I was originally making fun of racing STICKERS on a domestic. I was originally saying that the over night mods don't warrant racing stickers. Get it? Man, trying to keep cool doesn't work... That being said, The F'n hood pins are real. They came with the hood. The scoop works. Celicas are fun, reliable cars that are fun to work on. I'm not a teenager or some 20 something kid. I'm not DILLUTED about what my Celica really is. You can do whatever you want to them. They're FWD and still Celicas. ![]() Why? You wanna loan me 30 bucks for a latch, jack-hole? |

Have you ever seen Nick Burns - Your Company's Computer Guy on SNL? Some of you fit the profile to a tee. I was pointing out domestics dolled up like something else.. I don't give a sh*t what you think of my car. If I see one more Celica with the same hood and bumper swap to make it look like a GT4, I'm going to puke. Not to mention all the other crap. So now, I'm taking the high road on you all. later. |

Haven't ever gone as far as replacing seals on the Celica... But I found an oil leak today coming from around the timing belt somewhere...I figure I'll do the belt and water pump while I'm at it...and replace all the seals while it's opened up. On my list, I have - Timing Cover Gasket Timing Cover Seal Water Pump Gasket Timing Belt Water Pump Coolant. Just replaced my thermostat and thermostat gasket so I'm good there. Do I have everything covered? This is a pretty bad leak..I gotta get it taken care of. Thanks in advance, guys. |

I hope that link that Malpaso posted doesn't become reality. That's a long shot from the Celica's history... The Celica had a rep for being ahead-of-the-curve.. and that car looks like any other car. Wouldn't even turn my head on I-75..wouldn't even notice it, actually. |

if I had a hood scoop for my stock 5SFE I don't think I'd be laughing at other "fraudulent street racers" Cool air is your friend, Hurley. It's not meant to look "modded".. It cost all of $30. To tell you the truth, I was actually looking for a clothes dryer wall vent to spray primer black and toss over my intake..but you can't find the aluminum ones around here anymore. When I throw a huge sticker on my car that says, "TURBO", you can Pistol Whip me. Yeah, taskbot, Michigan UAW workers don't seem to have a clue. They don't realize that in Ohio and Kentucky, All the Japanese Auto Plants are UAW..so is it unpatriotic to drive a Ford or Chevy there? It's nuts. My old CRX used to get kicked way back in the day. They never seem to stop blaming other people for their mediocre everything.. |

That Teg is sweet. One of my in-laws has one. I never drove one until last summer. They drive really similar to the Del Sol I had. Nice cars. |

a guy around here has a geo metro with a honda K-series motor in it. supposedly dangerous on the track but ppl still call him a ricer. the moral of the story is: one mans beast is another mans rice.... naaaa nvm that didnt work Oh dude, around here (Detroit), they absolutely hate anything that isn't part of the Big Three. I think one reason they attack Japanese cars is because it's embarrasing for them when they get beat by one. Anything Japanese is called a "rice burner" around here. I see 30 bumper stickers a day that say, "Out Of A Job Yet? Keep Buying Foreign".. That's no exaggeration. At least 30. I named my car Spitrod because people hate her...and because she's actually been spit on around here before. Nice, eh? |

Tell you what, I'm going to waste my money on them, put them in for two weeks and decide if there's any difference from my NGKs. I'll sell them on the site for $1 when I'm done. -Test Monkey |

There's no "ceiling" to the spark. There's an open hole for the plug to fire straight down. A diamond shaped electrode instead of the conventional type. So supposedly, it's creating a bigger "bang for yer buck"... |

I've been noticing a lot of people on here have recent front end damage. Even though it seems overwhelming, don't get rid of your car! You can fix it without paying someone else to do it. It's waaaay cheaper and you learn a lot. Years ago, I sold my old Celica to a guy who proceeded to demolish it. After he was done destroying the car, I got it back. I had never done any body work before and it seemed like too much for me to take on. But I started searching for the parts and did it myself. Here's a before and after - ![]() After - ![]() Not one other human soul touched it. I did every bit of work on her..and I had never done this kind of work before in my life. I could have sent her to a junkyard..but now someone else is driving and enjoying her. So before you decide to throw in the towel, give it a try. You learn alot about your car along the way...and you also walk away with a sense of pride after you did it. |

I know what you mean. When you take care of a care, it's like you're nursing it back to life. You can feel it start to run and drive better. It warms up to you like a dog. Hah. Yeah, I was curious because of the design and the way they fire. I think I'm going to go ahead and try them out. The worst that can happen is I end up putting my NGKs back in. No big deal... How much did you pay for them?? |

