's what I've been. However, with the holiday season, and college, and drinking every other night. I gained about 10 of it back, not the end of the world. Except this time I really won't ever go back, I would kill myself before gaining all that weight back. So i rejoined weight watchers last week, joined a gym this week. I'm ready to become fully committed to my goals. What are my goals? By April; weigh 165 or less. have 10% or less bodyfat. (right now I have about 15%) get 'v' shape hips. (ladies dig em) (http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/brenda29.htm) So combined with tons of cardio, ab workouts, and general strength training I hope I will be able to accomplish the following. I'll be going to thy gym nearly 6 days a week, to do cardio alone, lifting 3 of those days, and doing abs 5 of those days. I will keep everyone updated on my progress. Thanks for listening. -Chris. |

Man.. well if I had a bally's or la fittness I would check them out, however none are close to me. There is only a handful of gyms in Myrtle Beach and, even less are open to the public. So to comparison of other gyms around the area its cheap. I see your from cali. I would assume that you have gyms are every corner, hence why you probably have such lower prices. |

Well yeah its for a year contract.. but thats fine with me. I'll make sure i read the fine print. And theres no gym at my school, I go to The Golf Academy of the Carolinas and its tiny. As for joining a sport, I would however I need to be really careful of injury.. If I can't golf It wouldn't be good, I figure if I join a gym I know the limits I can push myself.. I could def. do 60lbs squats, how many reps and sets tho? I use to power lift my freshmen year in high school, so I have an idea of how to do everything. |

Thanks.. and the golds gym by me is, if you sign up for a year its 55$ the first month and 30$ every other month, which for myrtle beach i think is pretty good prices. Because the other local gym wanted 129$ to sign up and 42$ a month. |

Thanks for the input, I'm going to try to get my roommate to join with me.. We both have the same class schedule so it'll be easy to find times to go together. Also, does anyone have any good training exercises to work abs? I know theres tons of different things for them.. However I'll mainly be focusing on cardio because i'd like to drop 15 pounds by April. |

So now that I'm back down at school I think i'm going to join a Gold's Gym thats not very far from me.. I'd really like to start to get in shape for the summer time and such. Except I've never belonged to a gym and have no idea what to expect and everything. I mainly want to start running and doing free weights. I'm already on a diet, and I'm not over weight but I'm not exactly where I want to be either.. Anyways, my main concern for not joining is that I'm going to look stupid since I've never been to a real gym before. I know this may seem like a silly reason to not join but it is a reason I'm struggling with. Anyone that belongs to gym got some insight on what goes on? Thanks, -Chris. |

I agree, whenever I feel down I can't just sit around. I need to go out and do stuff. Yesterday i drove around for a while, I ended up at the mall, than the beach than back at the mall. I figured I would walk around the mall a bit since it was packed I thought I might see some people I knew that I haven't seen in a while, and I did. That did seem to help a little bit. |

Yeah, I hear ya with getting mad.. The last time I was driving around with this girl I got some mad/upset I almost threw up into a curb, wow what a stupid thing that would have been to do. Not only was I endangering my car, us, and other people.. But it wouldn't be the first time that I was whipping it around in my car because some girl was pissing me off. Only difference is the first time I did hit the curb and needed an entire new front end (1200$). Thank god for rim insurances, even tho all my friends laughed when I bought it. Man you would think I learned my lesson? Oh and I'd like to get some girls opinion.. Yesterday in an attempt to make things better, I bought her breakfast and her favorite drink from dounken donuts before she went to school. Mind you I had no reason to do this, or be up that early at 6:10 because I'm done with school.. Or Maybe 3 nights ago when I left her a 5lb bag of starbursts on her car because I know there her favorite. Wouldn't most girls get excited for things like this? Perhaps shes just out of her mind (so possible) I agree that its not depression, but some part of me knows that something is wrong. I understand moody being one thing, but it seems like some days its more than that. And my bestfriend wasn't answering his phone yesterday of course because he was with his girlfriend. I swear if I didn't have my car to go drive around I probably would of ended up doing something extremely stupid. |

I'm not sure if I am exactly depressed, or whatever you would like to call it.. However, I'm only 19. I feel like I should be having the best time of my life, out doing stuff, etc.. But I nearly ever feel happy, the first time I really laughed in nearly a month was today because the muffins my mom made were so bad that I couldn't help bu laugh.. ha. Recently a girl who I've been together with on and off for the past couple months have pretty much stopped talking altogether.. I just don't feel myself, yesterday all I did was get in my car and drive around like 6 hours, until finally one of my friends called me asking if I wanted to hangout. (celi always makes me feel better) I know it probably seems to be a stupid reason to be upset and I'm sure it is.. I'm just always so worried that I won't find another person like her to give me the same feelings I felt when I was around her. Anyone here a couple years older than me, ever have these same feelings? P.S. Were taking like an hour car ride to some concert that we bought tickets to when we were still together, how awkward is this going to be? And than after her friends invited me to go out and party with them without her there, again awkward? |

