QUOTE(Bigmeanbulldog55 @ Apr 25, 2005 - 11:01 AM) Dude, seriously, he's just asking it as something to talk about. It's interesting. It's not a stupid topic. If you had a mint condition 6gc, it would be worth a ton someday. Just the same as mint condition 70's models are now. Given that you won't get that much money for them, they are still worth something. This is a collector question. If he wants to do this, it isn't stupid. I admire the fact that he likes the car so much that he wants to do something like this. He may have been going about it the wrong way a little, but I think that was mostly just peoples responses. On a side not, I had a collector come and look at my car once. So there are actual Celica collectors. Dude, seriously...its a fugguin stupid question. First off, as a collector, you dont want to collect a remake, a replica. You'd want an original, within the manufactured years, with original miles on it. Its a Toyota ST205, not a Ferrari thats hand-crafted. Secondly, Toyota, the biggest selling car manufacturer on the planet, isnt going to give you the time of day unless you have a couple million to spend on wasting their time. If you want an ST205, either import one into the US, or move to a country that has them. If you want to have an ST205 and not drive it, which personally I couldnt do. Then rebuild the entire engine, voila, no miles. But asking www.6gc.net what it would take and how much it would cost is just ludicrous, and I call it such. -------------------- |

It would take far more than a couple million dollars. To remanufacture a 6gen they would have to completely retool the line and that would cost a whole lot of money. And if you could buy toyota for $5 billion, that is a steal try at least 50 times that. |

Yeah I dont think they'd retool the entire line for one car, they'd probably do alot of it by hand, kinda like a concept car, but that costs more and takes longer than a machine, so the price would evne increase.

QUOTE(Manta5x @ Apr 25, 2005 - 4:54 AM) QUOTE(Bigmeanbulldog55 @ Apr 25, 2005 - 3:15 AM) Your best bet would be to get a regular gt, and put all new stuff on it. Or just completely restor it. I don't know if there's anyway to get Toyota to do that. I bet there's someone out there with a celica who's had it garage kept and never driven it. If you really want to do this, I'm sure you could find a way. I saw a guy, must of been in his 50's driving a perfect yellow hatch, this car was so clean it had to have been garage kept. no sign of wear or scratches anywhere on the car. yessssss YOOOOOO i seeen the same one holy crap sooooooo beautiful i was like holy crap and yo his tail lights were like soo bright i think they were the JDM but wow it was soo sexy |

you really need to tour an assembly faucility, there is no way in freaking hell any car company would ever "remanufacture" or "retool" for a car for any circumstance, this must be the most ignorant question ive ever read reguarding the manufacturing of an automobile.

In order for toyota to rebuild a 6th gen, you would need to buy thier passneger car company: everything including factories, R&D centers, business centers, accounting departments, everything for a very conservative estimate of 100 billion dollars. Most likely more.
It would be much more cost effective to build your own small car plant, hire skilled mechanics, buy the plans to the 6th gen celica and the right to build it from toyota, get all needed raw material and then start hand building them. But if you are going to start hand building cars, why make the 6th gen and then sell them for exotic car prices, which is what must happen if you are hand building each one. Might as well desing your own car and compete with Ferrari, lamborgini, saleen, etc.. -------------------- Its Orville's Celica, i just drive it... |

Look guys, I think almost every OEM part is available from toyota dealer. Why dont you billionaires buy each and every part and put it together youselves. Its like a big lego project.
