I'm looking into getting 17" wheels and tires in the same package if I can. Someone I know ordered a package from tirerack.com and they wheels came with the tires on them already balanced. Is there another good place to get them. Also, why is there such a big price range? Some are as cheap as $100 and some go up to $1000? WTF? Is there anything wrong with getting cheap 100$ rims? And I also have no idea what makes a good tire. I need something that will grip through my aggressive turning when I drive (I take a lot of back roads where I live). But I don't want to sacrifice comfortability. I've never bought any of this stuff so i'm kinda lost... |

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but If you took out the cat on my 94 GT, it would lose back pressure and therefore would cause me to loose power instead of gain power, right? And isn't the point of putting headers is to get rid of back pressure, so again, you'd be losing power? And then the same thing goes for the high flow cat. All will cause you to lose power. Please correct me if I am wrong, I don't know too much about this stuff ![]() and since where I live i must have a catalytic converter, the best option for me would be to have the headers and high-flow magnaflow cat, or could i keep the original cat and still have increased power? |

Thanks. If i get one I think I'll go with the SRI or something with shorter piping because I use this car for everything and drive it through all weather and I don't want the CAI catching any water, mud or snow. What does NA and FI stand for? |

I have a 94 GT and if I ever decide to do anything about increasing the performance, I will install an intake and exhaust system. But I have a couple of questions about both. Intake: Are there intakes available to buy where I will not have to move anything in the engine to install it? And I see this term "forced induction," it that a type of Cold Air Intake or it that term related to a turbocharger? If anyone could give suggest a company to get it from (I was thinking K&N but it didn't seem they had any for my year celica). Or would it be better to get a SRI? Exhaust: Say I was to get a cat-back exhaust system, what size should I get? Also, if i got a BIGGER exhaust, would it be a good idea to increase the size of the downpipe to that same size (if thats even possible) or should i just leave it alone? Sorry for all the questions, but I am trying to learn as much as I can. Oh... and please don't give me any crap about how little horsepower i'll get. I'm doing it for the experience of working on my car. I was considering about using that honda accord intake but not sure whether I should try to mess with that. |

The bushings (that bolt into the frame) and hold the sway bar underneath in the rear are worn and when I drive and hit bumps the sway bars make noise (getting replaced soon). Do you think this could be contributing to the problem. It just seems like the reasonable conclusion since it only happens when the car is given gas. And I think torque steer exists (to an extent) in any FWD car that has one drive shaft longer than the other. But if some people on this forum can post and tell me that their automatic 94 GT (original engine) doesn't torque steer, It would help a lot so I can definitely rule out torque steer as the cause. Also, I don't even know what a loose control arm is... and when you say factory specs, how would I find those out? Because I definitely would like to check that out. And it's not a fast jerk, it's a slower steadier turning of the steering wheel. Like I said, i'm pretty sure it's not the alignment because when no gas is used, the car drives straight. But with the slightest bit of gas it will slowly start turning right. In probably about 3 -5 seconds I would be crossing out of my line if I was going about 30 MPH. Just to give you an idea of the severity. |

Steering wheel is aligned, tires are aligned and while traveling down the road without stepping on the gas, the car is perfectly straight. But when i hit the gas, the car wants turn right. I was told by a mechanic that since it's an older vehicle, it doesn't have sensors to compensate for this thing he called torque steer. Does this sound right to anyone? This might be obvious for some people, but as my username states, this is my first car. |

Sorry, I wasn't sure what it's called, but I have the original remote startup thing for my 94 GT. It's banana shaped with three buttons. One button is green and there are two equal sized small black buttons. I figured out that the green button is a toggle button for lock/unlocking the car. But I can't figure out how to remotely start it. I searched on the forum, but didn't see anybody with the same one as me. I tried every combination of buttons but I can't figure it out. I'm thinking it's not programmed correctly, but I wouldn't know. Can anybody shed some light on this for me? |

I have just bought this 94 GT liftback Celica for cheap and the previous owner had dented the passenger side fender. They got a replacement, but it looks terrible, but it wasn't bad enough for me not to buy the car. Also, the front bumper (original) doesn't look properly seated. I'm thinking that they had to take the bumper off in order to put the replacement fender on, and then didn't put the bumper back correctly. Can I get new replacements from Toyota and how would I do that? I will try to post a picture of the bumper/fender tomorrow. |

daazndood, when you say swap it, what exactly are you talking about? Putting in a newer engine with less miles or something? Thank you for your responses. |

Hi, this is my first post on this forum, as well as my first car so bare with me. My first questions is about the engine. From reading this link http://www.6gc.net/information/7 I understand that I have an 5S-FE engine. But somewhere else on the forum I saw terms being used such as these (AT200, ST200, ST201...) What are these numbers and how do I find out (by looking under the hood if possible) which one mine is? I searched and found that the AT is related with the ST trim, and the ST is related to the GT trim but i couldn't find out what the numbers meant. Also, I bought this 94 GT with 117000 miles on it for 3000. The car is in perfect shape. Will this car make is past 200,000 miles most likely? And my last question is, is it worth it to put out money for upgrades on a car with 117000 miles (I plan on keeping it until it something really bad goes like trans). I'm talking about stuff like a full exhaust system. I not an idiot and I am not going to race it. I just want the experience of working on the engine as I am a car noob. I appreciate answers to any one of the questions. |
