If your willing to take a trek up to Santa Maria ill take an extra look for you and see what i can help you with. like stated above though it can be many things. let the motor cool then wipe the area clean, start your motor up let the oil cycle then turn it off before it gets hot (will give you a better idea of where the oil is leaking from since the area around it will be clean. I had this happen on my GT but it just turned out that when i oiled the new filter i had a small piece of a napkin stuck on my hand and it cause the seal to bind and rip off the filter a little allowing the oil to leak, didnt find it until i pulled the filter off and inspected it closer after cleaning.

Edit: pics would be nice biggrin.gif

I just replaced all of mine with new KYB products. It could be that your upper mounts even though they looked good are actually wearing out and thats the creaking that you are hearing. have you un hooked the bottom of your strut (the 2 bolts) and tried to move it back and forth/ rotate it to see if the top mount is making the sound?

ok im now on my second spindle cause the first one wore out due to an axle going out and killing the bearing causing it to shave the end of the spindle so the bearing race would not seat and stay. And now im on my second one. no axle problem, cept i spun the bearing somehow and yet again fried the inner end of the spindle so i need yet another new spindle. If anyone knows where i can get one new i would appreciate it. id prefer under 200 bucks if its just the spindle/axle hub. I have new wheel bearing and seal for it already but cant use them until i get a new spindle. Please help!

i need the one on the left. since im still stock and everything. i also have a new spare hub with lower ball joint it will be going into that my buddy bought about 2 years ago cause he just needed the spindle.

ok i was able to get under my car the other day and my passenger side boot is torn, so its looking like an axle replacement since its an all in one piece on our cars. if you are having same problem check your cv boots for cracks/ abrasions/ or splits. if it has any of these. stick a finger in and feel for grease, if its gritty then the grease needs to be replaced, if its dry no grease, or very little) then repack with grease or do an entire replacement.

Im going the entire replacement option just because my joints already making noise, i repacked it today with grease and will keep up on it until i can get the axle replaced. I'd appreciate it if someone has an approximate price that it will cost at a shop, i know you can get our axles new from some companies for about 100 bucks before taxes and shipping.

Ok, my celica just recently began to make a clicking noise when i turn left sharply, the sound is coming from the left front tire and it sounds like someone knocking on wood as i turn, if i turn slow its slow, if i turn fast its fast. But i cant hear the noise at all when im going more than 20-25 miles an hour. This is really frustrating and im thinking its my Cv joint, but i cant seem to find the part online, or our car axles... im thinking about loosing the cv boot and making sure the grease is clean and adding more if needed. Any help or ideas here would be very welcome.

Thanks,
David

X2 on the brake bleed, and also check your lines, if they are the stock rubber one could have cracked while doing the rotor swap.

I have been having a problem recently were when i go out to start my car it turns over then stumbles down and stalls out. If i give it gas its fine and holds there and then catches itself and sits at a normal idle, but only after its been held at 1k rpm for about 20secs, I had a cel but it was code 71 for the egr valve (had a crack in the vacuum line but fixed it when i replaced my brake pads this weekend) No cel anymore but the car still hesitates sometimes when the car starts. it cranks over and revs up to about 1k, then just stumbles down till it dies, (about 2 secs after starting) Im wondering if this could mean my TPS (throttle position sensor)is going out or if its something else. Because my TPS isn't throwing a cel code.

Personally i wouldnt do the wrap either because we dont know the breaking point of these headers since they are from ebay, but u can buy the heatshielding that snaps into your hood. Its got a metal backing on paper so it keeps the heat lower on your hood, ive noticed some dulling paint on the inside of my hood due to no heatshielding, but since im running the stock exhaust manifold with heat shielding its not damaging the outer paint cause its not getting hot enough.

phelps... sounds like you got a synchro going out thats going to your fourth gear.

and to the rest trying to downshift into 1st gear. First gear in this transmission is not synchronized so it will not go in unforced or unless your doubleclutch/ or are perfect on your revmatching will it go in. it is a saftey precaution so that you dont through your tranny out onto the street, or put your rods through your engine from bouncing. The gear ratio's in the 6th gen celica are really short... i believe something like 4.27.

another tidbit of information:
Synchronized gears (2-5th) in our cars help match the transmission speed and engine speed to the gear you are using, thus making it so you dont have to rev match.
Un-synchronized gears, do not have this and therefore do not help match the speed of the engine and transmission gears to each other.