These plugs seem good in theory... but do they really work? Has anyone tried them in our cars? Good? Bad? I'm thinking about getting a set..if no one here has yet, I guess I'll be the test monkey. |

Hey Dude, The hardest part is working up the nerve to take a handsaw to your hood. After that, there's no turning back. Be careful when cutting the hole. You want to make sure you don't cut beyond where the scoop is going to sit. I laid tape on my hood in an outline of the scoop. Cover up your engine with a tarp so the sparks from the saw don't melt anything. They will if you don't. I promise. Oh, and make sure you measure your hood to make it dead center. Before mine, I had never seen a Celica with an aftermarket hood scoop. I bought a universal and shaved and hacked for full functionality. I made a plug for mine for when it rains. It just plugs up the hole. Super easy. Doesn't look fantastic...but it works. If you have any other questions, by all means - shoot. I've done about 5 of them in the last year. Check out my profile photos and my CarDomain. I've got newer and better photos of mine. |

I've heard that...but I've personally never liked white on 99.9% of cars. I like white Celicas if the trim is done right to create contrast. The white was real rough, though. Lots of surface rust. Needed to be painted anyway. It's a nice break from all the internal work I do to the Celi. You gettin' a wheelie bar for that thing? |

See? That's what I'm talking about, D-Man... I respect a beater looking car with balls...awesome. When I used to drive my CRX HF, I didn't dare put performance stickers on it because she was straight stock. |

I went to a junkyard / auto parts place about a year ago. They didn't have any fenders..but the dude looked them up, ordered me one new and had it shipped there the next day. I paid $129 and didn't have to pay any shipping. Try it if you have somewhere local like that. |

Anyone else have other projects going? When I'm not working on the Celica, I'm working on an 89 Nissan Sentra Sport Coupe. Picked her up for $500. She runs like new but needs some help in the power department. I decided to work on the exterior first because I didn't like the way she looked in white. Here's my progress so far - How I bought her - ![]() After a coat of black - ![]() Present day - ![]() My next steps are to build a decent hood scoop, do all the usuals to the engine, upgrade the suspension (it sucks), get bigger wheels and wider tires and work on the interior to get rid of the horrible "table cloth" looking design they used on the seats, doors and various areas. got any photos of your projects? |

I remember one time after a harsh night out (pretty trashed) this guy rolled up to the pizza joint we were at in a friggin alero (or whatever the grand am-esque car is) with like NOS, GReddy, HKS etc etc stickers EVERYWHERE on his car... I cant remember the last time i almost fell over from pointing and laughing so hard... The owner didnt think it was nearly as funny though :\ That's awesome. Pretense. I would have spit pepperoni out of my nose. |

I think D-Man and I need a 7-11 to hang out in front of. I understand the rodded geo and all that...my thing is that I saw this car the day before and it was completely "stock".. Meaning - he tossed the muffler and the racing stickers on over night. I doubt he had time to turbo it or do any real mods for that matter. Personally, I just couldn't drive around with such pretentiousness. Again, I think it's insulting to the people who actually work on their cars regularly. We could have bought a bunch of stickers and called it a day too. As far as the budget issue goes - I have an eight month old boy and my celi is my DD. I'm on a serious budget...so if my car was stock, there's no way I'd stick a huge "K&N" sticker on my back window. I'd save my quarters. The money spent on wheel paint, hotrod stickers and a cheap exhaust could have covered an intake. That's a start, right? |

Right on. Thanks. I put the fender on just before winter last year. It was brand new..just primer. I tossed some black gloss paint on it to protect it through the winter. It looks okay. You really don't notice until you get up close. But it's just enough to bug the hell out of me. |

Okay. It's late. 2:30 am.. I just went to the gas station for a pack of smokes. When I was getting out of my car, I hear what sounded like an import pulling into the parking lot. I look and see this local hillbilly dude in his Ford Contour. He threw on some performance, honda-esque muffler, took the hubcaps off his wheels, sprayed them black, and put some racing stickers in his rear windows. I'm anything but a "car bully"...but are these people for real? I would feel like the biggest ass driving around in a fraudulent "street racer"... The only thing he was missing was the cardboard body kit. I seriously laughed out loud in the parking lot. It's insulting to those of us who spend every day under our hoods and in our cars. |
