I'm assuming its imported from Japan. If that's the case you could
have problems in getting "history"on the car, the car was probably bought at an auction, some auction houses will have some history on cars they sell but its unlikely to be genuine.Service records & Log Books which are important in Europe where cars routinely change hands privately, are usually not available with Japanese imports, as few people in Japan bother writing in them nor have use for them. Proper maintenance is typically handled by the original dealer. Since this dealer is going to eventually inherit the car at trade in time, he is obviously interested in maintenance being done at regular intervals. Exporters who promise updated service records with used Japanese cars are mostly frauds!.Rest assured though the majority of jap imports are low mileage, have little wear (haven't been caned) as city congestion makes it difficult to abuse them, limiters prevent excessive engine wear and most japanese people use public transport, their cars are used on weekends for show.Hope this gives you a more informed look on buying an import car, Jon ![]() |

What i mean is that i took the Chassis Number from the dealer but he dont give me the auction paper of the car so i have to find out by myself the history of the car.The dealer told to me that the car was bought in auction at Grade 4.5 but who trust him?All my previous cars was imported from Japan and i`m very sorry that my last one Subaru WRX broke after 6 months of use.I found also the company won the car at the auction but they dont have details for what they selling on the web,do you think i should send them a fax?

Grade 4.5 is the rating of the condition of the car lets say 0 the car has accident 1 accident and repaired 2 lot of scratches(not in good condition) 3 small scratches but in very good condition grade 4 very good condition and 5 ecxellent condition. I will send a fax tomorrow then and i `ll ask them about the car.
I`m getting car from Japan beacuse are cheap, its not easy to buy a new celica or a new WRX or a new prelude. Wrx seems to be a very sensitive car,its fast but its not reliable and i know that Celicas are reliable from my brother beacuse he owns one for almost 3 years and he is giving so much pressure to the car with no problems.WRX ARE ****. No i its not the same dealer. |

Ok so you've been told its a grade 4.5. If the dealer is claiming this he should be
able to back it up with the auction vehicle inspection slip. It looks like a 4" x 3" piece of paper with a picture of a saloon, people carrier (standard image of a vehicle). The examiner who assessed the car would have noted any chips, scratches, dents found on the body and would have marked them on the diagram. The symbols marked on the picture indicate the severity and type of imperfections. There should be a label stuck up or near the rear view mirror which the auction house would have placed here to indicate the grade of the car. Most dealers leave this as proof of the grading at auction. A grade 4.5 should be almost immaculate condition, minor imperfections associated with age, grade 5 - mint/ like new. If your not sure of the service history check out the cambelt cover (if the cars mileage is 60,000miles/ 90,000km)the jap dealer should have changed it and placed a kilometer sticker to indicate the mileage point it was changed at)- a good indicator that the car has been regularly serviced, Jon |
