Sitting here bored at work and I randomly remember this website and figured I'd come back to check it out. Can't believe it's been 10 years. Man, it made me realize that my old 95 GT was my favorite car I've ever owned. Nothing beat cruising down the coast with the windows and sunroof open. That car taught me so much about working on cars and maintenance as a teenager. I spent hours on this website everyday reading posts and drooling over everyone else's rides. I learned more from the technical forums here than anywhere else. Anytime I had an issue I'd post up the problem and someone always a a quality answer that was exactly what I needed. Right up until that cars last days I'd still get compliments on it and it probably garnered more compliments than any car I've owned.

Since then I've owned an 05 Mustang and a 2012 Ford Focus and for some strange reason an 89 Mazda 323. None of those came close to the enjoyment of my Celica.

Thanks awesome people of 6GC.net.

Hero: I'm not really willing to hold them for one person. sorry. I've had some bad experiences with that kinda situation before. If they are around for another week though I'll definitely give you a heads up. Oh and yes you are correct about the harness.

Ladies and gentlemen I do need to get rid of these ASAP and will consider any REASONABLE offer.

I have a pair of JDM tails for sale. I sold my 6gc a long time ago but held on to these in the hopes that someone else might want them. They have the clear corner mod already done to them. The back is sealed very well and I never had problems with condensation. I need to sell these fast. I'm a college student and need money ASAP. Looking for $175 + shipping OBO. I'm located in Canoga Park/Woodland Hills CA if you want local pick-up. Thanks for checkin this out.

Hey man, saw this thread and had to put my 2 cents in. If you're also thinking about college don't forget about ROTC. I actually just started AFROTC (Air Force Reserve Office Training Corps) and so far its been great. The camaraderie is unparalleled and I can already tell you that the friends you make in the military will be there for the rest of your life. I was blown away when I saw the kind of brotherhood the military gives you. One time my celica broke down when I was in uniform and two separate active duty AF members pulled over to help. It's great. But on another note ROTC is a long road. It will be four more years till I commission but it will all be worth it when I have a degree under my belt and I'm flyin an F-15.

Just something to think about, it's a hard decision and shouldn't be taken lightly.

Dont know if anyone noticed but these lights are on the same celica as these photochopped lights from an earlier thread.

Same guy in Japan who sells them? Or maybe something a little fishy? Just a heads up.

I hava a keyless entry from bulldog... Wiring it was a learning experience to say the least but they usually give you some really good instructions with vehicle specific guides. In the end it turned out great (and a insanly long range for the remote) but I cant really say anything as to the alarms.

Just my two cents, bulldog turned out great for me.

I still think it's your thermostat.

O.k just got the celica back and the culprit was the thermostat!!! What the hell I changed it for a brand new one! I didn't find out why though because my mechanic had to leave early, i'm gonna call him tommorrow so i can get all the details. I still cant believe that it was the thermostat, Batman you nailed it right on the head.

Thanks to everyone who helped, i learned alot.

eroded water pump, air pocket.

just to be sure its not the head gasket, get a combustion gas test kit. you add a chemical to a sample of your coolant and if it turns blue or something then you have CO2 in your coolant which means a combustion leak into the cooling system.

Well I'm going to try to take it to the mechanic tomorrow, should be the end of this probem. I really dont have too much time during the week to do this stuff. Although I learned a hell of alot with compression testing, changing the thermostat, and I actually want to do it myself so I can learn more. If I feel adventurous enough tomorrow I will give this combustion gas test thing a try. If not mechanic.

O.k so I did a compression test...twice, just to make sure the numbers were right.

First time

195,195,205,210

Second Time

190,200,205,210

What do you think?

It came straight from the dealer, picked it up myself. I'll see if I can track down a compression test kit, looks like it could be a good thing to add to any toolbox. Then I will check it tommorrow. Thanks for the help.

Well it didn't work...back to square one. But the old thermostat didnt look like my new one. The old one lacks a bleeding valve and the new one looks substantially beefier. Any more ideas?

head gasket can be an issue too? if u went past the red u have warped the head and need to replace the gasket and machine the head again. i'm surprised u didn't kill it

Well I only drove it around the block once and figured that it might not do any harm. I didnt think it would get so hot so fast. But in hindsight it wasn't the greatest idea. Thanks I'll look into that too. Right now I am going to replace the thermostat and look to see if there is any deris in the cooling fins while it's cool out. Hope it works. Thanks

does your coolant smell...well it should smell like coolant. if it smells sickly or like exhaust...not a good thing.

Yes it smells like it should...

I picked up the thermostat today, twenty bucks from the dealer so i figure if i ordered it off the net it would come to about the same. Tommorrow morning I will switch it out. I will also check on the debris in the radiator fins while im there, but i dont know what could be in there.

By the way thanks to everyone. This is really helpin me out. thumbsup.gif

yeah that sounds awesome...i guess i will see if i can swing by the dealer today and pick both those parts up. Yes, its the 5S.

Edit: $66 for the thermostat?! or is that just regular dealership prices? If so anywhere i can get it for cheaper? I need to save as much as I can but cant afford to have my baby off the road for this long.

Alright 6GC People I need your help...

Today after driving for about fifteen/twenty minutes I parked and noticed that the temp gauge read above the red line and the H. Popped the hood and heard gurgeling coming from the radiator with some overflow. I let it cool down for an hour then came back and drove around the block a couple times. I noticed that the temperature goes through the roof when it starts and slowly climbs. But when i hit about 40mph it cools down to about 3/4 of the way and when i stop it goes straight back up. I had a similar problem like this before and it was a bad water pump which was replaced a few weeks ago. Today there was no coolant on the ground just the few drops that spilled from the overflow. The engine seemed to be running fine and I wouldnt have noticed anything wrong with it unless i looked at the temp gauge. So can anyone help me? Any ideas? I'm stumped.

Unfortunatly I have the same problem and I am pretty broke so a new windshield is out of the question but sometimes when driving into the sun I cant even see. So I gotta do something asap. I ordered a glass polishing kit. http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=...temType=PRODUCT Hopefully it will help. I'll let you know how it turns out.
