That's a great looking car, very tidy, interior is absolutely stunning, would love those seats in mine. Excuse my ignorance but what kind of bhp does the 2.2 put out, we never had 2.2 Celica in Ireland.

She's definitely lowered. Weird thing is.... post-98' steering wheel with a pre-96 front bumper?

bloody clean car, doesn't look like it has ANY dents.. nice!

look closely, its obvious thats not a 98 99 wheel, its the stock leather wrapped wheel for non airbag 94 95...

Sounds about right, would have thought the later ones came with airbag for driver.

looks like there was an auto to manual swap

Do u think ???? What makes you say that??

well sure doesn't look like any stock shifter iv'e seen in a 6th gen. mabey its just an aftermarket shifter, but by the way theres all that space around the shifter and nothing really covering it, i'd be guessin someone did a swap, either that or mabey switched shifters and didn't feel like putting the covering back on..lol

So because it doesn't look like a stock shifter that you have seen you think there was an Auto to manual conversion done ???? I suggest you have a look at the how to guide on instaling a TRD Quickshift, parhaps after looking at my pictures and than comparing to the pictures in the how to guide you will be enlightened wink.gif

hey neighbour smile.gif
She looks sweet, out of interest, how much is she lowered? I have 30mm lowering apex springs in the boot waiting to go on!
Got it for a great price too!

How's it going boy, yeah she looks well after the clean, think she was a bargain, don't know how much she is lowered as I bought her like that, imagine it's more than 30mm. Being honest I think that it is too low, have to practically stop before a speedbump. If your driving on rural country roads I wouldn't recommend lowering it more than 30mm.

Gave her a right good cleaning today, few pics, also close ups of the wheels to show how close they are to arches as someone was asking was she lowered, hard to tell difference between tyre and arch because she is black so you will have to look closely, put in an interioe pic too, no leathers, tut tut !

Don't know how much the springs actually lower her, or what make they are, they are blue anyway...

It was luck really, I had a deposit on a 1996 Accord Coupe which I was meant to collect yesterday. Lsst Thursday I went with a friend to check out a car he was thinking of buying, he bought the car he was looking at and the Celica was for sale too. As Kevin had just bought a car there and I had told the guy that I was collecting an Accord the following Tuesday we weren't viewed as prospective customers. He told us that he had taken her in as a trade in against a Suzuki Liana (little 1.3 family MPV thing) and that he had made his money on the Liana, He said he would be asking for 5.5 / 6 K Euro

The garage selling me the Accord rang me the following day and told me it had been stolen, so I rang the place where the Celica was and asked what was the price, he said as my buddy had bought the other car and also considering that he had told me what his bottom line was that he wouldn't ask for any more than the bottom line. It's a good deal, garages are asking €7500 for 140 bhp SS1 in from Japan of the same year without alloys over here !! Being honest I don't think that the chap knew that she was a 177bhp SS11 as he generally sells family cars or small cars. She passed the Irish car test 2 weeks ago, has 125000km on the clock and is generally in very good condition. Looks more like 3/4 years old rather than 12, I am delighted with her.

Thanks for positive feedback gents, black is a bummer to keep clean, gets dusty a few mins after cleaning it. Just put in a JVC headunit as she came with original tapedeck one.

With the SSII and the superstrut, close ratio box, TRD quickshift, and the fact she is lowered I have very little planned, I like the original wheels and the roads here are poor enough so don't want to go to 17s or anything, also not a major fan of bodykits, think she will stay the way she is, sorry for being a bore but if it aint broke...............

With the SSII engine and the stainless steel exhaust from the Cat back it is fairly loud when the foot is down, cruising at 60/70 mph it's nearly as quiet as a family car. Am well happy with her. Big clean planned for the weekend, weather permitting smile.gif

Well I am due to pick up my purchase of 1995 JDM 177bhp celica on Tuesday, complete with SuperStrut, close ratio box and TRD Quickshift. Now before I bought it I was warned about the SuperStrut situation but the car seemed fine, also it passed the National Car Test (NCT) on the 21March, now the NCT isn't a wonderful exam of a car but they do check the Nm imbalance across the axles and the car fails if it is shpwing one side weaker than the other, also they physically test the wheels for play etc etc so I am confident enough that she is ok at the moment. However as she is on 125,000 km from what I am seeing on gthe net I can expect trouble soon. So basically per corner what am I looking at financially, I see figures of $1200, €800 and a few hundred GB pounds being talked about, also I read somewhere that the cost has fallen significantly since 2004/2005, to what can anyone tell me????

Thanks in advance all.

JUST BOUGHT A 6 GEN... THROW SUM D's ON THAT B**CH biggrin.gif

inside joke for those in tha states (irish might not get that 1)

3 ideas

1) It's something about new wheels

2) Something "disgusting" involving many gents and a "lady"

3) I don't have a clue

I am leaning towards option 1

hi all, apologies if this is in the wrong section, I purchased a 6th gen Celica yesterday in somewhat unexpected circumstances but I won't bore ye with the details. It's a 1995 JDM SSII with Superstrut and close ratio box. Its black and sitting on standard Toyota 15" alloys, it's a lovely one, only mod is a stainless steel exhaust system from the cat back. It's the 177bhp engine and is quite fast. I was warned about the SuperStrut suspension but it seems fine, its at 120,000km. Collecting it Tuesday, will post some pics later in week.
