are the door panels that have the standard (single speaker in the door) and premium stereo (two speakers in the door) set ups interchangeable?

i have a 94 ST with the single speaker and want to install a mid bass and a mid range in the door. i thought i'd see i could just swap out interior door panels before i go cutting the ones i have.

i have a 94ST and have removed my front speakes for a future install. i'm waiting for the new imagedynamics 8s to come out.

anyway, the front speakers are 6 1/2s mounted into a metal ring piece that is 8 inches which is connected to a plastic housing type piece that is bolted to the metal frame of the inner door. you can remove the plastic housing piece then remove the speaker from it to make installing easier. or if you want to go with 8s up front, you can then remove the metal ring piece from the plastic housing then use MDF to adapt the new speaker to the plastic housing.

the rears are 6 1/2 and would be an easy drop in install.

you could get a set of JBL GTOs for the front and a JBL GTO sub for less tha $200 from Crutchfield and just keep the stock rears for now, and you'd hear a vast improvement. cheers

this morning i paid 3.05 for regular unleaded. it cost me $39.65 for 13 gallons. i had reset the trip odometer the last time i filled up. so i figuered out i'm getting about 28 MPG. my commute is 50/50 city and highway.

valentine 1, got to love the arrows that show where the radar is coming from and the counter. prime example: there's a convience store at a light i always get a false reading from on my commute and the V1 shows an arrow to the left and the counter shows 1. the other day the ahead arrow lit up and the counter showed 2. sure enough about 50 yards from the intersection there was a cop off on a side street speed trapping. also i have a buddy who works out of town and drives through alot of small towns where the local cops like to set up speed traps. his V1 has warned him countless times in the 2 years he's had his valentine 1.

anyone know the mounting depth and how much clearence there is between the speaker grill/ door panel on a 94 ST with power windows and locks?

i ran across the tutorial on putting 8 inch speakers in the doors and need to know how much room i have so i can start shopping for some 8s.

also if anyone who has put 8s in thier doors could tell me a what speakers they used, what frequencies they are playing, if they're running them active or passive, and what the rest of thier system consist of, i'd greatly appreciate it.

i'll be using a DLS Iridium mid range and tweeter with whatever 8 i get (all run actively).
