Seriously tho, black mirrors.

Any particular reason you guys feel black mirrors would be a good choice? I like contrast but I don't see it being a good look on the car.

It's just a personal taste. I've said it before, but for me it doesn't distract the eye from the lines of the car.
Ask to be done in photoshop, if you are not sure about it, there is a thread.

A dark gray, paint the wheels to match. Same color on the plate bezel. Corvette GS-type stripe on the DS fender.

So, I finally gave the Soul back and picked up my love today.

Good news:

Yay!

Bad news:

Apparently, the body shop felt the bumper paint job would look better if they washed the car...unfortunately, they decided to do it with a pressure washer and as a result ruined the mirrors.

Better news:

The body shop is going to rectify their mistake by completely repainting and clear coating the mirrors at no charge to me. I have to drop the car off Monday night for the work to be done Tuesday and that means driving the wife's car until mine is ready again on Wednesday.

So, from a single, simple accident I'm going to wind up with the mirrors and rear bumper looking showroom fresh with a lifetime warranty on the paint/clear coat; all in all, not a bad trade I'd say. Fun.

Woo, rear end looks great smile.gif Mirrors not so much, but free paint... can't complain!

I would DEFINATELY stay red though, your car is so sleek and clean, I think the black mirrors would ruin it.

And random question for everybody.... how much do you pay for insurance? I want to get a car to do some weekend road-tripping when I'm over there but I just did an online quote and got $2k for a fairly basic policy for 6 months! (I do want a mustang though...) And parking with the accommodation on campus is already $100 per month.

That's ridiculous. I paid only $44 for the second-largest university (according to student body) per semester, and I was pissed about that. So much so that I started parking in the far garage for free and walked just to avoid the fee. I'd be cycling to class if I were you.

I've thought about it, that and doing like what The_enD has done with his. Though bright red/black is much more stirring visually than white/black. Sure it'd look nice, but to me the bright red/black evokes the car's sporty looks even more. Which is fine and dandy if you've swapped the car and can back up the visual attitude. Otherwise you're just making things worse than what they already are in regards to looking faster than what you are.

Yeah... But if I don't park on campus (where I'm living) then I have no car at all for the full 5 months I'm over there, and going and exploring and road tripping without a car isn't much fun tongue.gif I found one of the further away parking structures on the other side of the campus has parking for like $317 a semester or something like that. The I-House international college has $200/semester parking for residents which would be great, but I don't want to live there, lol tongue.gif

How about insurance though? Here I pay $350 per year for property damage insurance to cover the other persons property in the event of a crash, and another $300 ish per year for medical indemnity for the other driver if I'm at fault of a serious crash (that is now lumped in with our registration fees).

For my Celica, it was $420 USD annually for full coverage. It's insured under Brigette's name now so I'm not sure what it is anymore. I've got two speeding tickets on my record now, 24 years old, and I pay $2,360 annually for my 350Z and Murano. Astonishingly, the Murano is the vast bulk of that. Both tickets will be off of my record and I'll turn 25 within a year so rates will decrease by quite a bit.

Insurance is subjective though. Just because that's what I pay doesn't mean that's what you would pay even if you had the same vehicles and the same two tickets. Rates will vary from state to state, county to county, individually, different companies, etc.

For half a year of collision only, $230 is the best I can come up with.

I'm paying $420/MONTH for the Saab and Celica. Interestingly enough, the Celica is the majority of it at $302/month.I had to fight to even get insurance on it because of where I live.

Hell, I don't even pay that much for the Celica. It's around $125-$175 a month for me, and I'm only 20 with one accident, but that surcharge is off my insurance now.

Sooo.... today I found that I was hit in a car park during the week... my car was dirty and I have been coming home after dark every night so it just looked like bird poo... but it didn't wash off :'(

After a few distressed hours (after I washed it you could clearly see the mark 100 ft away) I gave it a good dose of heavy duty polish, and then a coat of the normal stuff and it is all gone!!! biggrin.gif Still a small crease where it hit, but you can only feel that, not see it.

Thank you for the insight guys - I was just making sure that EVERYBODY wasn't paying that much for basic insurance, which would basically write off the idea of buying a car over there at all. I guess now it just needs some more investigation, and hopefully not looking out some less-sporty (or V8-y) cars. I am 19, licensed 2 years with spotless driving records, so it will hopefully be okay.
