I wouldn't mind buying this, however I don't want RHD. Does anyone know if there are any others for sale amongst the members here? In November, I am going to have a nice amount of money to either track down a GT-Four that is converted already to buy that is LHD, still registered as a GT, or dump this in my MR2. I was forced to sell my Celica, so all I have is my MR2 in the garage right now (Just the widebody). I was going to make a post, but I will wait til I have the money first. I was just wondering if any of you know of anything.

I had a guy who was going to buy mine from Colorado, who said he had one converted already, but I lost his number. He had issues getting it registered there, but I have that situation taken care of here in California. I just don't want RHD.

Not really. Kinda hard to finda decent job out here. Haven't really looked into djing at the clubs here, although my gf has friends who do a good living off of it. One guy bought a house and that's all he is does is play gigs.

Was driving a red coupe with black or gunmetal rims with a chrome lip. I seen your sticker on your driver side rear window. Was on Commerce and Cheyenne near the Chevron.

Thanks. Well I am not looking for anything fancy, although a excellent price for the GT4 hood... Money is kinda the issue at the moment. That's why I am willing to change my front end back to stock if need be vs the cost of a GT4 hood. I would prefer to find someone who can repair it, but I dunno if that is even possible, it's bent up kinda bad like a U shape.

GT4 Hood (or stock hood and bumper)

Hood Hinges

Hood Latch (That works really frigging good!)

and Sunroof (The glass on mine busted thanks to my latch failing and GT4 hood can hit hard at 85mph on the freeway :-/)

If I don't respond right away, please email me @ Bakersfield_Filipino@yahoo.com or hell, even text me 661-343-7677.

Thanks,

if you disconnected the wires to the alternator and the light went out than it has to be the alternator. the wires leaking would have kept the light on. It has to be the alternator. clean the connectors up with some sandpaper and use (dio-electic compound) when re-installing to prevent corrosion "that green stuff". you can get this at any auto zone or car parts store they sell it for installing light bulbs.

Hope this helps.

Ok thanks. I just never heard of an alternator robbing the battery of voltage before. I heard about autozone alternators doing that from other forums and what others posted when I did a search, I just wanted to verify from others, since it was something I wasn't aware of.

Ok So after disconnecting the obvious, the car alarm, I find it still draining. I noticed with car running on this "New" alternator, it bumps up to 17v which is not normal right? Ok so I after reading that sometimes a bad alternator can drain batteries, even if they do recharge the battery when the car is running, I decided to try that out.

I disconnected the alternator with the car off while I was watching the battery being drained. Wouldn't you know it? The drainage stopped after unplugging the wire that connected to the top of the alternator when installed, secured by a nut.

So here's my new question. Could it be the wire or is it the alternator itself? I noticed the wire is getting that green rust on it, but I dunno where it all goes to in order to remove the whole thing to clean it. Any suggestions? Could it be in fact the alternator? Even if it is the wire, I wouldn't know how to go about getting a new one other than just cleaning it, but that would require me to break off all that plastic coating from around the wire to get to everything. But even if that has rust, would that drain my battery from the alternator?

All my batteries keep dieing at my house lol...So I have bought about 5 batteries this year so It kinda seems like it...maybe it does take 2-3 years...

batteries last longer if you keep em inside the car...thats the reason those mercedes batteries last so long the ones under the seat...

Yeah I know, I was told Optima batteries could only benefit from being used daily, which I do use it like that. But something is seriously draining my battery. I did some research and most people have their optima batteries for 5-8 years (and at this reported time, still going strong), even in multiple vehicles. I was hoping maybe it's just the battery and they would warranty it before it runs out, but they keep insisting on just recharging it.

I am convinced now something is draining it, as it was too low to start and the next day lost a whole 2.xx volts. I was just wondering what it could possibly be in the first obvious things to check, such as car alarm and how to check if it is in fact the car alarm that is drawing current.

I'd change my battery every year...maybe a lil more with an optima...

That's not too excessive?

