It's good practice to change both sides, same with springs. Old and new don't perform the same. That's in an ideal world anyway and he has to say that to cover himself if anything happened. But if you can't stretch to buying two don't worry too much about it.

Stripped it down last night and had a look, one of the pistons was pretty much jammed solid. Got them out and cleaned everything up. Seems to be good enough anyway. Cheap and cheerful fix smile.gif

I left the sensor a bit loose on mine before after doing work and the light kept coming on and going off then. May be something simple like that ?

I threw it away smile.gif I think I have it sorted anyway, never seen the little circle printed in the screw, so I reckon that's how you know where it's set. Sounds good enough for me anyway smile.gif

It doesn't stop either way which I thought strange. Just noticed something there when I had another look, there's a real small circle printed in the screw. I think I'll take it that you match that to to the number and that's it ? Never came across dampers that didn't have a stop when you turn the adjuster though....

What's the story with adjusting the damper ? It's numbered 1 to 4. There's a plastic piece that you turn with a screwdriver to adjust but it doesn't stop when you turn it ? Doesn't seem right ?

I work in a bodyshop. Get yourself a used door. It's not practical to repair that. It would be cheaper to replace it and a better job in the end. The way I see it, if it's a bolt on panel, replace it. With a quarter panel I would repair it where possible.

Took it out today, there is
25 teeth on the inside
26 on the outside.
Had a quick look around on the net. From what I can see the Gt and GT4 all have the same ammount of teeth.

I know it has Superstrut. But maybe there's a chance the joint itself is the same. Was hoping somebody would have known. Would just save a bit of time and messing around.

Are these the same as the GT ? Don't want to take them out and find out they're different. Toyota don't sell the joint seperate either. They want €500 for the whole shaft.

An easier way to do it is loosen the screws a quarter turn or till they are just nipped. Get a hammer and give the strker a tap inwards, this will stop you from messing up the height of the striker, if you're happy with the height of your door. That's the way i do it in work anyway.

Hi, just bought my first Celica, it's a 98 SS III. Just wondering are the wheel bearings the same as the standard ones or are they totally different as well ?
