My ST just started doing this recently too. Actually I've been getting a loud groaning/moaning sound not so much a whine. The clerk at a parts store thought it was maybe the fluid not cirulating properly. (air in system) But the resevoir is full and not leaking anywhere as far as I can tell.

I am beginning to think it's the pump itself but is there any way I can check for certain before I lay down the coin for a new one? kindasad.gif

Thanks!

It seems to have been answered in this thread already (If you don't grind it's fine... If you do, Knock it off. laugh.gif )

But I thought I would share my experiences. Yes I can clutchless upshift just fine, downshifting I work on every so often.
Not to say I let the synchro do all the work on the downshifts though, I still get it close via the gas pedal but I clutch just to assure no grinding.

Anyways, when I first started shifting without the clutch, I wasn't trying to save the clutch or the synchros, or trying to impress friends. It actually stems from a real bad habit of mine:

When I drive I like to hang my arm out the window. Well everytime I had to shift with my right hand, I needed to pull my arm inside the car to hold the wheel with my left. Very annoying tongue.gif So I decided I would make good use of my left knee to hold the wheel for that short second that my hand was away shifting. Granted I could no longer operate the clutch pedal while doing this, so after about 30 minutes of trial and error on a fairly vacant road I managed to get it down pretty flawlessly. I've been good since. biggrin.gif

Do you have race gas in the area? Don't shoot me if it's a stupid question. I realize you may be short on premium but was just wondering about race fuel. When my buddy Martin & I drive around in his stroker Cobra we have to mix fuel to get a higher Octane rating. Usually like C16 with like 91. Can't remember the ratio but it works for us. Considering it's a stroked 4.6 to 5.1 litres cobra motor with a 28psi blower on it and it works it should work for your 3sgte. (unfortunately it is pricey frown.gif )

Definately interested, every celica i see has there damn plastic dams hanging or dragging. Mine ripped off on the freeway one day. yeah that pretty much sucked, and its allowed all the grime and dirt to collect in the engine bay!! Aarrgghh! Whenever you get a prototype made post it up and if its nice I'll grab my checkbook haha.

i never understand why people think its the hardest thing to import jdm cars. just look up a local performance shop that imports and go down and talk to them about what it entails. that and I think that there are more jdm vehicles in the states than you may realize, i can think of 7 different r34s in the phoenix area 2 r32s and r35s 1 s15 1 supra and a crapload of civics and s13 silvias of the top of my head. all legal. just because the FEDERAL law says that 240s and skylines are the only two vehicles lawfully imported and recognized NATIONALLY doesnt mean you can't get other vehicles that fall within your states guidelines.

EDIT: just realised post may come off as an arrogant rant. left the same, but note not meant to be a rant, more so informative and experience sharing

Glad to hear you like them! I am also picking up a set and have several 240 friends that love them but i didnt know any celica owners with them. How is the camber in the rear with them being fixed and all? i hate that ridiculous "demon camber" on the rear thats common on civics it seems.
On a side note I love how ksports never seem to go for anywhere near there retail price of $1400. Everyone seems to pay way less. I'm getting mine for $770 from Fueled Performance locally. And on the chasis codes they list AT100/ST202 in my parts catolog. Was there even an AT100 or did I forget about it?

i just started getting the same "wobbles" from 60-70mph. i dont have the problem while braking though. i do occasionaly get the sudden jerk of the steering wheel when slowing but i've chocked that up to my new rim/tire combo grabbing the ruts in the road. Roads in Phoenix are lame like that they heat up get driven on and warped then cools back down and hardens. LAME. I just replaced my OEM 185/??/14's with 215/35/17 yokohamas on TC's. still getting used to it haha, love the grip through turns but still surprised when they grab to something when my old tires would just bump/jump over it. ...anyways after i put the ksports on and get an alignment i'm hoping it will eliminate the wobble. let us know what solves your case, I would be interested to hear, good luck!

Thats a popular swap for corollas. (ae86) There are a couple local drift guys that have the 3sgte ae86. It's a good motor for that kind of project. I mean one of the Top Secret Top Speed Supras is powered by a 3sgte, as well as several GT Supras. (along with countless drag cars.) But as far as fwd to rwd conversion celica powered 3sgte...waste of money, and time because most likely youd dump the project after a while.

If you really want a rwd 3sgte celica though. the best way to go about it, IMHO is to buy a 5th gen alltrac, and do a fwd delete. there a few done like this. i do not know the specifics though.

my mistake, i was assuming you were in america and did not have access to a gt4.

Havok, yeah i know the ski resort your talking about its in Dubai, its really something. Last time i checked on oil prices were getting them for around $136 a barrel, oh yeah its gonna get worse, looking to hit $150 a barrel around fall before end of year.

On gas prices here though, it was around 3.75 few days ago. dont know what it is now. ive seen it jump .20 in 2 days so who knows. but thats the bricks.
On the topic of filling up though thats another subject entirely.. for work i can put in $60-$100 a day depeding how many jobs there are, yes its a truck but it still gets 22mpg on average. frown.gif
The sad thing is we have several companies (oil companys no less) attempting to start initiatives/projects that would consideribly drop the price of oil per barrel here nationaly but are being shot down by congress. Buth thats a thread of its own..

Anways has anyone heard of the gentleman that invented a water welder that is able to reach temperatures formerly unobtainable by gas welders? It can heat/cut through materials in a fraction of the time of conventional tools? Well anyways he adapted the technology to one of his vehicles and now can travel 100 miles on 4oz of hydrogen. he uses it daily and is set to be widespread technology by 2013 and supposedly be ready to begin production on a widescale. (in case your wondering it would be about a $2 fill up.)

wow amazed on two levels for the rolla..
my thoughts in this order.
1. oh wow, that is really clean! nice find.
2. ohmygawd (pronounced as 1 word) it was only $900!?!?!

then i put 2 + 2 together and was sh1tting bricks on that price matched with a rolla that was running let alone in primo condition.

