Well my goal is set by the end of this year I wanna have a 2zzge engine with 6 speed transmission or a 1mzfe into my 1997 toyota celica st, however my big predicament here is witch one of those two motors will fit best in the bay of my celica 97 and which motor will produce more horse power here is the tricky part. I don't wanna spend more then 3 thousand on it but if I have to in order to do the job right I will.
If anybody got any ideas please let me know. Oh yea one more thing since I live in California with all these strict smog regulations. I have to make sure i swap all the emission components from the vehicle (motor) that I'll be installing into my 97celica. bummer right, but oh well I figure its worth it to avoid the law from harassing me. hopefully someone here might have experience doing something like that. I will really appreciate the help. I'll be uploading photos of my car later today or tomorrow just for an idea of what I'm working with lol |

the 2ZZ is a terrible choice for engine in a 6th gen. Yes the engine is an upgrade HP wise but not torque wise. the 6th gen is a heavy ass car. Not only that the 2ZZ is reverse to the 7A meaning the intake is in the front and the exhaust is in the back. There is a steering column right in the way of the header. but then again, same with the V6.
now lets talk cost. good luck finding a 2ZZ engine with manifolds for less than $2000, plus you need the ECU and harness. and the wiring is going to be a total nightmare!!!!! the V6 engine with everything needed will cost less than $1000. since you are coming from an ST you will need a transmission. but same with the 2ZZ, and the C60 (6 speed) isnt cheap either. the S54 or E153 is much cheaper. in a nutshell, do the V6, I can help you since you are in CA. I make the passenger engine mount, and can do the custom exhaust you will need. -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo

Yea I figures I was gonna have to go for the 1mzfe since everywhere I looked they gave me high prizes on the 2zz and transmission also thanks for wake up call on the weight of my car your very right its useless adding a 2zz into my heavy car. I will really appreciate the help, also do you know of any places were I could get the 1mzfe motor it might take me a few months to get the money ready but my thing is, if I plan ahead then I know my outcome for the future.
oh yea, BTW. I'll see you out there in your town this Saturday I need to go pick up some of those parts from you ![]() |

smaay is the V6 man guru! Yup. Very true he's gonna help me out with the transformation (swap) ones I get that 1mzfe motor and transmission. Here in my city we have only hondas, dodge srt's and subarus. I wanna add a new challange to the trend here in our town and at the same time keep it california complaint lol. I wanted to add the beams motor to it but since I had to go trough the star certified smog it won't be street legal and I just don't feel like passing smog under the table cuss eventually these f**** laws keep changing. So I'm just going for an easy way out with the 1mzfe add performance and make it a little sleeper vtech killer lol ![]() |

I will have the money to buy the engine and tranny if you decide to sell it. just let me know and I'll mostlikely get it from you that should give us enough time to get the money together and for you to think about it lol. I'm going to check out the wrecking yards around here for the 1mzfe and tranny I just wanna make sure I get one with some what low miles you know? |

The v6 swap is the best BARable swap for us Cali members. I'll be doing one in a couple to several years from now. -------------------- |

that's very true lol it is the entire valley. I just feel like having a celica and knowing people that have one is a true testament of those people that are always willing to take on a challenge and over come it there is not much stuff out there for our cars mostly in California but with a little hard work and lots of dedication. I'm sure we could always figure something out. since smaay made the comment about the 3mzfe motor I looked into it and found out it puts out around 225hp so I might just go for that one? but of course my first option its still the 1mzfe also I really wanna do the exterior and all but I keep thinking about it and I'm just gonna try to keep it plain stock from the outside and give it a hole make over from the interior. I want people to keep thinking its a regular celica st till they get surprised

Why the 97 lower intake?
I went with the 96 to stay with a return style fuel system. -------------------- 95 gt coupe, v6 swap weekend toy

Why the 97 lower intake? I went with the 96 to stay with a return style fuel system. the lowers are the same till toyota went with the plastic manifold. its the fuel rails that are return or returnless. and if you get the newer rails, they are thicker and you can convert them like I did. Its really easy to convert them -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo
