I need a front driver's side hub and knuckle assembly for a 95-99....too many years of cheap coilovers have had a profound effect on the one in my 95. I didn't list 94 in the price range because it's not the same part according to Toyota. I may be misinformed on that, though. I contacted several (10+) auto recyclers in the Des Moines, IA area and none of them have what I'm looking for... I'll pay a fair price, we'll just have to work that out. It's going to be kinda heavy to ship, but I don't know whether it's the hub or the knuckle thats out of spec and causing my wheel bearings to go bad every 10k miles or so. |

Certain # of degrees or just guesstimate it? Will 10 degrees do? |

to do a compression test start the car and let it warm up to operating temp. Then shut it off and pull the efi fuse in the main fuse box under the hood. Then pull one spark plug at a time and screw the compression tester into the spark plug hole. now hold the throttle wide open and crank the car over a few times. Then read the pressure and write it down. Do the same for the other 3 cylinders. The BGB says it should be around 178 psi and a minimum of 142psi. you should not have a difference in psi over 10%. Example highest cyl is 178psi lowest should not be lower than 160psi. Cool, but what about a leak down test? Are there any special procedures for this? For example, with a Ford 4.6 I was working on, you had to have the cylinder at a few degrees past or before TDC before you hooked the air compressor up to it. Just FYI, earlier I checked the spark plug wires and they all look brand new, as they should since I replaced them about 12,000 miles back. Replaced spark plugs, cap and rotor at the same time. Also, I checked the antifreeze and it doesn't seem to be contaminated. Also, I don't have issues with loosing antifreeze or overheating so I don't think that this is a head gasket issue... |

You'd think that I'd notice other symptoms if the head gasket was bad? I tested the mileage on a trip to KC last time I went down there, still 28, very consistent with what I've always gotten. The car sounds and runs exactly the same below 4k. After 4k the exhaust note starts to sound different, sort of like I've got some sort of resonator. Seems more like a cam, fuel, or electrical issue. I can go ahead and do the compression test anyway, what sort of PSI should I be looking for? Should the cylinder be at TDC for the leak down test or at some other point? ETA: I just changed the oil and it looked perfect. Haven't looked at the coolant, but last I checked it was fine. |

I have a 95 Celica GT liftback, 5 spd. The car is normally rev limited at 6.2k, and you can tell when it hits the limiter because it "bounces" off. So today after driving away from work to go to lunch, I did a U turn because I forgot my wallet, as I sometimes do. And as I sometimes do, I decided to floor it, being out in the middle of nowhere. And then a strange sensation, the car just sort of stopped revving at 5k. And I noticed that the exhaust note was "funny." A little metallic sounding, whereas normally it's just grumbly. There doesn't seem to be any loss of power until you get it up to around 5k. Quick look under the hood, nothing seems off. CEL isn't on. I'm at a loss. |

Ha! I was looking for something like this a week ago, where were you man? I'm doing much the same - except my 6.5" brackets are out. Some FG magic and they're going to be sealed 8" enclosures for a pair of these: http://cdtaudio.com/sub_woofers_08.htm |

I had K-Sports on my Tercel (same as D2 just anodized with a different color) and the ride wasn't quite smooth. Granted I went from an old, worn out stock suspension to coilovers... My Celica just has Eibach lowering springs and while it rides smoother than my Tercel with coilovers, it's pretty rough riding as well. I'm considering Tein or K-Sport/D2 because the Celica's handling is not where I like it to be. Neither is the ride height. I must say, the cornering advantages will put a huge smile on your face. With wider, grippier low-pro tires, full coilovers, and Whiteline front and rear swaybars, I was taking corners where the little yellow speed advisory sign tells you to go 25 at 60+... The best ones are the banked cloverleaf-style interstate exits! |
