after a long (in my eyes) hiatus from June 2012, finally back on the road
![]() So here is the story of my celica. so i dont get to ramble on too much, lets start out with the first picture i took of my car back in 2006 when I got her. ![]() the first mod that i did was my JL speakers all around. nothing special. i wasnt too much into the whole 6gc scene until a little bit after. i then stripped the hub caps and started putting every sticker i found on that car! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() then i had finally gotten into the 6gc scene and started to mod her. first things first, a $70 weapon r intake from a fellow member. needless to say i felt badass installing it seeing as how it was my first mod. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdQKHBZH2yg...re=channel_page ![]() after that came exhaust, a nice n\' rare SP1 ![]() ![]() THEN TRAGEDY STRUCK! i had thrown a rod and my car was up for about 3months, saddest moment ever! ![]() after all was said and done, i got a new rebuilt block. ![]() the day it was back on the road ![]() this is the first pic i took with my new camera ![]() Then after not having it for a while i wanted to get her gifts, thus leading us into the... BAD IDEA PHASE ![]() ![]() ![]() end phase then i put on my XS auto headers the NIGHT before i was leaving for my freshman year of college. ended up rushing and cutting to hastily and had a bad exhaust leak. and a lil bit after put heat wrap on the rad tubes also i got one of the limited DCR 3points ![]() ![]() then after a month or so, my engine quit on me while cruising around pittsburgh. had to tow it back home to the shop the block was built at in philly. ended up being a bad head gasket. then i just started buying stuff while at school and putting it in SPENDING PHASE installing hid\'s in february ![]() ![]() ![]() most up to date interior shot at night ![]() ![]() most up to date engine shot ![]() Got some bars ![]() STEELIES PAINTED yellow jdm fogs ![]() jdm tails ![]() yellow highs ![]() MATURING PHASE well i took off all the stickers haha ![]() got new rubbers ![]() a big shipment ![]() auto-x came into my life http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s66yhF5jtVk ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() then she sat for a while, not being modded, she was content ![]() THE SCREW YOU GUYS MY CAR IS FINALLY LOWERED PHASE this is how she sits as of now ![]() ![]() props to art for getting me into this scene the end.....? a side note, the Supra TT brake setup is WAY heavier than the ST205, the caliper share brake components and internals but the ST205 calipers are made out of alluminum, the supra TT caliper is cast iron, I almost cried when I picked mine up ( currently installing them on my lexus IS )
Each Supra TT caliper is almost 30 lbs after pads. -------------------- ![]() |

Although its advised not to be done. It was nessecary to split the calipers to remove all the seals so I could get them powder coated. I have been digging around for some info on the size and material of the original o-rings. And I have found that they are dash -109 sized. An appropriate compound for a replacement ( since toyota doesnt have a P/N for them nor does any other resource I have looked into) which would hold up to the temperatures and be resistant to brake fluid is Viton ETP. I have contacted a couple places on quotes for a square ring and hope to hear back. Im not sure if there is a minumum order, but if this all works out, it would be nice to have a place to grab these for people who want to rebuild their ST205 calipers and not re-use the halve seals http://www.marcorubber.com/square_rings.htm thank fate for bringing this to my attention. I should be posting my findings for future generations!! Can Lithia order the caliper rebuild kit for the ST205 calipers? I think the kits are only like $25 per caliper for the GT calipers, and it would be great if they could order the kits for the ST205 calipers. The frozen clearcoat finish looks great, but I'd stick to a regular clearcoat so it can be buffed if it ever gets scratched. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. the rebuilt kit doesnt include the o rings he's looking for, it's been a known issue with toyota 4 piston calipers, people have to source their o rings elsewhere as toyota does not provide them.

I had a thread from the supra forums of someone else's trial and error with the o-rings, but have since lost it. -------------------- |

Well I am not surprised by the response but since they dont stock that size and it would need to be custom cut,the minimum order would be $100 which would yield around 100 pieces

Here is an email I got back from a manufacturer in NJ
QUOTE Thank you for your inquiry. 9 pcs - O-ring AS568-109 , #7265D Viton-ETP - $27.76 each Delivery 2 weeks; Ex-works; We accept Visa, MasterCard, Amex. You would be required to perform any cuts or modification to the o-ring as suggested in your inquiry. I believe from the last part, he is saying that it would be a regular o-ring and if I wanted a stright cut ring, id need to cut it myself This post has been edited by Tigawoods: Feb 5, 2013 - 11:10 AM -------------------- ![]() 1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situation エキサイティングカーレーシングチーム! march 2010 COTM : 6GC feature 2014 : january 2015-2016-2018 COTM |

Doing some more research I found out that people are using regular tubular o-rings instead of cross sectioned o-rings as replacements, (probably because they are cheaper and more readily available)
Tubular o-rings could work, and probably have, but they probably dont cover the surface area in the gasket channel as well as the cross sectioned rings do. And Id rather not take that risk. here is another info thread http://my.is/forums/f89/fyi-supra-bbk-brak...-orings-387452/ I can get quoted for cross sectioned gaskets, but I need the dimensions of the original ones, which are not with me. I had read measurements on a thread on another forum somewhere but I cant find it anymore Also FYI: 99 Porsche Carerra Calipers can be modded to fit our cars GAH! Update!! Found it!!! outside diameter: 12.50mm inside diameter: 8.75mm thickness: 1.95mm source: http://www.alltrac.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=37350 I assume since these measurements where of a used gasket, that the thickness measurement should be increased slightly These measurements given are actually proof of the wear from compression of the gasket. The numbers dont add up: 8.75 + 1.95 +1.95 = 12.65 All of this, assuming the gaskets where originally squared. With the above measurements, the thickness for the face part of the 0-ring would be 1.875 I dont think it really matters what that thickness is (for the most part). All it would be doing is changing the inner diameter which is already substantially larger than the fluid opening, and even after compression I can imagine it still would leave a large enough hole for the fluid to pass through. dropped the car off at the fab shop on Monday for exhaust.
Unfortunately they wont be able to START until 2 weeks from now. The calipers are also done the PC, and I will be able to pick them up next weekend, and reassemble them. crack at the end of the tension pulley bolt hole.

update on the caliper gaskets.
What a wonderful surprise when I purchased new seal kits for all four from Rock Auto, and found these! They just came in the kits for the fronts, but I emailed Centric (the manufacturer of the kit) to see if they can send me 4 for for the rears The repair kit is made by Centric and the part # for it is 143.44031 (this is 1 front caliper)

awesome news for you! good stuff, hopefully they'll sell ya the o-rings on their own Havent gotten a response from them yet, might just re-use the old ones for the rear. Im also going to measure the old ones and compare them to the measurement of the new ones to see if there was a drastic change in size. Still waiting your visit to Hawaii, oh the abundance of parts you can take home I hate so much of you. -------------------- ![]() 1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situation エキサイティングカーレーシングチーム! march 2010 COTM : 6GC feature 2014 : january 2015-2016-2018 COTM |

update on the seals for the ST205 calipers. after talking with centric and back with rock auto, Since these kits are rarely ordered, Centric didnt feel like looking into why the rear kits arent including the crossover seals. So they offered a solution.
Order the sets for the front which include the crossover seals, order the axle set for the rear, and then order 2 more sets of front seal packages and use their crossover seals for the rears and just have spare front cylinder/boot seals -------------------- ![]() 1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situation エキサイティングカーレーシングチーム! march 2010 COTM : 6GC feature 2014 : january 2015-2016-2018 COTM |
