Hi, I no longer own a celica. Can you delete my account or tell me how to do it? Thank you.

I bought the Haynes Repair Manual and in my opinon it is terrible. I had a question about my brake calipers and the book was wrong. The fuse/relay box layout is also wrong for my year: '99.

Any other suggestions for a good service manual for my '99 GT?

Thanks!

Yeah it was just really stuck. A hammer and screwdriver did the trick. Thanks for giving me the confidence to use a lot of force. Five years in Dayton, OH with the salty roads in the winter really does a number on your undercarriage.

Sad thing was that my Haynes manual said there were two bolts on the rear calipers when there is only one.

Also, the passenger side pads were down to almost nothing but the driver side was still useable but I changed them anyways. Is that because that's where the e-break is? If it is I didn't see it, but then again I don't really know what I'm looking for. As you can tell I'm a total noob on this kind of thing.

If anyone needs to do the same thing don't forget a c-clamp. Can't do this without one.

Hey guys,

I just tried to swap out my rear break pads on my '99 GT. I removed the only bolt on the caliper and from what I've read from other threads the caliper was just supposed to swing up but it didn't even with a considerable amount of force.

What am I doing wrong?

I just replaced my tank lid with Vincent's clear, which I must add is damn sexy, but if you want i'll just charge ya 10 bucks and shipping and send ya my leftovers.

Can I see a picture of what you have before I decide to buy it off you?

Thanks!

waddup guys,

Anyone know the part number for the gas tank door assembly?

The metal bracket that screws into the quarter panel is what broke but apparently you have to buy the whole package to get the bracket...

I called a salvage yard and they wouldn't sell me just the bracket. Anyone know if it's the same part on other Toyotas? Anyone have an extra one I could buy?

Don't wanna hi-jack your thread... if the cost for replacement plus paint cost over usd$70, just go to BS forum to look for Clear Gas lid

I still have the actual door since it broke off as I was opening it so I won't need to pay repainting costs.

I think I found the part and it costs about $40 not including S&H for the entire assembly. frown.gif

Just to wrap this thread up.....2 years later

I had to shave some of the rubber off the bottom of the antenna so that the male piece would reach the female. Then I used locktite.

Has worked and looked great ever since.

If you get a 7th gen base it will be so much easier. no cutting or glueing; just replace the mount and screw on the antenna. use loc-tite if you have it so the antenna doesnt get stolen.

Well I got it all installed and bought the antenna from the Honda dealership and the freaking thing doesn't fit!

The male part is too small for the hole.

Now what?

I've read conflicting posts about this mod.

Some people say you only need this part....

7th gen celica manual antenna tube (pole sub-assembly): P/n: 86309-20300

But others have said you also need this one....

6th gen celica manual antenna ornament: P/n: 86392-20180

Who is right?

Well if I can safely say that the EGR system has been degraded because of the oil gel then they have to fix that too.

I got this letter in the mail saying that there's been a class action settlement allowing free service to fix the oil gel problem that a lot of Toyota's had between 1997-2002. My '99 celica falls into this category and has the symptoms: excessive oil consumption, blue smoke.

Question is my EGR Valve or filter needs to be replaced. Could this have been caused by the oil gel problem? What is the normal life span of an EGR valve or filter?

Beautiful car [but I'm a bit biased in my opinion LOL].
Anyway is she GT or ST?

It's a GT. Did they even make an ST in '99? I thought I remember someone saying that.

i don't know much about cars so here goes my noob question

ST stands for super turbo and GT stands for Gas Turbine?

it's a manual transmission also
