I'm currently in the preparation for my st246 3sgte swap (wiring and ecu immobilizer will be done at wiregap).. wondering the deal with 3sgte swaps and getting the gauges/tacho to work and is it the same process over the different 3sgte generations?

From the little information I've found you can either go with a msd8920 tach adapter on the oem St204 gauges or do a resistor mod...

Somehow I can't find any write up or any information of how to do either of these? Confusing as it's such a damn common conversion and I can't find anything on the two methods and how difficult they are?

Thanks

Sorry to revive old thread,

From going through I lot of research and found wheels that actually have offsets I'm looking for I think these wheels will work extremely nicely but just want to get a second opinion(I'm only about 1"lower than stock) .

For front wheels pair of 18x8.5" with et +30 offset

For rear wheels pair 18x8.5" with et +15 offset (possibly put a 3-5mm little spacer if the for some reason I turn out not happy with the fitment but should be fine)

If im correct these should be close enough to flush for my liking and avoiding a sunken look and no scrubbing?

QUOTE (richee3 @ Jan 17, 2018 - 7:16 AM) *
The engine and head are the same that you’ll find in a Celica but the coolant lines are different, alternator needs to be relocated, power steering pump needs to be added, harness will need to be replaced with a Celica harness or modified to work in a Celica which is no small feat, and I’m sure I’m forgetting a couple of things. None of the changes are a big deal if you have a 3S-GE from a Celica sitting next to your MR2 3S-GE, otherwise you’re in for a pretty big headache for not that much power.

Cheers very good to know, well that makes the decision easy since finding a cheap blown celica 3sge here would be very uncommon its definitely not worth getting parts individually would be a headache eitherway.

I'm better off doing it the right way and finding a good st202 beams halfcut for the real deal and being happier with the finished product

Thanks for your reply but it's just a regular n/a non vvti 3sge off an mr2 that has Forged pistons, rods, valves, oversized rings, piston rebore, ported head, head shaved, new gasket kit and 12000 ks on the engine since rebuild.

Yeah it would be simpler than an mr2 3sgte, the harness would need to be extended which would be a pain that i would struggle extremely hard with. unless i had some sort of a guide on the wiring harness for wiring everything to be working normally or call in an auto electrician to do the wiring for me(much higher cost).

I was more curious as to what needs to be done to get this engine running, id assume an s54 tranny would work fine and the engine itself has no problems fitting as easy as an 5sfe with the steering rack and all?
For exhaust id plan on finding some st202 non vvti headers and get the exhaust custom made?
For the speedo wiring/gauges i would have no idea how that would work with an mr2 3sge?

Would be great to find out if this is doable for me

Recently have access to buying a very cheap forged and rebuild gen 3 3sge that came out of an sw20 mr2. Even with this putting out 165kw in still skeptical if this project would be worth it with the complications compared to a redtop beams. Does anyone know all the required process and wiring procedures to complete this swap into an st204?

Couldn't find any threads online and I'm just worried that problem solving on a swap like this is out of my skillset without help and spending the extra on importing a beams would be worthwhile to avoid the stress. Thanks

Unable to get the car to crank over to a start after completing the swap
I'll try give some infomation as to what the situation is,

The donor engine was from a 1998 st204 in perfect working condition (130ks) put into a 1995 st204 i have purchased
with a completely seized motor from driving at extreme heat after burst radiator.
Both engine bays/ecu's etcs are almost identical not much i can tell is different from the manufacturing years.

After the swap was complete the starter just continuously cranks, I have ALMOST got the engine to turn over a few time previously
by spraying a lot of aerostart while giving it some slight throttle acceleration but to no avail. kindasad.gif

since last night i have tried a few things;

-checking all fuses
-making sure all accessible plugs are not loose
-tried using the 1998 ecu (cranks the same, appears identical)
-putting axles back on and topping up tranny oil
-checked grounds
-topping up fuel

Everything appears to be installed as its suppose to be as i have checked for anything loose
multiple times and compared engine bays.

I've already run out of ideas as i am new to this and hoping others with more experience could
give me some advise how to troubleshoot and diagnose what the problems is.

Seems to be something very minor but i just cant think as to what the problem could be.

cheers in advance for any advice smile.gif

Nice trd strut brace!
Thoughts on the strut brace? have you noticed fairly noticeable increase in handling at high speeds?

want to know your personal opinion and hopefully not just placebo reaction haha. thanks

So i have damaged my Front Left fender and im planning on removing it and seeing what i can do about the damage when i get some free time.
I cant seem to find anything online about 6gc fenders and how they are removed, does the front bumper need to be removed first? where to start? etc
Would save me a lot of time thanks,

Hey im new to 6gc, looking to buy rear splitters/spats would be preferred if i could find a genuine set, if any high quality replicas available might also be interested.

If you know anyone selling a pair would be greatly appreciated if you could point me in their direction<

QUOTE (BonzaiCelica @ Aug 22, 2016 - 9:56 AM) *
just got a tom's lip with no cracks at all and all tabs in tact except for one.

i called vis and they said i needed 19 members in order for them to replicate them.

perhaps if i call VIS or AIT we can get them to do 15. as it will be easier to get members. but is anyone interested. this will be my last attempt.

i checked ebay, the seller makes many kits like funked and used to have the replicated tom's lip on there but don't see it anymore...

I Would be extremely interested in buying a lip, although im from Australia so shipping might be issue
