I had to remove the caliper replacing the front pads on mine.... but the rear swung up like Mstoochn said.
Thinking about it maybe I just didn't realise while doing the front! tongue.gif

Hey man, don't think thats a lock nut no... looks like the nut is rounded slightly, are you having trouble removing it?
It could be seized slightly.

The piston has to be pushed back before the caliper will fit back over the new pads, as soon as the caliper is removed from the disc
the piston slowly extends... use a clamp and cloth like Cuts_the_Pilot said to push it back fully and then it should fit back on the disc.

Btw be careful not to let the weight of the caliper pull on the brake line when its off! Don't just leave it sitting on something un-secured.
I usually tie it to the suspension with a bungee cord.

Rob.

Be aware that If you plan to replace the boots yourself, it requires that the driveshaft be dismantled, and so should to be done before it goes on the car!!! I only rebuilt it as a precautionary (the boots on the second hand axle I got looked a bit old) and I was doin the job myself.

If the garage is doing it for you happy days!

Also be aware that driveshafts with ABS differ from non ABS (there is a ribbed spline on the abs one which the feeds the ABS sensor)

Hey cyprus gt, the 3sge driveshafts differ to both the 2.2 and 1.8. I own a jap ss11 3sge and had to replace a driveshaft due to two ripped boots leading to contaminated c.v joints.

Judging by the mess in your picture I'd say your boot has been ripped for a long time! And that noise your heard is you c.v screaming to be replaced,

In fact I can see splines emerging here where I wouldn't expect them to be! If was you I would make sure that the c.v hasn't popped past the lock ring on the driveshaft by pulling on the shaft very firmly, if it moves out of the c.v joint at all do not drive this car! In fact I wouldn't recommend driving it anyway, because a c.v joint in as bad shape as this is dangerous. Especially considering something happened with enough force to shake the whole car!

I found it very hard to find a new driveshaft for my car (being a jap import). So i bought a decent second hand one in a scrap yard and rebuilt it, (dismantled, cleaned, repacked with new grease, new boots) and it worked out well. (cost roughly 120 euro altogether)

I would check all other C.V boots on your car as well, any sign of leaking grease, rips on the boot etc. means at least the boots need to be replaced, and possibly the joints to.

Rob.

I have lowered car and a lip.

You will scrape a bit... but as ppl said just be carefull!
I'm in the process of repairing my lip due to cracks/holes from previous owner,
waiting on paint to arrive.

So it might need a lil tlc... this is the price you pay for a good looking car!

Hi... i'm missing a rubber seal on drivers side (american drivers side) low beam.
Anyone out there have one let my know.

I'll buy just the one, or a whole set of four, whatever anyone has.
This is one of those niggling little things that annoys you,
great to get it sorted.

As I live in Ireland shiping will be a little extra, but i don't mind thumbsup.gif

well i would consider but i have a CF hood sittin in my garage so idk. Im thinking, CF hood, semi gloss roof and trunk. orange car haha

maybe i should start a poll

Maybe if you chop hood in 2... stick half of it onto roof, blend it in with fiberglass filler... use the other half on trunk,
but have a good bit sticking out to produce sort of a make shift carbon spolier "effect", problem solved, lol.

Seriously tho, carbon/semi gloss/orange does sound good... those juiced pics look good, i think you could pull it off.

poll could be an idea.

well how would i make sure it doesnt throw off the symmetry?

Basically by seeing what it looks like on a celica, which i hadn't before...
but looking at the juiced pics i'd say it would look pretty good!

What bout just the roof and trunk?

Not often you see it done... have a look in juiced nd see what it looks like.
Its always good to do something a lil different

Solid Black would look pretty good imo. Esp if theres carbon involved.

As long as doesn't throw the symmetry of the car off, and is offset well with another colour.
Thing about celica is it has quite delicate lines, so ya gotta be carefull, subtle!

Honestly, colour shifts aint my thing.. so i'd say hold back.
But of couse at the end of the day its your car, if you really like the idea go with it.

What an oxymoron huh, hold back/go with it all at the same time!

Thanks for all the welcomes people. And the manual Griffgirl, very usefull! Much appreciated.

As I said i'm trying to learn as much as I can... and well I've learned something.
My (bro who sold me this car) told me this was a bomex kit, so i presumed it was....
i had no reason not to believe him.

Well it aint! Seeing as people on here had never seen this kit before, I decided to investagte,
So I took the kit off and found this:

So its a varis kit (skirts also had stamp)

looks close to an Arising 1 kit but a slight bit different, skirts pretty much the same.

Cant find anymore info on this lip, strange!
Again, cheers for the welcomes. biggrin.gif

WOW! thats a nice car you have there, of course we don't mind a nissan man on here.
Most people on here have a bit of a taste for anything japanese i'd say.
(or anything automotive really!)

Anyhow hope your g/f gets on well with her celica.

Seems like you got a pretty cool little community going here, good to see people as obsessed with there cars as me ( I have a to do list as long as my leg! )
Got myself a clean ss11 with 60,000 miles (of my bro who imports Jap cars) six months ago, and so far I’m very pleased with it.

Have been maintaining my car myself since I got it, which is something I never did before.... I sleep with a Haynes manual under my pillow!
So trying to learn as much as I can, timing belt change coming up... hopefully all go's well.

Anyhow, here’s a pic of my baby ( I know, a bit arty farty but I just can't help myself rolleyes.gif )

Click on my profile if ya wanna see more.

hope this helps,
