i found that the wires are soldered somehow according to the discussion below. oh it's gonna be a tough job... i need to know where the wires should be attached on.

i replaced the transmission shifter slide cover as it was broken(shown in the first pic above). after removing the knob just like the 2nd pic above(unscrewed 2 bolts on the knob and pulled it off upwards), i found 2 wires detached from the o/d button(obviously i didn't think of the connection before removal frown.gif ). i successfully replaced the broken cover with new one, but i still don't know how to connect the 2 wires to the o/d button assembly.
it is not crucial part for my daily driving, but i want to restore it to original condition.
could someone shed some light on this? thank you for any tips in advance!!

thanks for the good link. i have no clue about how to detach the top plate on which gear indicator is marked. is it even possible to remove the cover without unbolting the whole assembly?
the top plate should be removed to reach the broken part and replace it.

thanks a lot for quick response. oh it would be tough job then.
if i could get hold of one, how can i replace it? just unbolt, detach and reattach things?

QUOTE (Box @ Mar 4, 2018 - 2:28 AM) *
Unless there's someone with new old stock that wasn't thrown away, your only place to get a replacement will be from a parts car. Maybe could use the same piece from another car of the era, or make one out of a sheet of thin black plastic. Odds are the same piece was used on any automatic Toyota of the time with a 4-speed automatic.

You can use this as a reference to dismantling it. lots of pics n different angles.

thanks. maybe gas lid discrepancy stems from model type, not production year?

does anyone know the part number of rear fender(driver side, the one with gas lid)?
i'm looking for a new part, but have no clue what part number it is. i googled it but found only one for 7th gen like below.

so i did some digging i came up with a part number for the liftback built after january of 96 the number is 61602-2d918 but it is obsolete which i completely expected now thats not too say that maybe some dealer somewhere has it in stock but id say you want to look in the aftermarket somewheres also the list price on it was 1770 dollars canadian so i hope you have deep pockets

i hear sharp squeaking noise when turning right especially in the cold morning. after the engine heats up, i don't hear the disturbing sound any more. a friend of mine told me that power steering belt & idler pulley might be the culprit. it seems there are 2 other belts near the power steering belt and i want to change all 3 belts this time. i appreciate if anyone could help me find the product numbers(i found an image below, where #3 is power steering belt. what's other belts' names and product numbers?). thanks in advance. smile.gif

i've gone through a similar problem with yours. a possible culprit is a broken worm gear inside the motor box.
read through this link and see if that helps. in my case, the worm gear was broken, out of place and i had to use superglue to fix it. you might need a magnifier to see crack lines on the worm gear if it is broken.

Hey guys, I just bought a 6G Celica, it has power folding mirrors, i push the button, motors make a load of noise, but there is no movement in the mirrors.

What are the likely suspects?

I am not with the car for a few more hours so dont have it in front of me, just wanted to arm myself before i take it apart!

Thanks

hood grill may make it even better, i think.

yeah, that's the reason i plan to install a separate switch. i don't think mine is illegal because it has nothing whatsoever to do with headlights, but there might be a slight chance to get interrupted by a cop. can i see yours?

QUOTE (malpaso @ Oct 21, 2016 - 11:41 AM) *
I have this installed about five years now . White color switching on with headlights. Was thinking about red color but it's lets say on the edge (in terms of road legality) here.

here it is

(just detail picture... I have not any with whole car). Anyway. Running it like this many years now (from 2011) and no issues at all.

i installed your clear stop lens today.
parts used were: Wolfie308's clear stop lens and Tigawoods' hight mount LED lighting.
Tigawoods' LED is white, so i had to paint the LED bulbs with clear red enamel paint. the white lighting was so bright, i had to apply 3 coats to make the light red enough.
i also painted the LED circuit board with BLACK(shown in the pic is white, but i changed the color to black. i don't recommend white since it is so prominent).
if the clear lens had been purely transparent, it would have been much harder to make it look clean because everyone can see the units inside.
