I bought it. Payed 3200 out the door. Hoorah no power steering! Time to buy some black headlamps, and clear corner/turn signals with nightshade on them. Will also but black housing tail lamps on it. smile.gif

Going for the lowkey look.

looks like low energy flux core. Can you get it on a higher setting? How thick was the gap? Also, you might have had the tip too far away from the metal, causing it to sputter out giving the look we can see.

In all honesty, I think maybe this was such a base model it didn't come with one. Doesn't mean I won't be adding it, that's downright dangerous!

screw that. Give me this! They can even call it a celica if they wish. Base model around 20k with say... a 200ish hp engine. Hyundai would never sell another Tiburon. It'd be over for them.

A Toyota throwback to the 2000gt... would be one sweet ride.

QUOTE (97lestyousay @ Sep 19, 2011 - 5:38 PM) *
nice choice, I want those rims for my 78. lol the only advise I have is be careful buying parts, the 22r block was changed in 1985. Very little pre 85 stuff will interchange. ie 20r head only works on the pre 85 22r. The 22rte manifold is more common than you might think, it is available on some forums and occasionally craigslist. Yotatech had one a few months back.

I have heard you can still order RTE manifolds from toyota for a fair price. If that is the case that is the way I will go. I have been out of the game for a long time. Is the AEM UEGO a true wideband O2 sensing system? Seems a good way to keep tabs on things, though I have heard you can run 7 lbs of boost on a 22re and the stock system will be able to keep up with no modifications.

I talked to the guy at the dealer with the truck yesterday. the truck is a 1995 with 200k miles. They were asking $3500 cash. I offered $3000 and told him I would be back today. He said he had another guy likely coming by to buy it that afternoon. Lol, why does every car dealer say this? Hope he sells it.

Found this truck yesterday. If it is under $3k and 200k miles, it will likely come home with me.

Is that early taco or early "pickup"? I drove a 1986 hilux today, pretty interesting. Thing had 380k miles on the original engine, lol.

Hi all, i doubt most of you remember me. I posted on this board many many years ago. I came back seeking advice from a board I respected years ago (and still had a membership with) smile.gif

I am about to buy an older truck to drive around in, occasionally carry small objects, and overall have fun with. I would Love your input as to what I should get.

First, I have about $8000 to blow on a truck. I'd prefer not to spend it all, but that is what I can do if needed.

My thoughts: early 90's toyota pickup with a 22re engine, a 95-97 tacoma with an RZ engine (i do not prefer the later tacoma body styling), or a mid 90's nissan Hardbody with a KA engine. The truck must be a 5 speed, and I think I will go for a single cab, as I think they look better on these early trucks.

Ideally, I would put some 17-18" rims on it, keep it stock 2wd ride height, and eventually turbocharge it to get somewhere in the neighborhood of 200-220whp. Also, the truck would eventually be painted flat black. I am pretty handy on engine work, and my good friend is the head painter at a local car dealer (in other words, he is my paint guy.) He told me we could have the truck painted for under $500, so that will not be much of an expense.

Here is another kicker, I have a set of 17" black rims, but they are 5 lug (Hardbody is 6 lug). So that makes me look a bit toward the Toyota side.

Thanks, and let me know how you feel. Just pulled 3 random images off google.

Hero

Edit: I think my power goals are more easily attained by the tacoma, though parts are easier and cheaper to find for the Hardbody.

Hi all. used to post here many years back, hopefully there are a couple around whom still remember me.

Long ago I made clear coupe tail lights and clear 94-95 turn signals. My car then proceeded to burn in flames (long story) and I put away all things celica because, at the time, I simply didn't want to see it.

here recently I was cleaning out my shop and found several unfinished pair of clear 94-95 turn signals and tails.

Would anyone be interested in buying some? The deal used to be something like $60 shipped for turns (plus you had to send back your originals so I could make more for other people) and $90 for tails, with the same return deal.

Here are some pictures of the tails.

here is a link to a frontal picture of my celica with clear turn signals
http://www.6gc.net/p/738_6.jpg

If there is interest I can take better images. Frankly I dunno where the other pics are.

Again, this is fishing for interest. Thanks all.

Jon

Holy Resurrection! Yea, those parts are long gone, as is my celi. Quoted from my profile
"More Info

Car was destroyed in a fire as of fall 2006. frown.gif love your car and never drive your Gf home at 2:00 am. If you want some turn signals, or tail lights, PM me."

was a sad day. Fire melted the rims off it was so hot...

yep, just another sign of our falling society. I remember the days of Cal Ripken Jr. when he would stay at the park after games for Hours just to sign baseballs for kids. He broke records because he loved the game, not for personal fame and fortune.

Barry bonds is an American embarrassment in my book. He’s right up there with several of the other morons in various sports throughout this country.

Looks like they are targeting the 350Z there, which indicates a 30k price tag.

if something like this comes out, it'll most likely go under the scion name and be named something ghey like the scion rainbow or scion happiness

lol, indeed.

If toyota were to make one, which I Really dont believe they will, I'd be really interested in a 20kish RWD 'sporty-affordable class' car.

Talk about cutting down the comp...

Well, I have another set of tails coming in, and several of you guys have asked me for carious designs in the past... so, here is your chance to get what you want.

I will try all I can to make one more set of tail lights before I leave for my new apartment\job.

These tail lights will be of a design specified by a buyer whom will guarantee payment.

In other words, you tell me what you want, and I will make them to your specs... to some degree.

So, here are your options\and not going to happens

Options: I can do chrome housings, Tinted housings, yellow, green, salmon, the sky is the limit here. (will be explained more later.)

I can also put a strip of diamond cut plexi in the housings (as you will see)

I wil not(not going to happen) use LED's, or any other drastic and non-realistic mod. Both for my time frame and cost. Who is going to pay the extra $100 in LED's alone after all...

So, here are some pictures and examples:

Here is an example of the standard tail light I make. The top set has a diamond cut plexi piece and the bottom set is totally clear.

HotGoods23's car as an example with no diamond cut

Here is an example of a colored housing. Those shone above were chrome, this set has a black housing with a red reverse lense. I did not make this set, but I forget who did. I am sorry, and I did look, but could not find the member...
IPB Image

I can do black like this, chrome with a darker tint, or any other color (metallic or what have you) that you desire.

A night picture

The price for these will be under $100 shipped. For the standard set I will charge $80 shipped, others will depend upon what I have to buy in order to make them look right.

Feel free to post and PM. I hope to have these done in the next week or so.

Thanks
Jon

I am buying if you are still selling.

I am in Newfoundland, Canada.

How much to buy these and sending expedited to me? 1 or 2 days shipping ( Which really means about 5 days smile.gif )

We just took on a 94 GT to build and finding parts for these cars is impossible.

I am in serious need of clear front bumper signals too.

With all the customs, and other problems, I just don't know if it would be worth it to either of us. I have shipped to canada and other countries before, but I find that nobody is happy at the end of it generally. Sorry.

Excellent work! Good to see other people exploring new possibilities!

Did you chrome the housings and then night shade them or use black paint?

Those are just modified curren tail lights - WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Find something that can be built for a fair price and will look spectacular, and then you can provide that to the celica community (which is lacking in the aftermarket parts area) and then you can say whatever you wish. Till then, you're just some 12 year old kid cursing at people on you tube for kicks and giggles.
