Anybody? I was also considering a 5th gear swap, but due to lack of time to research I have not found what gear I could use. My car rides 3k at 65 and 3.2k at 70 I don't know why yours is higher. I know I'm not help but good luck! Strangely, since my clutch started slipping, my RPMs are a bit lower, closer to your measurements really no point unless you drive a siht ton of miles or can get the tranny cheap/free. cost of tranny > fuel savings. 1/2 off sale at Pick n' Pull till Sep. 5th. According to their price list, would be $80 ($50 + $30 core charge) during the sale, if I can find one. Plus it is about noise/comfort as well. Have you looked into the 7th gen Celica C60 tranny? It's a 6-speed, supposedly bolts right up. When I fist got this car, everyone was saying it wouldn't work. Plus, except for 1st and 6th gears, they are all shorter, including the final drive which is 4.529 according to wikipedia. |

I am interested in some of the 1.8L stuff, depending on shipping: Alternator \_ (Are these really only 200 miles? Or 200K miles? I only ask because I notice a lot of people on craigslist are not bothering with the "k" anymore) Distributor / Injectors (How many miles?) Don't suppose you have a low mileage 7AFE clutch too? How many miles on the motor mount? Are these parts a direct bolt up to a US Celica ST? just want to confirm, the alt looks different with that shroud on it (or I haven't really looked at mine lol). Where are you located? I'm assuming Canada, which may kill it for me right now. Would be shipping to 94928 in the us. |

My clutch needs changed and I am considering replacing the manual transmission in my ST with one from a 7AFE corolla with the 3.722 final drive while I have the transmission out. Might even be able to get a straight trade if I can find someone that wants faster acceleration in their corolla. Has anyone done this, and how did it affect the drive-ability around town and your fuel economy? It should improve highway mileage but wondering whether the car will require a lot more throttle (and gas) around town. I really want to improve the MPG of the car, especially at freeway speeds. Looking at fueleconomy.gov though, the 7th gen Corollas didn't really have much better gas mileage, despite having the taller final drive ratio (all other gears are the same), weighing ~100lbs less than the 6th gen celica, and having .01 lower Coefficient of Drag (corolla has slightly higher frontal area, with CdA 6.58 vs celica CdA 6.54). By the 97 model year, the 7g corolla and 6g celica 7AFEs were getting a couple more MPG than at introduction. Does anybody know where this came from? maybe the facelift bumper design on the celica, etc? Or was there a transmission/gearing/tuning change that someone knows the details of? What about 5th gear swaps? I've done a lot of searching here and the only thing I saw that really talked about it was someone mentioning that 5th gear from a Toyota Levin GT-Z would work. If anyone can point me to a source for taller 5th gears that will work with an ST manual, it would be appreciated. It would be cheaper and easier, or could combine with the taller final drive for even lower cruising RPMs. I know I could get some improvements with aeromods (grill blocking, rear wheel skirts, etc.), and I'll be working on those if I decide to keep the car, but I need to at least get the RPMs down in 5th gear, as my engine gets loud at/after 2800RPM (55MPH). Engine is at 3200RPM at `65MPH in fifth. Thanks |

If the axles are knocking only during full-lock turning (low speed, quick acceleration), is it probably/definitely too late for just a cleaning and repacking? Guess a cleaning and re-lubrication will most likely make it last longer, either way... Thanks |

