Hmmm....it's the old Supra vs Skyline debate....a car with new technology and superior comfort versus an icon with superior potential. Pros of the G35: Admiration from older adults, VIP style, modern technology (traction/stability control, GPS, more airbags), AWD (on some), better availability of parts, quiet interior Pros of the Supra: Admiration from teenagers and college kids, boy racer style, huge potential power, higher retention of value Cons G35: Not a unique car (price drop for used ones are allowing everyone and their mothers to buy one) Cons Supra: Not a unique car (anymore, face it, what every you do to a Supra, it's been done a thousand times over), it's old and parts are getting harder to find, finding an unmolested Supra is hard Personally, I'd choose a G35x (if price were the same). Modern technology, cleaner/quieter/better looking interior outweighs icon status any day for me. That's funny you say how the Supra doesn't "appear" as anything special to older folks as far as admiration goes. My crappy Celica with GT-Four exterior even turns the heads of people in BMWs, Jags, and just about every luxury, sport, and modified car in my city, breaking their necks as I drive by (old or young, doesn't matter, and when I say old, I am even talking gray hair in these puppies). I even had an old man in his 60's or 70's try to race me in his Jag X7 or something like that (which he would have killed me). So with that said, I am sure the Supra is more impressive to look at vs my car. And who cares if it has or hasn't been done. Not many people can say they can get their hands on one so easily. With the majority of people wrecking them being spoiled rich and thinking they can handle one with discipline until it is Fubar'd, it just makes it even more worthy to have stick around and protected, as it is an endangered species. In fact, with that said. OP, if you want a car to modify and try to speed on places you shouldn't be doing so. I am going to say "DO NOT GET THE SUPRA". I would hate for you or anyone else to wreck another one. Now if you want a nice, sporty, sexy car to DD and take good care of? By all means, take on the Supra. Just don't go Fast and Furious on her (unless you are on a course and can easily repair her unlike the damages of these on the street), please. That's my .02 Yes...you do have a valid point. I get those "turning heads" in my stock celica ST haha. Boy does it feel good....that is until a EVO or someone tries to race me hahaha. I think I just need to test drive both of these babies to make a firm decision. |

The Supra's interior is pretty good for what it is for its time. The leather seats are gonna be dry and crack though for the most part when you get one. >.< I'm in the air about my G's interior. Seats are comfy, the heated seats are a plus especially for tonight's weather. 78* out, windows down, heated seats on and still feel comfy and not nipply or cold lol thats funny. Man and I think a newer car like the G would have those issues fixed. So which interior do YOU think is better. Like would you swap a Supra interior into your G lol? You seem pretty cool... I'm going to have to meet up with you. |

Man that pic just made me love the Supra all over again haha. Its amazing how an 10+ year old car can still look modern. I like the interior b/c I could care less about what the passenger sees b/c I'll put a T.V in the dash. I'm more or less concerned about whether the Supra feels cheap in the inside. If it doesn't then I'm comfortable with how the supra's interior/exterior looks. Thanks for posting pictures. |

I've got a 6MT G35 coupe and I enjoy it for the most part. It's got it's quirks much like other cars, but the one thing that really bugs me though is the clutch in a couple of aspects. The stock rubber clutch line is terrible in Houston traffic especially when temps hit 90+. After about 30-45 minutes in traffic, the pedal gets mushy and will stick to the floor and you'll have to lift up the pedal with your foot. This results in burning your clutch pretty good. Changing your fluid to DOT4 and the clutch line to a SS line solves this problem. Clutch engagement is kinda weird and it makes you feel like a noob sometimes. On top of that, there's some control valve on the master cylinder that'll prevent you from doing a proper burn-out and will cause you to go through your clutch pretty bad. Other than that, I love the car and I enjoy driving it everyday since it's my daily. We have a G35 meet on Sunday (10/4) at 4PM at the Hooters on 1960/249 if you're interested in going. As far as the Supra, they have a ton of potential both in NA and TT form. But again as CAMAricer mentioned, if you've thought of a mod to do to the Supra, it's been done a hundred times over and almost literally too. The attraction of the Supra to teenie racer boys is true. A local recently got rear-ended by a teenage pizza boy because the kid was admiring his car too much to bother holding the brakes on his own car. Great cars in stock form though and having driven a couple of Supras (MK3 and MK4) the ride's pretty nice and comfortable. Don't expect to have back seat passengers though. The MK4's interior is VERY driver orientated giving the driver full control of everything. The TT back in the mid-'90s was known to have THE best brakes in the world up until the McLaren SLR showed up. You'll have more guys creaming themselves over the fact that you have a Supra than girls cuz most of them don't know what the hell a Supra is. lol In the G, you'll get some attention from women, but it's a little hard since everyone and their mother has a G35. The Supra's a great car, but you're paying new car value for an 11+ year old car that's bound to need parts replaced soon. Expect to pay at least $20K for a TT with ~130K+ miles and ~$15K for an NA. The G35 on the other hand will be newer, less problems and will still have a factory warranty on it at the minimum depending on what year you buy and how many miles. If you try hard enough and are patient, you can probably find a G37S for about $25K. It's really up to you though. In my opinion, if it's gonna be a daily driver or something close to it, then I'd pick the newer car. But if it's gonna be the weekend warrior, then I'd go for the Supra. Personally, I would've picked the Supra over the G, but I didn't like the idea of paying the new car price tag on an old car and still have to worry about maintenance on my current income. Again, all of this is my opinion. I do suggest you do a lot of research on both cars. visit www.g35driver.com for the G and my350z.com for the info on the VQ series engine, and Supraforums.com and Supra411.com for more info on the Supra. Hey, thanks a million for your opinion/review. Your input has made my decision a little easier...I guess I'll decide it by price. I can get a Supra cheaper than I can a g35 with like 40k miles so thats really got me confilcted....plus as you said...the women will probably like a g35 more. I will of course get the car for me but I also want a car to where when the girl gets in..she not necessarily having to peer over to my "cockpit" to see the cd player lol. |

Thank you all for your comments. Some of them had me dying laughing lol. Anyhow, I'm looking at a DD. I thought Supra's where reliable enough as a daily driver? Also, how is the interior of a Supra? I always here about the ungodly power of these beasts of man but never the interior.....maybe there is a reason? I guess that's more or less what I'm interested in...the "ride". After I get the Supra/g35 I plan on getting a Lexus so I'll have a comfortable car down the road but I also want a step up in comfort from what I currently own now(celica). |

Hey guys. I'm thinking about buying a Supra or g35 but am having a difficult time deciding which one to go with. I'm looking for a variety of things in which I will base my decision on so if you've driven/rode in both of these cars your opinion will be highly appreciated. I've never been in a Supra but I've rode in a g35 and it was nice. It was very comfortable and felt like I had a little money lol. I really would like to know which car has the better "ride". Does the interior of a Supra look and feel cheap? If someone could just give me a brief "review" of both cars and your opinion on which car to go with it would be highly appreciated. |
