depends on what I can do with it once i get the keys. if I can either fix it or throw in an engine for cheap then maybe a winter beater. also, it's a 5 speed so would be nice to give my green one a manual transmission and collect parts from this one. if not, then find a v6 and throw it in there as a fun project. we'll see

Ordered some supplies to do a valve cover gasket job and paint the valve cover wrinkle black. Also ordered the "16 Valve EFI" engine badge for the 7A-FE, as mine never had one. For the 7A-FE guys, does this badge have raised lettering or is it completely flat? Just wondering if I would be able to paint it easily. Also how does it attach to the valve cover?
Also discovered my inner CV boot on the passenger side is ripped ![]() This post has been edited by Bushmatic: Oct 9, 2017 - 5:29 AM -------------------- |

my 7a never came with the lettering, don't know which ones did and which ones didn't but ???
the ones i've seen were just a flat badge i believe and attached via adhesive i would think? are u planning on painting the badge or putting it on your engine and then painting the valve cover? if doing the valve cover, just mask off the badge with tape and spray ur cover, then unmask. also, cv boot leakage sucks. i drove around on a ripped one for a year or so and it threw grease all over my wheels. it was NOT fun cleaning the insides of them. ![]() -------------------- ![]() *1997 Celica ST - 3SGE Greytop BEAMS *1977 Celica RA29 - Classic Cruiser *2005 Matrix AWD - dedded but still hanging around like a ghost 2019 Rav4 XLE Premium - Sports mode is fun. |

If I recall correctly mine did, and it was just a flat badge with the lettering silk screened on.

Went and called a couple locksmiths to get a brand new key made for my vert since I lost my keys in the move. Every place wanted $175 plus for one. Called up Toyota by my house and was only $10 to make with the title present and $4 for the key, needless to say, got a couple made for the vert and my new addition high o silver

Today I got my car repainted. Original color from Marco here in Tulsa. Looks much better. Waiting for the paint to cure. I am told wait 60 days. I am getting it ready for sale or local trade in if I like a decent sports car. I have done a lot of work on it since I purchased it 4 years ago including new head, pistons and rings. side skirts, front and back spats, rear window spoiler, new leather seat covers, Indiglow gauges. All doors body panels inside were insulated. After market header and exhaust. Sounds throaty but not too loud. 15 inch Celica 2000 rims painted black, new brakes, JDM lights, Low beam HID conversion. I am forgetting other mods.
things I want to do is to buy new rubber seals that are attached to the top of the door cards so that it holds the window when it is halfway down. Upcoming mods, rear disk setup. I have the hubs with brake cables and calipers but no rotors. I have too work load and other house projects so this will have to wait. Car looks nice as an ST can be. Runs really nice. I am happy with how it performs. Not the fastest out there though. |
