So I already checked the dizzy (but if worse comes to worse I can try a new one for free), and I had a spare set of wires and plugs I tested with. I checked the cap and rotor both of which are perfect.

I don't know of any way to check the igniter but I'm thinking it could possibly be that so I might go to the junkyard and pull one to test with.

I've also heard the MAF, low oil pressure, TPS, and the knock sensor can keep it from sparking also. But I believe these would also cut fuel too? Which I'm getting plenty of...haha.

Anything else I should check? I need to see if its throwing any codes but I didn't have any time today to check.

How do you know you have no spark? If its not the igniter, coil, wires, plug, dizzy and have no spark you have a wiring problem or your ECU is cooked.

Keep in mind you when checking spark you need to ground the plug. So have someone try and start the car, pull a plug with a wire on it and make sure you touch the engine block or something that is grounded to the bolt area on the plug.

On the first day when it wouldn't crank, before I loaded it up on the trailer I took the spark plug out with the wire tried sparking it (I always ground it on the support that comes off the block that the throttle cable rides on, its a great ground and in the perfect spot), no joy. Replaced the wire and plug with spares, same.

So we took off the cap, rotor, and shroud on the dizzy and measured the leads (at the coil) for voltage while cranking, nothing. Tried at the plug and same. So we put all that back together and took a look at the igniter, it has 12v going in, but nothing out. So I'm looking for a junk one to see if that's the issue. If not I'll look into the harness and the ecu (which I highly doubt its either, but it happens).

If the engine wouldn't crank how did you check for spark? The engine has to be spinning to check spark.

laugh.gif It turns over but it doesn't theres no combustion (thats what I mean by crank, as in "doesn't crank up" or start). And theirs no combustion cause theres no spark.

Anyways, I replaced the igniter still no joy. I took my dizzy in to get a new one for ****s and giggles since its free so its worth the shot but I'm having an issue claiming my warranty cause they say it cant be a reman since it says Toyota and Denso on it. So hopefully I'll get that straightened out tmrw and then go from there.

The whole point of remanufacturing is to use the original parts and just replace the wear items -- if it didn't say Toyota, Denso or Aisin then it wouldn't be a reman, it'd be a knockoff.

They blot out the Toyota markings on the front cover, and take of the Denso marked plug. But that is very true. Either way the manager took it, he didn't care. Haha.
