QUOTE(D-Man @ Feb 26, 2008 - 9:26 PM) okay, so i just changed my rotors... I did the pads as well, everything was done correctly. I live by the law of doing it once, and doing it right. However, with the new rotors, on the front driver side, there is a tocking noise when i stop (tick-TOCK) tock noise. I can feel it in my break pedal as well, and i had another member (an ace of trades) over this night to help me trouble shoot the problem... At first i thought it to be a loose clip (between the caliper and the pad) but i have readjusted it 3 times, and with my buddy over we did it again. This time we bent the flex of the clip to ensure proper connectivity. However it still tocked... It is a noise that you can not only hear, but feel as well in the pedal. It's driving me nuts. This was not an issue on the old rotors. Plus, i know for a fact that the rotors are not warped, it only does this on breaking. could i get any ideas? help? something? WTF? theese are nice rotors and i dont wanna revert back due to this... I had a similar problem with the back (tick tocking) and it was the brake pad moving around, the mechanic welded a little piece onto the brake pad to make it fit better, no knocking scince. Just my 2c |

Thanks for your replies. Yes it is a hard plastic one attached to the air box. I figured the stock one was designed specifically for the engine so i just got another from the wreckers and replaced it, 5 minute job. Boosting very nicely now, I beleive st215 boost 14psi standard 257hp. The other reason i didnt go for hks or turbosmart was the price and i dont particularly want a loud one. Going to hok up the boost gauge tommorrow should be fun. |

I have recently sold my 6g celica and purchased a st215 gtt caldina. Couldnt find any forums that deal with the caldina so thought i would post here as the 3sgte is very similar to the on in the st205. The factory blow off valve is leaking, the cover pops off all the time. I can clip the cover back into place and it works ok but then it pops off and just starts leaking again, very frustrating. Do i just need to replace the unit or is it a common problem thats easy to fix. Cheers. |

QUOTE(crandsberry @ Feb 7, 2008 - 3:24 PM) well you guys are right, the intake manifold has to come off first. I only know this because i have the same engine standing in my garage. If you jack up the car, support the engine and remove the rear mount and cross member, and maybe the right axle and tie rod, all of which arent too too difficult. You may have enough room to scoot back there and reach the manifold bolts. ![]() Im not sure, You may not need to remove that much stuff, youll find out when you get back there. If you want i could take a few pictures highlighting the bolts you need to reach, theres actually a couple weird ones that are between the runners. Na it's cool, thanks for the offer though, ill leave it to the mechanic, knowing my luck ill have oil pissing out from anywhere and everywhere. Thanks for the help. |

Ive got a 96 ss2 with a 3sge and the valve cover gasket needs replacing. I have viewed a detailed post with pictures on how to do it however my engine is different. There seems to be alot more stuff on top of and around the cover. My question is how do i go about removing the intake manifold in order to remove the valve cover? or do i even have to? Some of the bolts in between where the spark plugs go are very hard to get to also, any tips on how to remove these? |

I want to add velocity stacks to my 1996 3sge engine basically cos they look cool. I have a few questions, firstly do i have to buy a quad throttle body set-up to get them? Can i run the on the stock ecu by just moving the air flow sensor? How much hp gains or throttle response gains can i expect from this setup? |

It's super strut so can you buy bearings by themselves? |

Failed compliance today due to play in my rear left hand wheel, took to mechanic and he confirmed the bearing needs replacing but wasn't sure whether the whole hub needed replacement or just the bearing, looking to confirm. It's a 1996 3SGE st202 manual. Also is it possible to do this job myself? Im not that experienced but ill give anything a go. |

I had the exact same problem you are describing, took it to the mechanic and he found the rear brake pads had some room to move inside the calipers and were clunking around, he welded a little space onto both brake pads and wham, no more clunking! |

Damn now i feel dumb. There is a little story to this one. I decided to check my spark plugs today to see if they had too much oil on them. Plug 1 came out fine but plug 2 weeeeeeeeell, plug 2 had snapped off at the bottom of the white bit of the spark plug, no idea what it's called. From then on it was damn near impossible to remove with my socket set, tried everything. It was obviously loose in there but couldnt get a grip on it. I was firing up the car to drive it to the mechanic and low and behold the pressure spat it out. Replaced spark plug and no longer have a rough idle! |

After my last service the mechanic told me i should look at getting the rocker cover gasket replaced as it was leaking a little. After changing my spark plugs recently i noticed some oil leaking onto the spark plugs wich would be a direct result of this leaking. Also recently the engine has been idling roughly, the car shakes a little but doesnt stall, it's noticeable from inside the car. Also the engine seems to hesitate under acceleration but gets better as the engine warms up. Could this oil on the spark plugs cause the rough idle or is it something else? |

Dont suggest changing the valve cover gasket yourself unless you know what your doing. Mucking it up could have dire consequences. |

I have a 96 ss2 celica st202. Have had no problems with it so far however when im slowing down or just cruising at around 30 km/h i hear a faint knocking noise that sounds like its coming from the rear of the car. The noise doesnt occur under braking but i think the main reason i cant hear the noise at higher speeds is the engine volume at higher speeds. Anybody got any ideas of what it could be? I recently had it serviced and im gonna be a little peeved if it was missed. |

Have just installed 2 x 8" Boschmann Subs that come as part of a component set into the front doors, they fit perfectly into the stock mount, found it quite easy getting the speaker wire through from the door into the cab as well, definately alot easier than i expected, maybe 1 hours work total. Now have those in the front doors with fusion powerplant 6.5" 2 ways in the rear all running off fusion 4 channel powerplant 800w amp, sounding good. Plans for the future to have component sets for both fronts and rears and 1 or maybe 2 12" powerplant woofers in the trunk. Any thoughts or suggestions? Cheers |

There is and online auction im looking at for a ST205 3SGTE Turbo, this claims tthis manifold and turbo will bolt straight on to an st202 celica. Is this true and will there need to be any other mods to the ST202 to get it working? (It is a CT26 Turbo and manifold) |
