I might have to rebuild or get a new 7afe. Im don't have all that much money. I was thinking if I had to get a new engine, how much would it cost to put in a 5s? Would it be easier than a 3s? or just the same pain? Jeremy |

a 5s would be just as hard as the 3sgte. these reasons are why no one uses anything BUT the 3sgte, because its just as much of a pain for everything so you mid as well spring for the top of the line one. |

I wouldn't say it's as hard as the 3SGTE simply because the 5SFE harness would be plug and play (if you get a 6th gen GT engine harness/ECU). The underhood stuff will be pretty similar... but the 5SFE is easier to work with than the 3SGTE. -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... 3sgte is way harder then a 5sfe! plus 5sfe is cheaper to get get vs the 3sgte, but then agin if i had the money i would have went 3sgte.. i just recently swap a newer 5sfe into my car to replace my old one. not to difficult. -------------------- RIP-1995 Toyota Celica GT Riding a 2002 Honda Civic HB Si |

You forget he;s starting with a 7AFE. He's gonna need the same stuff under the hood to mount a 5SFE as is to mount a 3SGTE. -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... yeah i was thinking that still cheaper.. i mean you have to customize the wire harness and not to mention the the tranny problems you'll run into

Well, I wasn't saying it's gonna be expensive... just the workload is gonna be the same. ;] The mechanical stuff should be relative bolt-ons in exception to one motor mount. The engine harness and ECU, if from the same OBD (I/II) and generation Celica, should simply plug in. -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl...
