I kind of like how goofy the retrofit on my Mazda looks, like big chrome fish eye balls floating in the headlight bowl.

definitely need to get my rear bumper on to cover that...

I like your Mustang.

Just kidding, I know it's a Mustang II.

You could always custom fabricate some form fitted bumpers for the front and back. I still say the first gen Celica liftback is one of the best looking cars of the 70's up there with the Z cars, F-bodies, and Corvette.

Not my car of choice for the day but I had my chance to tackle Pikes Peak. You can't not take that chance.

It has its ups and downs. Had I not just owned a Limited V8 4th gen, I'd love this 4Runner. I miss the torque of the 2UZ, but I like the gas mileage I'm getting now. Not only did I lose torque, but this one is geared much more towards efficiency so it's always trying to stay in the highest gear and lowest RPM, which only serves to castrate it even more. Towing hasn't been great, merging on the highway can be sketchy, and maintaining interstate speeds is a chore. Not because it's underpowered, but just in how Toyota set up the trans. The fact that there's an "eco" light on the dash to tell me how I'm driving says it all.

Ride quality is much improved over the 4th gen, but comes at the cost of body roll. (I'm comparing an XREAS equipped 4th gen to a non-KDSS 5th gen though, so apples to oranges.) Interior, I'm happy with both. The 4th gen had better carpet and seat material, and the carpet matters a LOT to me since I vacuum dog fur out at least once a week. However, the layout of the 5th gen interior is much more logical and makes more sense.

My '06 had one touch start (like turn the key to the start position and it will crank itself) and a self closing hatch. This one has none of that. But it's much larger inside and I've already found myself making the best use of the interior space.

Overall I love my 5th gen, but not necessarily enough to be worth trading my 4th gen for. Losing XREAS was a noticeable mistake, but rude quality and fuel economy are much improved. We really only bought this one because the numbers worked out in our favor and it was too good of a deal to pass up.

Is there not a "sport" mode or anything where you can have control of which gear it's in? If not that's just terrible. I find it hard to believe a modern V6 powered vehicle has trouble getting to interstate speed before it merges, even if it is on the heavier side.

Yeah, but it's just a pain. The weight doesn't seem to be an issue so much as the fact that it's about as aerodynamic as a wall. Overall I still love my 4Runner but I definitely miss my 2UZ.
