I've been screwing around with mine for some time. Harness shorted at back of instrument cluster. Instrument cluster needs replacing and I still haven't found the male connector I need. Toyota dealer will sell me nothing less than the ENTIRE dash wire harness. Hope your solution is easier. The only way to access unit is by dropping steering column.

I paid $3150 for mine (98 vert) with serious issues. wish I'd have seen this sooner. I wouldn't go cheaper cuz it's not the price it's gotta be the right buyer. good luck

Dude,
Uh, well, yes. Dec. is a bad month. Very busy. Garage cold. Will get more pix soon. Was thinking of buying from toyota-parts-dealer.com prices seem ok. I had good luck with Hebert's used auto parts on ebay so far.. more later

Well Finally got that thang out!!! Had to remove alot of stuff. I haven't figured out how to undo the wiring harness from the dash, so it's kinda just hanging there. Thanx to celicast3sgte and others for support. No thanks to my Haynes manual which was worthless. I really need to figure out why my speedo fried before I replace it. I have lots to do while it's a tore up. I'd like to do white gauge faces while i rebuild. More pix soon.

This is the way I bought it. I'm not sure what happened. I think previous owner smacked the front end, bent a wheel, broke motor mounts, and more. I believe the nose was replaced (used) radiator replaced (new) something probably got into the heater core to crack it and somehow a short blew the instrument cluster. Thats when they said "f*** it" and sold it. I bought it on ebay for $3150.00. I still love it and promise to put this car together nicely.

Looks alot like my int. which I guess is encouraging. OK alot cleaner. Did you get the heat/ac unit out with dash in? Do you need a sterring wheel tool to get it off?

Sorry, All I can do is agree. I've got my whole dash tore up and moved on from trying to undo that booger. From underneath the duct is loose and I still couldn't budge that thing

Ok this project officially sucks. I have been at it for many hours now and am unsure where this path will go. Ihave all of the unside of the dash out and the two supports on either side of the center which helped me wrestle the black air box out. I've undone all the clips and pain in the rear screws I could find and that heater box still is not coming out I think I might need to remove the entire dash next mad.gif Any advice is welcomed. Will put pix in next.

Well this is the first major job on my 98 vert. I've dismantled most of the underside of the dash and am now trying to figure out the (hopefully) last stage. Undoing the heater assembly and getting that booger out. I'm getting a little frustrated and could use advice of anyone who's been down in there. I'll try to get some pics up soon for others in similiar situation.