Ok so I have this issue where my car battery is suddenly being drained by something. I was just wondering what first things to look at. Also what I find strange is that it didn't want to start last night (I witnessed a hit and run across the street, thought the guy was gonna stop but when he took off, I was going to jump in my car and get his license plate number, but my car didn't start). So I busted out the voltmeter and seen it was like at 9.38v. I set my alarm and went inside and later that night, I hear my alarm chirping in a way I never heard before. Then it got louder, and louder and then just went off making it's normal sound if someone attempted to break in. So I go out there and disarm it. Noticed my lights were dim and checked the reading again. It was 7.38v. I left the voltmeter connected to it and sat in the car wondering what it could be. I went back and noticed it climbed up a bit to 7.44v. I let it sit there and watched and it climbed up to 7.48v before I just disconnected it.

Is that normal for a voltmeter to do that? You think it might be my car alarm? I have an optima battery which is like 3 years old. Not sure what the life expectancy is on those or if maybe it is in fact something draining power.

#9 is the return low pressure hose. its the easiest to replace.

I bought the large PS hose at autozone for 6 dollars(3ft) and cut it to legth and snugged it over to the side with tie wraps. Just a tip make sure it is PS hose because the hose I put on the 1st time was bleeding PS fluid through it . PS hose seems to be coated with a hard rubber or something. You can see my engine pick of what I mean.

Thanks. Any chance you know how to bleed this thing? The information I found says it has a bleeder valve, but I don't see it. My book on the car doesn't show it either. :-(

It looks like it's No.9, which is just a hose I gotta replace, which I guess any will do, seeing as it isn't a major specific hose (by ordering or parts check for OEM replacements through Toyota or anything). Looks to be simple enough to find at any place that sells generic hoses.

So the question is this. In the book, it only shoes from the pump and before I even get to under the car and make a mess, I want to have the hose ready first. So from the power steering fluid reservoir, which hose is the one that connects to the reservoir above the other one? There is one that goes straight down from the reservoir tank, and there is another that connects from the side above the other one. My guess it is the return hose, considering no hard lines are visible, while the one from the bottom connects to hard lines that are visible. I just wanted to ask someone who has experience with this on these model specific cars.

EDIT: Ok I replaced the hose, I just need to know how to properly bleed the air out. It mentions a bleeder valve but I don't see it.

EDIT: No.2 Nvm there isn't one on our cars and I did find it in the book how to bleed.

Well they are charging it at the shop, but still though. I heard the clicking of the solenoid once trying to start it. Then nothing. Just this hum sound as the car tried to start. Well at first it was like the engine was trying to turn. But now nothing. Had power, windows, sound system, all that worked. I guess the battery could be low, and my negative terminal could be replaced... Which I am going to do once the battery charges (picking it up tomorrow, if it charges, it is still under warranty). Then when I install it, I am going to run a test on it with the alternator, which is I guess checking the volts with it running, and then with a load applied. Right?

10.3v is a DEAD battery. like a completely shorted cell.

a fully charged lead acid battery should be 12.6v.

11.7v is a 10% charge.

try cleaning up the terminals first, just in case

Oh ok, I thought it was anything under 9.29v. I guess I will see what's up with this warranty then. Thanks man.

I have to put my hood issue on hold at the moment, as funds are very very limited right now. I have greater issues... Ok, the car has power, but as I was about to drive it last night (and it started fine) i noticed that one of my headlights was working. The other flickered once, or would not come on, while one worked fine, until I flicked on the foglights, and then it would flicker. I parked the car, and now it won't start. There is no clicking noise at all, and the battery with the multimeter showed 10.29 on a red optima. There seems to be no dimming of lights, and I am wondering if it might be the starter.

I would check your local junk yard for a set. That's where I found mine for around $20 for the pair.

I know but these cars are never in our junkyards.

clean it up with PB Blaster, then put some kinda oil/grease on iit. see if that helps

I did that. I managed to get it locked in but by force. I noticed though, that my hood hinges are bent as the hood won't align right ever since it popped all the way up. So I think I am going to need some new ones too.

Ok, hoping someone can help me. I never had an issue with my hood not latching before. I drive off from the store going about 40mph when all of a sudden my hood popped up and was standing full up on my windshield. I try to close it, it won't lock. I drive slow and bring it home. Noticed it wasn't really aligning before (I dunno if GT-Four hoods go further than regular but it appears that way where they latch). So I extended the latch. It still won't lock. I got screw drivers and pushed the lock down all the way til it locked. With great force eventually it did, but just won't do it with the hood.

Anyone ever have this issue with GT-Four hood? And If it is the latch, does anyone have one they wanna get rid of?
