Thanks guys,
Im still looking for a celica to buy and hopefully it will be a GT, but Im still looking into all the engines to see how well of Ill be. I searched the forum for some basic information, but all i found was stuff primarily on turbocharging the 7AFE. If I can't manage to pull off an engine swap within a year of getting my celica ill probably be taking that route. Hopefully it doesn't thrash the engine like Im expecting...

Hey guys, Im still looking for a celica to buy, but im still trying to do my research on anything and everything that I can about the cars. As the Topic title states....How reliable is the 7AFE? I know starting out that Im not going to be able to do an Engine swap to the 3S so im just checking how well of Im going to be.

Im looking to get a celica to use as transportation to school and home. I live in Southwest arkansas but am willing to travel to surrounding states. E.G. Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma. Im looking for a celica with a standard transmission, but will take an auto and probably just convert to 5 spd if necessary. Any kind of information that could be provided would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Its probably best that it did go. That car already had a lot of body mods done to it. If i were to buy the car i wouldnt' learn as much about body work with the celica. My dad was going to have it painted right after i bought it. But ya'll are right, another one will come around.

[size=4] I finally found a 6gc thats within my grasp. biggrin.gif Its a 94 ST with a new motor in it. The guy has put a whole lot of work into it to be selling so cheap, but he said that he has a newborn and that he needs a family vehicle. selling his eclipse and celica real cheap. being as the celica was a project car is why he is selling so low though. My dad doesn't want me to get that car b/c i have his to put my money into. lol.

I already said it has a new motor, new rotors, body kit, just needs paint at the moment.....plus he still has his eibach springs and coilover kit that needs to be put on the car and a few others that will go along with the car.

Any Mechanical Problems that need to be fixed on the car? I've been fixing car after car after car because of burt up clutches, engines failing after a week, etc., etc. My dad doesn't want me to get the car because he's worried about having another dead head. another issue would be the money like i said before....depends on the loan. Plus i would need to make a weekend trip down there to check it out and test drive if you would allow it. But like i said before, im only looking into all this because my dad doesn't want me to make the same mistake he did.

The ST is gonna have better fuel economy due to the lowered Displacement. I guess a 2.2 compared to a 1.8 wouldn't really make that big of a difference though. I guess i should update and put GT as well.

Looking into buying a Celica 94-97 ST or GT. It has to be a 5 spd. and prefer the Hatchback but would settle for a coupe. It doesn't matter if it is stock or not, but it does have to run well and have a decent body. The color of the car doesn't matter. Im willing to travel to pick it up, but Im located in East Texas.

Cap for amount that i can possibly pay would be about $3500
