ok if is an SI then it has the vtec engine so everyone stop asking that. Also 1 winged angel the vtec is the name of the engine so it will kick in at all rpms because the engine doesn't appear at 4000 rpms. maybe the most power that it can put out is at 4000 rpms.

And as for the original question. You will lose if it a drag race. And a paint job and rims is not souped up. So like everyone said race him on a curve and cut his brake line. Then when he crashes go rescue him out of his car and everyone will be talking about you like you are god. You might even be on TV. Which is good. Helps get the ladies.

so the new si have b16 ?

well lets just hope that his si badge is a sticker and hope that he actually have a sohc in there or ure pretty much gonna get owned.gif
hell an EX will probably owned.gif ST's

nope only the 99-00 Civic Si had the B16A2 engine. It goes like this:

89-91 Si - Hatchback - SOHC D16A6 - 108hp/100tq
92-95 Si - Hatchback - SOHC D16Z6 - 125hp/106tq
99-00 Si - Coupe - DOHC B16A2 - 160hp/111tq
02-?? Si - Hatchback - DOHC K20A - 160hp/(134tq - if i remember correctly) same engine as the base RSX but with less torque.

Now if this guy "says" he smokes camaros, wrx's, and bla bla bla, he would need to have (assuming he has the 92-95 Si hatch) at least a B18C1 (GS-R) swap and some nice work done to it (FI??).

Well if you race him, good luck. Even if he has the stock SOHC, he can still edge you out since he has a manual.

Well....... The v-tech was made as an economy/performance engine. Basically under 4000 rpms it acts as any other economy engine, but the vtech at higher rpms shoves much more gas and air into the engine making it accelerate faster. The tradeoff however is that past 4000, the car guzzles gas. So...keeping with Soichiro Honda's philosophy and roots of the economy Honda 50 cub and supercub motorbikes. The V-tech engine is pretty much a perfect blend of economy and power for the regular street. Racing through reduced speed turns however is a different story because you don't let the engine hit high rpms and you need something that performs on both ends.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
This is my going to be my last race. If i lose to another product from honda, I am not going to race again. I am going to focus on making my ride a pimp mobile and drive across the bus stop where people get to glance at my exotic car.

Another question:
I used 87 octane gas. I heard people say that if you use 91 octane gas, the car will go alot faster. So with the 91 octane level, will my car even have a chance????? The guy has a 92-94 civic hb

octane won't make much a difference

he has more power than you plain and simple. I would wait to race

QUOTE (hioctane @ Feb 11, 2003 - 12:53 AM)
I challenged my friend's brother, who has a souped up civic hb si to a duel.
What are my odds of winning?? His car is a stick, and my car is an automatic st.

The guy told me he smoked a camaro, integra ls, wrx, and a rx7.

I believe in the power of this CAR!!!!!! When i said i can beat his bro's car, him and his gay cousin laughed at me. Ill have it on video! but first i want to know my odds of winning so i dont look stupid

wow ur "F"ed . have fun getting smoked

btw you shouldnt race in the 1st place, unless on a track... its stupid

H/E i highly doubt he took a WRX, camaro or a RX7 rolleyes.gif esp the WRX, hed be OWNED unless he stole the spark plugs from the WRX...

ok ok. i have read all the posts and input of the other members and thought about it........and.........youre not gonna win. if this is a true Si, and you have an automatic st, youre toast. the hatchback Si is the lightest civic that i can think of. vtec is a pretty good power component. it really doesnt have anything to do with fuel as i read someones reply. vtec is an electronic component that can activate different lobes on the camshaft and change the cam's timin'. well, i say put the bottle on the ST and spank him and he wont know what hit em'. theres my $.02

5th gen hb is what your friend have. They are meant to be engine swapped so if he hasn't done that than I think you'll have a chance. Specs say that it runs 16.8s in a 1/4 mile. I don't know about what ours(st and gt) run. Take note that the SI is also the heaviest of cx,vx,dx.

Have you seen the hb before? Tell us if he has a tachmeter okay? On a positive side, I doubt that his shift timing is good. Just act all retarded to make him show off his cars speed for you to see. The main purpose of that is to see If he peels out just a little bit going from first to second..than i would fear that.

Actually it is very possible to win, but the odds are not in his favor.
It depends on mods to the 7a and/ or driver error on his part.
vtec is nothing special. all it is is electronic valve timing, you
have the same thing except its mechanical. weights of the
cars are very similar and you cant have driver error w/ an at.
you need to have more faith in your cars. dont let an si scare you.
Remember you bought a Toyota not a honda.

well, What I would do would be to spend the whole day of the race stripping my car of everything you don't need, like that article in scc, also depending on how much this race means to you, drain your bank account, start with some nitrous and a cai, for some power gains and go from there,, he probably won't expect you to pull up to the line with a celica frame with no battery and no windshields. but realistically you will lose, unless you do all of the above, good luck and may the force be with you

Mr7AFE, a honda is fast too...out of 50 there's prob 1 god for them.

jayi12-15psi, nitrous? no.. cai? no..

hioctane, ...hey just back off and let em laugh at ya for now. I know it is hard to do that but i'm sure that it is for a good cause in the long run. Trust me on that. I went from slow in the beginning to unimagineably fast in the end winning huge amount of money bets after bets...it's like converting their shame+laugh+putdown into money for you.

I was merely looking for power gains that require a short install time, there are many other mods that can be done for more power but if he wants power to win now, why not start with nitrous and cai?

Haha yeah, that was hilarious, it was like in cartoons where they throw off the body, the seats, etc, and are left w/ 4 wheels, the floor, the steering wheel, and the engine.
