Looks like my next car will be a 350z after all. I have been debating that one for a while now and decided to wait and see what Toyota did.

Actually that backend looks sick. If they changed the lights to where you turned them on its like that one Lexus SUV it would be bad ass. The front picture is fugly but that rear end just gives me a woody for some reason wink.gif

Oh yeah and make sure the tails are like the old tails, just whited out

I love toyota. They've popped out some cool cars. Not so too many recently tho. But they had it going on in the mid 90s.

Supra TT
MR2-T
Celica GT4
Lexus IS300
SC400

Oh I as far as coolest looking gen, I gotta say first gens. Japanse muscle car. I'd love to get one and drop a v8 in it. But 6g's are second best looking

Not in the mid-90's per say,but...
You're forgetting the SC430 and the GS400 my man!

At least now the 7th geners won't be so high and mighty? hehe

I have a feeling the 7th geners will feel even more special cuz their car was the last one! thats just the way i see it! I just know that the WA 7th gen owners are very rude and stuck up and will probably think that way

but oh well we all know we atleast got the best celica out of all the generations :-)

hahaha if this is true...then yea toyota will die. They were the 2nd most selling manufacture (of cars) in the world...I wonder what will take its spot now...cause hell no the Scoin's will nvr replace what toyota used to make. I rather have a old corolla than the current family car one with the FE engines...an yea that's all they seem to produce now...FE engines...o well if its true, then the future of toyota is not bright.

i cant say im surprised, ive been kind of expecting it... but i am far from happy about it.

toyota has found their nitch in the market making cheap affordable reliable family cars and making affordable luxury vehicles with their lexus line as well as making some odd and out there vehicles from their scion line to try to stay a little fresh. Somehow that combo is working for them. all it is is a shift completed. ever since 94 when they dropped sales of a GT4 celica, theyve been slowly pulling out of the sports car segment. for example:

94 toyota decides to no longer sell their all-trac/GT-4 celica in the US

95 toyota discontinues their MR2 in the US, though continuing it in Japan till 98.

98 toyota drops their super car supra

2000 toyota brings back the MR2, but in a much more refined, matured MRS

and now, 2004, toyota drops the last of their sport compacts, celica and MRS in favor of the Scions and solara.

id say give them untill their family oriented car sales begin slipping and we'll start seeing more performance toyotas.

its a sad day.. The solara can't compete as a sports car, hell its not even a sports car. toyota no longer has a sports car for it market. The IS300 is not a sports car and neither is anything else a lexus has... I'm just glad that I bough the last good looking sports car(aside from supra) that toyota made... time for an engine swap or just something better

My prediction is the company will have new sports car offerings in the not too distant future. Their recent renewed committment to racing in the NASCAR and other venues suggests they are not going to be gone from performance cars for long.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

Unfortunatly it looks like toyota is expecting the Matrix to keep their sportscar fans. They are going to have an AWD/ Turbo version. I still can't believe they decided to do that to a Matrix, and never tried another round with it in the Celica before calling it quites.
The only hope I have for Toyota is that they will ended release another Supra in the US. I have seen ALOT of official concept pics. Some good, some not so good. We shall see.