Tan interior. Dark Metallic Blue (not original). 49 states model (few more HP than Cali spec). Bought the car in AZ a few years ago, brought to Cali last year. Passed smog then, will need to smog again before sale (will do that if I get a serious buyer). Registration is coming due on Dec. 21st Car has Cruise Control, which is kind of rare option on the ST. Paint could be better, and there are some dings here and there. Just got a brand new battery w/ 3 year warranty (killed the old one by not driving it for a few weeks). I've started disconnecting the negative cable if I'm not driving for a few days. AC works great, gets cold fast. Has Yokohama AVID touring tires w/ less than 15K miles on them (40K rated I think). I bought road hazard coverage when I got them, not sure if that would transfer. The tires are on 15" VW alloys (I have the hub caps too). Might take some off the price if you have your own wheels and tires to swap onto the car. Still gets mid 30's on longer freeway/highway trips. I have stock airbox installed, also have a spectre cone filter and pipe intake cut to size available for extra if you are interested. entry bolster on the drivers side is rough w/ flaking foam as per the norm on these. Passenger and rear seats are nice. Has the thick padded console armrest, which I reupholstered myself a couple years ago (came out pretty good). Contact me for full details on the car and we can set up a time to see it if you are interested. |

1994 Toyota 6th Gen Celica Power windows, doors, steering, etc. Cruise Control. AC works good, gets cold fast. Windows are tinted (driver window could stand to be redone). I put a dash mat in as soon as I got the car. Has it's share of dings and flaws. Could use new stereo and speakers. Alarm needs rewired or removed. Driver's seat bolster torn. Rest of the seats are good. Paint could be better, but it's not oxidized like most cars this age (was repainted in dark metallic blue before I bought it). Couple rusty spots on hood where paint is chipped. Bumper paint is peeling from low speed impact (some drunk didn't put truck in park, rolled into my parked car. ) No tailight damage, no body damage underneath (I removed taillight to look. Takes a minute to do, easy to check). 195,000 miles on the odometer. Had 182K when I bought it. Did a compression check after buying the car, tested at 209 to 215 psi, which is very near the brand new spec for this engine. I put platinum split-fire spark plugs in it (I would go back to regular once they are worn out, easier to gap). Drove it a couple thousand miles, then got new tires. Wheels are Volkswagen wheels (same bolt pattern as Toyota) Tires are Yokohama Avid Touring 205/60/15 and have about 10K miles on them. I bought the tires new. These were the highest rated tires for road noise, ride comfort, and tire wear according to tirerack.com and several other websites. I will take $160 off if you have wheels and tires to put on the car so I can keep what's on there. Car has cruise control, which is pretty rare for a Celica ST. I have primarily used 89 octane gas since owning the car. Calculating gas mileage, seems to get up a couple MPG more using 89 octane vs. regular unleaded. I would get about 34 MPG between here and Arizona, with speeds ranging from 55 to 73. This includes going through the Tehachapi mountains. I smogged the car on Dec. 30th, smog certificate still good for a couple weeks, so I need to sell ASAP. I meant to sell right away after smogging and registering, but have been depressed. Registration good till Dec 22nd 2010. Asking $2500 obo. I will try to get pictures of the car and post soon. Please reply with your phone number, and only if you know where Rohnert Park is (Sonoma County California, about 1 hour north of San Francisco ) and are willing to come here to look at the car. |

first, remove the tails. There is a bolt on either side of the plate holder behind the tails. The holder is held in by plastic "pegs", just pull on the holder and it will come strait out. here is a pic, not the best but all I have right now (you can see 3 of the white pegs in the pic) ![]() I am trying to remove the bumper cover so I can see if there is any hidden damage from a rear-ending. I am stuck on the plate holder/panel. I have all the pegs out, but the panel is still being held near the top center. Something to do with the license plate lights? |

1. Remove rear lights. Remove screws from the trunk. 2. Remove license plate holder thingy. 3. Remove 3 screws under license plate holder thingy and 2 plastic clips 4. Remove scres from under the bumper. 5. Remove 4 screws(2 on each side) that are in the rear trunk compartments. This is for a coupe not a hatchback. I have a diagram off the manual if you want it scanned. How exactly do we "Remove license plate holder thingy" ? Do we need to remove the trunk latch bolts? The license plate lights? I have a 94 hatchback and it is free everywhere except the top middle. My car got hit on the right rear of the bumper, need to take the bumper cover off so I can see if there was any hidden damage to the body. Links to a walkthrough w/ pics if you know of one. Thanks |

where are you located and could you post up some pictures? I am in Rohnert Park, about 50 minutes north of SF, 40 minutes west of Napa. I will try to take pics, but I don't think the scuffs will show up well, I think I tried taking pics once before. They may buff out, I never bothered. If you are nearby, it would be best to see it in person. |

