LMFAO at the idiots saying to start on a 600 and a 750. Please do not start on anything bigger then a 500cc. In his defense i agree with you, but he did not say get a 600cc SPORT bike u could get a 650 ninjaR or a gs500f or a 750 nighthawk those would all be a some what more acceptable starter bike would u not agree? but yes DO NOT get a 600cc sport bike to start!!!!! But gear is a big deal too as stated i went once went down the freeway at 60 MPH+ without leathers on, i had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my back and needed a skin graph and was in a medically induced coma for 3 days all bcuz i thought it was too hot to wear my leathers that night. if i was in the right gear i would have walked away fine. I still have huge scars and just a little FF (fun fact) for you, if u think oh i wont be going fast or far, so no leathers, 1st degree burns hurt more then 3rd, i found out that 3rd degree kills the nerve endings 1st degree does not, and when they clean out your open wounds with a brillo pad u will wish u had no nerve ending at all. wow just saw the guy that said start on a Gixxer 750 then get an R1!!!! No defense for that!!! dam thats crazy man. what happened? were you at fault?? anways yeah no 600cc or up sport bikes (inline-4) its funny cuz a 1600cc harley(v-twin) is alot slower then a 600cc japanese bike. but yeah if you gonna go high in the CCs make it a cruiser or something so its not fast Yes it was my fault. I was doing something I should not have been, and there was an obstruction in the road (mattress yes a mattress!!!) and if i would have been riding the right way i would have been able to avoid it. But hey thats the risk of riding. but here r a few pix from it the big "dot" on my elbow is what it looks like when loose black asphalt in embedded in the skin, and i have other pix to graphic. But what u dont see is that on my butt my jeans and underwear were also embedded in the skin and had to be pulled out fiber by fiber and one of the rivets on the back of my jeans melted to my skin and had 2 be ripped off too. ![]() ![]() ![]() Ouch..I know there's a lot of people who trash the idea of riding after a fall, especially a serious one like that one but have you got back on a bike since then? I really hope you have..and 600's on a track, now thats where a sport bike belongs. You are a lucky man to take a 600 on a track..I took my moms 07 zx6r for 2 laps around on a trackday and yeah, you already know there's no need for a or possible to describe it. My modified 250 doesn't compare..but i like watching the expressions on an unexperienced liter bike rider when they see me on the inside of their turn and later find out what i was riding. ..unexperienced liter bike rider..those two shouldn't mix but you already know as well as i do.. oh yes i would have been riding the next day if could have. I have since done 2 track days and i have to ride bikes everyday for work, one of the best thing about working on bikes is the test ride, i would not expect to put one of my customers on a bike i did not feel 100% about riding myself ![]() ![]() |

Yeah the shop is doing very well we have been open a year now this month, we opened right b4 the economy went in the crapper. However we have been doing very well and making progress. But if u need any help in getting your own business off the ground, let me know, since u say its far off the best advice i can give u is keep your credit score up, get all the meaningless pieces of paper at the tech schools (like the certs. and all that stuff, even the one u think are dumb), the banks look at all that stuff even more so now to see if your serious and know your stuff. Its very gratifying but very hard work!!! I wanted 2 be my own boss and work my own hours and i sure do... i get to work any 16 hours of the day i choose ![]() That sounds awesome, that is exactly what I was wanting to hear from someone I respect and who has experience. Thanks, and I will hold you to that when the time comes. ;-) And I am glad that it is going really well for you. It sounds like you are banking on your sacrifices. if your ever in so cal let me know i am in san bernardino u can come hangout at the shop and even wrench on a few cars at your own pace. The hardest part is the diagnostics for the most part, I mean anyone who can read can replace parts a good tech needs to be able to track down problems correctly and fix them all in a timely manner. And a great tech prevents more problems then he fixes ![]() |

cool thanks for the advice. Especially the sportbikes site, that's given me plenty of reading material! My friend has a bike he's not using that's been owned by several other valet drivers as a starter bike. I think it's a 95ish yamaha 500cc or so w/ high miles (around 20k). I think his price was like 400$ but it needs tires and a tuneup. It sounds great for me to learn on but i'm wondering if it'll turn into a money pit at it's age and use. What do u guys think? well that bike sounds fine except for the fact that it has been used by many other squids to learn on, that means it has been dropped and banged up more then a few times. But the mileage is not a concern, i have over 35k miles on my newest bike and its only a year old. Its all in how u take care of it. |

stetsonaw, are you sure all ST205's are RHD? i swear i've seen LHD ST205's from Germany & other European countries before. not trying to argue here just always like to learn more fun celica facts. brk34, it's not hard to put sidemarkers on a fender - drill the hole & wire it up. calijeff is right, unless the firewall is stamped with ST205 it's just a body conversion. yeah there are some LHD st205's out there but i am not sure if there is any WRC 6th gen gt-4s out there. but there might be. And i am sure there has been real 6th gen gt-4s imported years ago! seen one when i was working for toyota's warehouse way back in 1999 its was brought over for a show in California so i guess "technically" toyota did import some just had 2 take them back once the 3 (over how ever many months it is) temp bond was is up. ![]() yes there are LHD ST205s yes there are WRC ST205s bring it over and sending it back doesn't = importing in the context discussed so no count. yes there are at least 2 ST205s in the country. well importing it, and importing it for sale are to different things. I am just saying there have been 6th gen gt-4s over the in states b4 plenty of time. |

how much for all ABS system? depends what u mean all? u want the discs and rotor or all the mounting stuff like hubs and control arms too? Oh and no one wants the TRD "like" hood? $200 for that $400 for the rims with a trade of your stock rims tires are new and were $300 alone. Also have custom exhaust, straight pipe no cat, 2in pipe with magnaflow muffler sounds very good, deep and not weak and ricer. $175 for everything from the headers back. |