JUST SO ALL THE PARENTS ON HERE ARE AWARE.... Theres a new huge crack down on parents who host, or knowingly allow there children to host parties where people underage kids are drinking. "Parents who host lose the most" Now even with that being said my parents let me throw parties whenever I really like, as long as whoever drinks stays over. And everyone coming knows this.. But it still makes me nervous, for my 19th birthday I had a HUGE kegger.. Now I know some people slipped out who were drinking. I didn't go running after them, had they been in no condition to drive I would have. But having seen some commercials for "Parents who host lose the most" on T.V, well I won't be throwing any more parties.. I'd rather not have my parents be responsible for 30 other kids, and me at the same time. So now its to the point where even when you think you are trying to be safe and do the right thing as a parents the government still has a foot in the door saying.. "No, No this is bad". My real question is, when does it end? And when do we get some kind of freedom? If you let your kid drink in your own home, than so be it. The government should have absolutely no say in if its allowed or not. ALTHOUGH; Pretty much all my friends are 18. So if they get caught are my parents still at fault? Because the law says there legal, they can make there own decisions and look after themselves.. See this is where things get kind of hairy. (Assuming my parents didn't buy us the alcohol.) |

Ha, well after doing some more research.. nine states have tried to pass laws to make the minimum age 18 again. Not sure what nine states those were. It disgusts me how on the MADD website.. Mothers against drunk driving. They blame parents for the problem. Its not the parents. Its the law. I get so angry when I read up on these types of things. Man it just makes we want to go stick it to the man, however I know that being a child about and cursing everyone off, probably isn't going to get to much done except maybe a couple tickets. |

Yupp... and last time I looked Europe wasn't falling apart due to someone having a beer under the age of 18. Its just a shame because there are such more important things the American government could spend money on, other than fighting off underage drinking. |

Not sure if this has already been brought up or not.. However I am bored, and have always thought that this was a good topic to debate on. Recently I started my freshmen year at college. I'm going to Coastal Carolina University, if anyone lives around the Myrtle Beach area you probably know that nearly are whole football team was suspended due to alcohol related incidents. I have been a "legal" adult for over a year now. I just turned 19 a couple weeks ago. Being away at school my parents and myself both knew I was going to drink. I guess my family is very open and my parents trust me enough not to make any decisions to put myself or others at risk. I have been drinking probably since I was about 16.. Always socially, not by myself or anything like that. So lets say I am.. "Drinking Responsibly" Now I, more than most probably understand the need for laws. I also understand the need for equality. Although I know no one can ever truly win this argument I believe that I have some good points that I would like to get off my chest.. We can start off with a few simple points. The whole.. "If I'm old enough to die for my country, be convicted for a crime, pay child support etc.. at 18, than why am I not old enough to drink?" This is probably the most influential point anyone can make.. Look if I can go fight a war, but I can't drink a damn beer. Someone has there facts mixed up, because last time I checked fighting a war is much more dangerous than drinking a beer, or even a few beers for that matter. I know a lot of people think that teenagers are not responsible enough to drink, and do it with a adult manner. WRONG. A lot of people also think that teenagers don't care about drinking and driving. WRONG. The fact of the matter is, I am right in the crowd with these very people.. Of all the things I always see, the one I see most is.. Friends not letting another friend drive home because he's had to much to drink, or giving someone a ride home because you know there is no way you would want them to drive, or someone asking for a ride home because they know there is no way they should be driving. My final point is simply this.. People are going to drink and drive at any age, 21, 31, 41, 51, 91. It doesn't make a difference. The only thing that makes a difference is if we are properly educated about the risks with drinking and drive. My message is, Stop throwing the issue under the table by saying teens aren't responsible enough. Start by educating people, teaching them that you can drink and still maintain a right state of mind. I know there will always be people who disagree, and I'm sure there will be many people who do not like my comments, and people who agree with me. I would like to make a change, and although I am only one young person.. We are growing in numbers everyday. Right now politicians may be able to ignore us because we aren't the majority vote, However soon enough our voice will be heard and questions will not be able to be thrown away. One day we will have a common voice as young people, who can make a difference on any situation, not just the drinking age. Thanks for any comments you may have. |
