bollocks - gen 7 seats fit fine. you just need to cut off the Gen 6 seat mounting brackets and the Gen 7 ones off the Gen 7 seats. then weld the Gen 6 mounting brackets onto the Gen 7 runners. Here's a how-to > http://www.celica-club.info/forum/index.php?showtopic=49442 |

Less work to do but less space to work on. This is how I did mine. so I'm guessing most people just make custom brackets? how hard is it to do that?
If you look at the picture above you can see it's going to be a bitch to cut out of MDF with a jigsaw - but it is doable. That's a stock 6" speaker - a 6.5" speaker will mean trimming away the side ridges of the plastic mounting - and depending on the conse style you might need to trim the inner diameter to fit the new speaker in. Then you have to consider how you can fix the 6.5" speaker to the stock mounting. I guess what you could do is trim the mounting down to be a flat surface then make a mounting ring our of persepx or 3mm MDF to fix to the the stock mounting and then fix the 6.5" speaker to the ring. This then raises the question of the 'paper' ring fitted to the stock speaker which stops the panel vibrating too much. I re-used this on my 6" speakers as the foam ring on the outer edge secures the panel against the speaker. |

Less work to do but less space to work on. This is how I did mine. +1 I just popped off the speaker cover, folded the seat down, took out like 2-3 screws and was able to bend the plastic back enough to take the rear speaker out... mine wasn't working at all so I thought a wire was loose or something, turns out it wasn't so I think it's blown. anyone know what size speaker would be a direct replacement? I measured it across at 6" but I've never heard of 6" speakers before. QUOTE(jimmy13 @ Nov 9, 2006 - 2:17 AM) Thanks for your help lads. Will be waiting on that swap write up ben, thanks in advance. Thanks again ![]() The stock speakers are definitely 6" - ideal replacement which fits perfect is the Pioneer TSE1675 speaker. these are withdrawn but I managed to get some from a german company on ebay. They cost me less than £50 shipped. You can fit 6.5" speakers but you will need to trim down the mouting bracket - but it also means that you may not fit the speaker ring back on properly to stop the panel vibrating. Jimmy - the write up is now on www.celica-club.co.uk in the Gen 6 guides in our forum. |

TSE2096's are sounbding good - when I bolted the speaker mounts to the door I made sure I had strips of dynamat on the door skin first - they can go pretty loud without any issues. No-one ever seems to do a write-up/pictures of swapping out the rear speakers so I think I'll do that this weekend. |

i've just fitted some Pioneer TSE2096's (3 ways) to replace the stock front speakers. I had to make my own mounting out of MDF and dowels but they fit ok - i did have to dut a bit off the inner door skin to fit the magents behind. Taking the easy option with the rears and have managed to source some new boxed TSE1675's |

you need to remove it from the console. then take it abaprt - it's held together with 4 small screws. When you get the circuit board out, you'll notice that the inner side of the front piece of plastic has a curved 'amber' lens. Remove this and superglue a piece of stage lighting gel over the hole just choose the colour you want. |

jesus .. don't spend $55.. just 1 min in a warm oven will make the front ones clear.. to make your facelift indicator lights clear. get a small philips head screw driver - you'll need this later. 1. take the indicator lights out of the bumper. 2. heat the oven upto about 200 deg c. (gas mark 6) 3. put the light on a baking tray - put in the oven for about 30 seconds. 4. take the lights out of the oven. Prise of the clear front lense (the glue will be soft) 5. you will see an orange square lense. this is held in place by a small philips screw. remove it. 6. do the other light cluster. 7. put the parts back onto the tray and heat them again for aout 15 seconds. 8. remove them from the oven and push the clutser back to gether again so the glue seals them again. 9. Let them cool 10. Using a kebab stick or similar implement, use a pieve of absorbent paper to soak up any condensation or moisture in the lense. 11. you mith want to use soem clear sealant to just seal the edge. 12. using either orange bulbs, but preferably silver vision ones, replace the cluster. all done - looks cool ! 30 mins tops ! for the side ones just get some avensis or corolla side repeaters from MrT. costs about £10 over here - so maybe $20 there. again get type 194 silvered bulbs that flash orange.. btw you do this at your own risk - if you neeed adult supervision ask for it ! don't try and sue me cos you damage yourself or something !! |

not really - we're doing one for the 7's which will have the 7 gears on it.. If you know anythng about metalwork it's quite hard to line designed up on 2 axis... as such designs like TTE or TRD will cost about £170 per knob.. hence we chose this one to stick with for the new batch as the lathe program has already been written. |