I dont know where your located, or where you got it from, but in AZ peeps are wild for those. bring it here and that will sell almost up to 3.5k AS IS. yeah i know thats outrageous but buyers are enabling sellers ya know? id never pay that much but i still like them. anyways props on finding that steal. have fun with it and keep it clean!!

I can relate to those of you with insomnia, yes it sucks. i had it the worst for three years doing school. i would stay up for 5 days monday through friday, then sleep saturday till mid afternoon sunday.. EVERY WEEK. people wouldnt know i wasnt sleeping, i was still functional, but you feel draggy on the inside (plus glasses hide bags under the eyes.)

It wasn't that i wanted to be up doing something. I just couldnt fall asleep. I tried excercising before bed, reading, listening to music, lights on/off. nothing ever worked. Most often i would lay in bed until everyone would fall asleep then i would get out of bed and start doing stuff. cleaning quietly, watching tv, reading whatever informative literature i could get my hands on: newspapers, research papers and articles, "introduction to" books on any subject. boring stuff. or sit in the dark for hours then repeat the day shedule. and those of you who have stayed up for days know that the idea of "yesterday" or "tomorrow" was always a funny thing when mentioned. people will chronical events with number of nights/days or times slept in between. for me atleast it was hard to relate immediatley when i was thinking in hours, versus days.

i eventually got over it with the help of sleep aid prescriptions, then went downhill with a need/addicition of the medication. frown.gif
but im better now thankfully, lack of sleep really does take a nasty toll on your body. i still can stay up thirty hours without thinking about it. but i can go to sleep now if i get in bed and relax. 5.5 hours a night no more no less and im tip top. smile.gif

.sorry such a long post i started typing a short answer and look what happened. haha..

I know that so far Nissan Skyline and Nissan Silvia are the only two japanese domestic vehicles that are already pre-approved for import on the FEDERAL level. (A few people in our local car club have them.) Other vehicles youve seen are sometimes on a state to state basis. One of the big hindrences of importation other than emmisions is crash test data.

thats a reasonable price and good condition from what i can tell. dont lower the price. you will keep chipping away at it because your impatient then when it sells you'll be upset that it sold for so little. id like to sell my 94st in a little rougher condition and put the proceeds towards yours (pipedream aahhh), but anyways good luck with the sale!!

for all of you sitting around wanting sportlines (or even just a drop with good looks and drivability) and not paying this guy, get off your rear and buy these!!
$150 shipped? thats a hell of a deal! see if you can find them for less than $200 somewhere else.
if i didnt already purchase a set id pick em up lickity split.

final point.. good springs, good price and helping a brother of the community who wants to help you!

good luck with the sale bro!

P.S. erahman85

sportlines drop 1.5" all around stiffer than stock, but still very comfortable.

pro-kit drop 1" all around even stiffer than sportlines, can be bothersome for daily driving. (i dont concern myself with comfort so much, but i do tend to think of my passengers...)

both retail for same price

wow you got lucky, last ticket i got i was doing 72 in 50mph surface street and the motorcycle cop pulled me over and of course gave me the shpeel on I could have easily killed someone or wouldn't have been able avoid a collision etc. well i got like a $360 ticket for 'traveling at speed not prudent to avoid collision' it was ok in the end.
im not trying to justify my speeding but the road i was on nobody drives under 60mph and and its like 4 lanes wide with a median in the center going straight for like 2 miles. it feels like your on the freeway and its easy to not pay attention to your speed. all in all the cop wasn't a dick and i wasn't a jack@ss to him so it went well.

Up until a short time ago I ran the receiving dock for Taser International located in Scottsdale AZ. Responsible for all raw materials and equipment entering the company(plastics, electronic components, equipment, personal packages.) Mantained cycle inventory for Raw warehouse and Production. Kept records and resolved problems with invoices. and performed duties and tasks associated with just about every other dept in the company because i had access to all locations on the premises. Loved working there, lot of fun lot of good people and a good company. but it came down to being understaffed and underpayed for duties performed.

currently work at PING in Iron Grinding dept. a job to pay bills in the meantime. looking for something a little more lucrative, because i also love cars and auto culture and that aint cheap haha! laugh.gif

Hey guys, trip is up in the air right now, I'll keep you posted.

-Doc

Hey Tweak,

If you do swing by phx, (surrounding area) AZ, i'd like to meet the infamous Doc. (Who I will probably be sending some business in the form of wiring.) Unfortunatley I can't offer a place to stay but I would definately throw down for a meal at a resturaunt for the good Doctor, and any other local celica owners if they want to get together.
(hint.. mini-meet and greet)

im guessing but im gonna say not a good idea due to your customer base being teh cheap/broke
kind.. haha laugh.gif
i made a quip about using the make money quick links under related links but then relized that the links are randomized and the comment would have lacked continuity... oh well. tongue.gif

craigslist under temporary or etc usually has atleast one good alternative out of most the spam on there.
lots of times people post odd jobs they need help with, or if delivery companies get overloaded they post employment for couple day jobs.

one of my fav's is delivering flowers on the weekends using own vehicle, $14/hour +tips.
(I don't recommend getting F/T delivery with your own vehicle ever, but for the weekend it works for me.)

i hope you manage to get that extra cash you need! good luck!
