I'm thinking of selling my good ol' Celica. It's been a great car, but I now need something bigger. It's a white '97 GT hatchback (pics in my profile), automatic trans., 167k miles, overall good condition. A few issues, but only a few: will probably need a brake job before too long, dent in passenger side caused by my own stupidity trying to park too close to fence in my backyard ![]() Good issues: new timing belt, new radiator, regular maintenance, oil changes etc. doesn't burn or leak any oil at all, runs great. I put two new tires on the rear a few weeks ago after a blowout on the freeway. Front two still have life left in them. Interior in great condition, cloth, power windows, locks, cruise, great AM/FM CD cassette stereo (it's a Clarion aftermarket but sounds great) I haven't advertised this yet at all, thought I'd try this forum first, make me an offer! I'm in Fort Worth. Thanks, brad4804@hotmail.com http://www.6gc.net/members/brad4804 |

I'm having some trouble with the auto transmission in my '97 Celica GT, which by the way has been a great car for the three years I've owned it. The car has about 155,000 miles on it and runs great. However in cold weather the transmission won't shift into the highest gear (OD) until after the car has warmed up for a while. I've not had this problem in warm weather. I can get in, start the car, and pretty much just go. I'll get on the highway, and once I get up to about 40 or so (I haven't paid enough attention to the exact speed) it shifts into high gear. In cold weather no such luck. I have to start it, and knowing about the shifting problem, I let it run for 5 or so minutes in the driveway before I go on. If I were to just start it and go, it won't shift into high gear once I get on the highway. Has to warm up first. Any thoughts?? Thanks, Brad O'Brien Fort Worth, TX 1997 Celica GT |