I have a Seibon CF hood for a 6th gen Toyota celica (years 1994 to 1999). Was only installed for a few months last summer, and was usually under a car cover when car was not being driven around. There are some scratches on the clear coat, which is not yellowed. This is the condition that I purchased the hood(was new, discounted for scratches). If you are cosmetically inclined, you might want to get a new clear coat, but this would be great for a racer looking to shed some wieght from their 6gc. I just want to get most of my money back(these are like $450 or $550 new, plus shipping) Asking $300 obo. Needs to go! |

Does going wingless affect the handling of the car under normal driving conditions? I saw in another thread that the 2 post spoiler creates around 250kg of downforce (50kg w/ riser blocks), according to the Toyota engineers. |

http://freespace.virgin.net/shalco.com/tte_ST205.htm This article may shed some light on the matter. This is for the GT-FOUR rear spoiler however. In particular: The purpose of the rear wing is to correct the inherent balance disadvantage of a transverse-engined car compared with longitudinal-engined models like Fords and Subaru's. The aerofoil has been designed to minimise drag losses while still increasing the downforce and it is effective from 100-120 kph upwards. "We get better traction and it makes the car more stable. The wing has two positions, up and down, with removable distance pieces... The amount of downforce is influenced by ride height and we still have to carry out wind tunnel tests, but it's expected that there will be 50 kg of downforce at 100 kph with the wing in the up position, and maybe five times more than that with the wing at the low position." According to this, my understanding is that the 2-post spoiler produces more downforce without the GT-Four riser blocks. My question is, is all this downforce really necessary on the lighter engined ST? Will the ST be better off with or without the spoiler, from a drag/ fuel economy standpoint? If you can point me to other such discussions, it would be appreciated |

Can you get some side shots, along with an angle shot from the side/rear? I didn't think I liked the coupe, but your car has me thinking...doesn't the coupe have more rear headroom than the liftback? Nice car! |

Could you put the e153 5th gear in the ST's C52 tranny or would that cause problems with the synchro? Would you need to make a custom synhro? Would love to get the revs down for highway driving. You may be able to tell that I don't know a lot, just what I want to do ![]() Anybody know if you would need a custom synchro if you changed 5th gear? Is the shaft the same size on c52 and e153? What about .706 4th gear from the GT Auto transmission? Could this be used for 5th gear in a manual? Any OEM toyota 5th gears that come under the .713 e153 5th, or .706 GT Auto 4th gear? The e153 gear would drop the RPMs by 375, which is a good start, a 600 RPM drop would be ideal (engine gets loud after 2800 RPM). The ST has so much potential for gas mileage, it's just hampered by the gearing (which I believe was designed for Japanese highways, with a 60MPH speed limit). I am also interested in ride comfort, the engine gets so loud at highway speeds (sometimes I'll wear earplugs!) Would like to improve this factor as well. May be solved by going back to stock airbox w/ the lower resonator box reinstalled. |

i had one from my 96 st same engine. send me a picture of part you need. Here's a pic of what I need: ![]() The intake manifold end of mine broke off when I removed it for the short ram intake. The resonator box can be removed, to fit a smaller shipping box and to keep the weight down, as long it won't damage the snorkel. Getting the car back to stock for smog and to sell, so I want to keep cost down as much as I can. |

Need a replacement plastic intake snorkel, mine broke when I removed it for a short ram intake tube. Going back to stock. I don't need the little resonator box. You can take it off for size and weight savings on the shipping box. |
