7A/1ZZ/2ZZ engines were paired to C-series transmissions. 3S/5S were paired to S-series transmissions. BEAMS 3S comes with S54 transmission from factory, plus LSD. I don't know if the C-series box will bolt up to a 3S engine - maybe, I just don't know. You can swap the S-series transmissions to an E153 transmission, need axles and other shenanigans. But, while the E series transmission is very robust (supposedly good for 600hp), it is quite a bit heavier. 50lb or so if memory serves me right. S series is good for 200-250hp. You'll never get even close to 250hp out of a BEAMS engine NA, so why bother? There's no point in bolting a Turbo to a high compression BEAMS engine - it would be a disaster. Much better off starting with a 3SGTE if you intend to Turbo down the road. Also, before you complain about the gears being long, have you driven the BEAMS engine, yet? The gears are so long because the engine revs so high. You need long gears for that engine. You could also swap the final drive in an S-series box, but it is quite an endeavor (I've done it, the whole transmission needs to come apart completely). Hope this helps. I understand a C series wont bolt up right off the bat, id need to dumbbell swap but in regards to your input on the E153 im not complaining that the gears are long in my stock transmission, im complaining that they are too short for my liking, the E153 has longer gears to remedy this issue. but i do appreciate the input and info. |

Greetings all, i've been thinking about a potential transmission swap when i swap my beams engine in as i'm not certain the stock C54 tranny will take the power and i feel the gears are a little too short. i was wondering if i could get some insight on some potential swaps. My first idea was a 6 speed from the 7th gen celica the C60 or C65-01B which comes with a helical LSD, i heard if you just swap the dumbell for any C5x transmission it will work apart from possibly some mount locations and/ or shifter cables and shifter. My second was the manual 5 speed out of any 93-01 camry the E153, its the same transmission they put in the mr2 turbo so i know it'll hook up to a 3S block and the shift levers on the tranny look very similar, i would only be concerned about mounting points and possibly axles. If anybody has done either of these swaps some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

itb are mainly used to smoooth out idle of very agressive upgraded cams. so larger header, intake n exhaust cams with itb with standalone would be great. your thinking if 4age blacktop in stock form has them why not the redtop beams. you want sound. make a short ram intake with the filter insulated in a box to keep out heat. well id love cams too, do you know where i can get redtop cams or standalone? |

you can find adapters easily and then use 20V blacktop ITBs. Youd probably need some short velocity stacks so you can clear the firewall You'd need to run a standalone. You won't see a significant power increase. Youll have a bit snappier throttle response where can i find a standalone for a single vvti blacktop beams? |

hey all, i was wondering whats the easiest way to run ITB's on a redtop/blacktop beams for my celica. any ecu modifications or harness changes ill have to make? im not worried about finding ones that will fit cause i can make adapters, but if anybody knows of the itbs themselves ill need that will be helpful too. and to anybody thats done this, is there a significant power increase at all? (im mostly after the sound and cool factor lol) thanks for anhy help! |

alright i solved the issue, there was no vacuum hose leak but i managed to install the Cali injectors into the federal injectors port all i did was take 2 sets of the thick round gasket at the end of the federal injectors and stacked em on top of each other on the Cali injector with one of the rubber rings that would be on the tip of the Cali injector in between. its a tight fit but if you put the injector into the fuel rail first then squish it down while rotating a little left to right they slide right in, the bolts wont seat the full way so tighten it down good with a tiny itty bitty amount of thread locker on the end of it cause mine just came loose on the first test drive. that fixed it, so with anybody else out there with a similar issue here you go |

Yep, the lime green with narrow tip is Cali injectors. The dark green are federal. Besides the potential vacuum leak, the injectors also have a different flow rate: CA injectors, 23250-74140, 264cc Fed, 23250-74100, 228cc Sounds like you had CA spec car and converted it to Fed spec. First, make sure that you've blocked off the injector vacuum assist tube - it should be a hose running from the back-side of the intake hose next to the TB to the back of the head. If you left that hose disconnected, there's a sizable vacuum leak for you. Next, to make things right, you'll need to get yourself a Fed spec ECU so that it can drive the injectors correctly. You're looking for 96-97 year ECU. 98-99 won't work, neither will 95 and earlier. i need a federal 96/97 ecu so i can run the 94 injectors properly? |

The only injectors that are different on 6GC would be the California vs Federal emissions injectors. IIRC, the Cali injectors have light green plastic, and Fed ones are dark green. Cali injectors have more business going on on the tip, as there's extra holes on the sides for vacuum assist. The Cali head also has the extra port b/w injectors 2 and 3 for the said vac assist. If you did not hook this up, you'd have a sizeable vacuum leak which could very well be causing at least some of your problems. Other than that, look for vac leaks in general, and/or malfunctioning IACV. Did you use your original IACV, or the new one? If the new one is acting up, it may be defective - try the original one. on a second note i am unaware of what IACV is. and one more thing, im using the 94 EGR valve which has a 2 prong plug coming from it, does this mean its electronically controlled or does it have a sensor? cause this could be my problem as the 96's egr did not have a plug |

Greetings all, im having a hard time controlling the idle on my 96 gt lemme give you the shakedown, i just swapped a 94 engine in but used all the necessary things (crank sensor, distributor etc.) from the 96 its using the 96 fuel rail with the 94 injectors cause the holes for injectors are different this could be the problem all vacuum hoses are working as they should (rather certain) and i have the upper o2 sensor but not the lower one, thats the only code it throws The issue im having is at initial start up it takes a moment for it to figure itself out then its sort of erratic , it bogs easy when moving and when i put in the clutch it sky rockets to 2k and sits there unless i pull the pedal back at me. ive played with the cable position countless times and its either to high for idle or too low to keep itself running while starting up or moving any ideas on the problem? are the 94 injectors smaller and causing issues? do i need to plug in to other O2? cause on my last swap it ran just fine without the O2's being hooked up properly any help is greatly appreciated thanks! |

Bolts right up! Don't forget to throw in custom pistons, standalone ECU, injectors, fuel rail, wiring, custom intake, exhaust, and you'll be making some powaaahhhhh. Not sure how much more, though, as the stroker 5S crank won't want to rev as well as non-stroker 3S. So you may or may not hit the 180hp or whatever non-beams 3S-GE makes, but somewhere b/w 140 and 180hp is in your future. would the standalone ecu and pistons be necessary? id have no problem with doing some porting and fuel upgrades, but will the 3sg(t)e head run off of the 5s ecu? |

Greetings all, im curious how easy it would be to throw a gen 2 GTE head onto my 5sfe block to maybe make some power? or do some of you experts think it wont make much a difference. really id do it because my head has a pretty good tick and i wondered if switching to the performance head would be worth it as i can pickup a 100$ nearby and potential hp gains would be cool. thanks for any help |

Just normal maintenance. If your pulling it out, redo all gaskets and seals. Double check all wiring. Check turbos to see if there is play, install a oil catch can. Then build, boost, break and repeat. ![]() how did you do the conversion? |

Greetings all, i was curious if any of you knew the injector size for the 3sge beams, if not doesn't anybody know the injector size for the 5sfe and 3sgte? i'm looking to get a beefier fuel system for my beams and just want a frame of reference for a good upgrade that isn't overkill or require a tune many thanks |
