If you collected all the parts in advance, and saved what you could along the way, it would be easy to find a local shop that will do the labour. If not, craigslist someone that will do it in their garage. Then you might even be able to observe, help, and learn. Better return on investment.

you will have to spend a little more if you go the route I did. im using a non VVT 1MZ ECU. so i have no VVT control. still making good power i think. i will make more once i figure out a way to control VVT.

How are you making out with the VVT? I am getting ready to drop a 3MZ into my 94 ST, and am currently sourcing the ECU. I have a ton of options, but they boil down to 1MZ with manual ecu, or 1MZ with VVT ecu, nothing with both. I'd really like to get the VVT working, but don't want to fight all the auto trans codes.

Also, how do you determine if ECU has immobilizer?

QUOTE
if you go with an E153, then just use ST205 engine mounts and my mount on the passenger side. use the axle carrier from the 05 Sienna. it fits perfectly

This is a fantastic tip!

Stephen your recent photos aren't viewable coming from Facebook. Can you repost? I didn't see them in the FB 6GC group, either.

Hi. Are the covers available in leather/vinyl combo, meaning the seating surface is leather but the side and back vinyl? Thanks!

The leather cost a lot more, and the weight is an issue, genuine leather weight 2 times or even 3 times more compare to the vinyl

Shipping Kills

I'd still be interested in this in genuine leather, if it's something you can do. They sell the whole sets on ebay for about $500 in real leather. How cheap can you do it? The vinyl just does not look good enough to my eyes to be worth save a small amount.

I would also want the armrest cover, since mine split and the shift boot probably. I haven't seen your floor mats yet.

I'm going to ask parts to put together an estimate for me tomorrow, and see what they come up with. None of this adds up to me.

Really? Mine are rusted end to end, very badly. And the whole thing is held up in a plastic track to protect it, too.

$80 bucks? What p/n's did you get?

To be fair, you are guessing at those prices. We quoted our customer $995 for parts, without a fuel tank. We charge 10 hours for fuel and brake lines, with a tank and filler neck replacement. Total bill is approximately $2200. This is not atypical for the area.

@playr158: What makes you say it can't be done? If I understand hydraulics correctly, as long as the volume doesn't increase, the pressure delived from the input cylinder to the output cylinder will be equal. The lines I've found are rated for 3000psi and higher. I don't expect a problem from them.

have you tried contacting the dealer? these brake lines should still be available.. you can always just coat them with undercoating to prevent rust.

lol I am the dealer.. That's why I know it will be a pain to get OE parts. And expensive.

Right now we're repairing a 94 AT200 with a brake fluid leak in my shop. I did my oil change on the weekend, and decided I'd better have a close look at my brake lines, too. They are rusted as hell! The metal is whitish and flaky, and they are not going to last long. 15 years of Canadian winters, freezing and thawing, road salt and pressure have added up.

Here is the problem: OEM parts are hard to find, and expensive. Some might not even be available, or seriously back ordered.

I have already replaced my main fuel line with a neoprene line that doesn't rust. What kind of lines are available as replacements for brake lines?

Now I am not talking about the short lines at the wheel that you can find SS kits for all over eBay. I'm talking about the entire brake line set, front to rear, master cylinder to each wheel.

Has anyone had to do this? Can you get long SS lines to fit? What options are available??

Plug wires for ST are in fact 90919-22327 (hurley97 is correct)
5S-FE is 90919-22370

Plugs
ST: BKR5EYA (NGK number, per Toyota)
K16R-U (Nippon-Denso)
5S-FE: BKR6EP - 11 (NGK number)
PK20R11 (Nippon-Denso)

Sorry to resurrect, but I didn't find the number anywhere and thought they'd be useful here.

You're doing something wrong. It took me about 45 minutes to remove, rebuild and reinstall my starter confused.gif

You can reach up from underneath, undo the two bolts and just maneuver it out.

Also, if your starter fails, 90% of the time you just need new contacts.

Also, I know it's not "totally" necessary to do this a lot, but it's not abnormal to change it every 3000 miles, even if the oil light hasn't come on yet?

OH MY GOD. That's not an oil light, that is an oil pressure warning light and it means your car doesn't have sufficient oil pressure to lubricate the engine at that moment. It means turn your engine off immediately and put oil in there and don't restart it until everything is ok. It does NOT mean start thinking about maybe swinging by jiffy lube next weekend.

QUOTE (GotToyota @ Oct 26, 2008 - 12:43 PM) *
Like I've said time and time again, the 3k mile oil interval change is a scam and a hoax. Today's oils will easily last 10k+ miles even under daily city driving.

The lubricating properties of today's oils, conventional and synthetic, will remain even after 10k miles, yes. BUT the dirt debris and contaminants that your oil filter removes will saturate that filter within 3000 miles every time. Especially if you're driving the average Toyota four, with its poor piston rings.

Basically, your oil becomes more and more like dirty unrefined oil as you drive. All the dirt in it is damaging your engine like death by pin pricks. Change you oil regularly if you like your engine.

I've asked in a few places but can't get an answer.

Is the steering knuckle on the ST the same as the 7A-FE Corollas? How about the 7A-FE Geo Prizms?

I need a front knuckle for my car, but they are impossible to find! I'm hoping I can use a substitute.

How about 5th gen components?

Thanks Ricky, but I'm going to hold out for an ABS one, so I don't end up paying twice. I'm kind of on a budget :\

I have PM'd a few people selling parts, but for everyone else I thought I would start a thread.

I really really need the front passenger wheel assembly. Hub, bearing, knuckle and ABS sensor. My wheel bearing went and wore the hell out of my hub before I could change it. My knuckle needs to be replaced because the caliper bolt thread came out when I removed the caliper and I broke the ABS sensor trying to get it out of the now ruined knuckle! Gah! frown.gif

Hopefully someone here has a front clip or a parts car and they don't need these parts.

I would also consider taking an entire SS-III suspension system off a front clip if someone was only using the engine, but then I would need control arms and struts etc etc.

I prefer to get these as cheap as possible, as I just bought a house THIS WEEK and do not have the cash to buy these new.

Bonus question!
I found a Geo Prizm assembly on eBay. I know there are a lot of parts in common.. will that knuckle fit my ST? All I know is that the Celica has a 58mm brake caliper length. If someone knows the dimensions of the Prizm one, maybe I can buy that.

Thanks!

Seriously why even post without pics.

A forum bot should just autopost the first reply 'pics?' if there are none in a FS thread

If there's no more donor cars at your local yard, let me know when your front passenger steering knuckle is available.
